Decades of expertise
Ab Tallqvist Oy was founded in 1965 and has since been
providing services for all earthwork and hydraulic engineering needs.
The founders of the company, Harry and Ingvald Tallqvist, started their
trucking business back in 1952. Up until 1991 the company was called
H&I Tallqvist. Initially, the company focused on the transport of gravel
and fuel. The first excavator was purchased in 1971.

Ab Tallqvist Infra Oy, which specialises in earth-moving and
construction, Ab Tallqvist Rental Oy, specialising in rental and repair
services, and Ab Tallqvist Energy Oy, which offers fuel transport
services.

Growth in the company has occurred steadily through investments
and a number of acquisitions. We are now among the largest private
earthwork businesses in Finland. The company operates throughout
Finland and also exports its expertise to countries in the neighbouring
regions. We have a staff of about 140 employees.

Ab Tallqvist Oy has an ISO 9001 quality certificate granted by the DNV in 2008.
In addition, Ab Tallqvist Infra Oy is RALA certified by the Finnish Construction
Quality Association.

Earthworks and
industrial construction
Ab Tallqvist Oy is an expert in earthworks. We have a large and
versatile fleet with suitable equipment for all kinds of projects,
big or small. Our excavators range from small 1.5-ton minidiggers to 110-ton mammoths.
Ab Tallqvist Infra Oy has invested in skilled personnel, training and state-of-the-art equipment. Our fleet consists of about
100 different earthwork and transport units. Our most recently
acquired machines employ satellite-based positioning technology providing the operator of the machine with highly accurate
coordinates for the excavation work.
Tallqvist is an expert in industrial construction, too
We have erected a number of industrial halls in Ostrobothnia,
carried out modification, expansion and repair work and laid
foundations for heavy machinery, for example.

Pohjanmaan Biokaasu Oy
Ab Tallqvist Infra was the head contractor in the construction project for the
biogas plant of Pohjanmaan Biokaasu
Oy. This project, the largest handled by
Tallqvist Infra thus far, consisted of the
earthworks, construction works, installation of machinery and HVACE works
and employed 20 people on average.
When completed, the Kokkola biogas
plant will use sludge from factories
and the nearby wastewater treatment
plant as well as sediments from the
septic tanks of farms and rural houses
in order to generate renewable bioenergy. The biogas is recovered and used
to generate heat and electricity. The
sludge, which dries up in the process,
is composted and the compost is then
recycled as a soil conditioner for landscaping work.

Mining projects
At a mining site, everything is big.
Ab Tallqvist Oy has lately been investing in the mining industry by
acquiring equipment suitable for mining sites. Mining site projects are
large and challenging but we like to tackle such challenges.
Talvivaara, Sotkamo
The Talvivaara mine is situated in
Sotkamo, about 35 km from Kajaani,
and has one of the largest sulphidic
nickel deposits in Europe.
Tallqvist has been working on the
Talvivaara mining site from the beginning. Our projects have included
200 hectares of substructures under
the heap pads, six basins and several other projects ranging from water
pipelines to road construction.
Laiva, Raahe
CASE
The construction work for the Laiva
gold mine in Raahe started in the
spring of 2010. The mine is one of
the biggest gold mines in Europe.

Hydraulic engineering
and port construction
Tallqvist has been involved in many interesting and challenging
hydraulic engineering projects. These projects require special
skills as well as equipment and machinery particularly suited for
such work. We have all of those.

Kokkola AW terminal
The Kokkola All Weather Terminal
can accommodate cargo ships
completely within the terminal.
The terminal offers uninterrupted
operations in all weather conditions
to and from the ship and within the
storage areas. The AWT in Kokkola
is the first one in the Nordic countries, and there are less than ten of
them in the entire world.
Tallqvist carried out the earthworks
in the project. The builder of the
new terminal was the City of Kokkola and all the contractors chosen
were experienced professionals.

Transport services
Tallqvist signed a fuel transport agreement with Teboil in
as early as 1965. From then on, we have continued to offer
gasoline and heating oil transport services. At the moment
we have nine road tankers in Teboil livery.
We also offer special delivery and cargo transport services.

Repair services
The repair business has developed from the need to keep the
wheels of the company’s own fleet running. Over the decades we
have accumulated such robust experience that we gladly place
our expertise at the disposal of our customers, too. If necessary,
our repair shop on wheels will come to you, saving you both time
and trouble.
We are also authorised by Fintractor to service their products.
We provide service and spare parts for all makes represented by
them, such as Terex, Dieci and Ammann, in the Kalajoki-Vaasa
area. Our service on wheels covers an area with a radius of about
100 km.
