News from Room 3 - Bankwood School
Dear Parents / Caregivers
4 May 2016
No 12
What a wonderful start to term 2 your children have made. When I wandered through classrooms on
Monday morning children were happily engaged in learning. They were all so pleased to be back.
We have welcomed 6 new children to our school so far this term. We are pleased to have them join our
learning community.
At the last assembly, Graeme Kitto, from Rotary presented a $200 cheque to
Miss Winter and some of the 'gardening group! Children, with Miss Winters
support and encouragement are working to keep our gardens weed free.
The $200 received will be used to buy more plants to further beautify our
environment.
With the weather fluctuating in temperature, please ensure that your children's outer layers are named.
This makes it easier for identification when looking through the lost property.

ANZAC day
My Teacher
by: Aalyiah
Today we made poppies. First
we coloured the leaves all green .
After we finished the leaves we
made the poppy flowers. We
Brought poppies to the teacher
and she put some spots on them to
keep them together. ANZAC
is celebrating the army people
that saved us so we didn’t get hurt.

Our Classroom Caterpillars
by: Max
Today a caterpillar made a chrysalis.
The life cycle goes like this. First
it starts as a tiny egg. Then it hatches
and turns into a caterpillar, then a
chrysalis and then it turns into a
butterfly.
Mrs Kingma is in her Pohutukawa class. She
has long hair with a fringe. She is a
happy teacher. By Aerial
Boards of Trustees are the governors of a school. The Principal is responsible for the management of the school. The Principal
is the member of the board and acts as the board's educational leader and chief adviser. Governance and management work in
partnership.
Being a school trustee is an important role that needs people with a range of skills and experiences, who believe in making a
positive difference to our children's learning.
Nominations are invited for the election of 5 parent representatives to the board of trustees.
You can nominate another person to stand as a candidate, or you can nominate yourself (make sure you sign both parts of the
form).
A nomination form and a notice calling for nominations will be posted to all eligible voters, this Friday 6th May.
Please check your mail box and if you do not receive these forms, you can pick some up from the office.
Nominations close at noon on 20th May 2016 and may be accompanied by signed candidates statements.

I learnt how to swim to the other side. It is
hard. I keep on coming up. I can float on my
stomach. Summer is very very hot. You need
sunscreen. It is sweaty. You get to have a
swim. You wear short short t.shirts.

This teacher has short hair and
sometimes wears glasses when she reads.
Her name is Mrs Peters and her class is
Room 3. When I see her every morning
she smiles at me. She is the best teacher
I’ve met. She is the nicest teacher ever.
I love my teacher so much because she
lets me go on the ipads and lets me go
some some puzzles.
Yucky Food
 By Danica
I don’t like onion! I think is tastes
terrible. Every time my Mum gives me
disgusting food I sneak to the back door.
Onions smell weird and look weird also.
Hot air balloons work with fire. First the pilot
blows it up with a fan. Then it starts to go
slowly up. Then it flies away around the
world even. In the show balloons are so
cool. By Detroit

Tennis lessons
At tennis we used a racket and a ball.
We bounced the ball on the strings of
the racket. We did some little bounces
up and down. Lastly we played a little
game. By Milad
Rugby
By Wyatt
I like playing Rugby. We kick the ball. When we
play we get a goal and who gets the most they
win.
Insects
Ladybirds are red, yellow and black. They
have hard shells. They like to eat greenflies.
They have babies, and have six legs, two
feelers and are so little you can’t even see
them. They’re beautiful that you’ll love them.
