Unlike your typical logging conference, our field day on Friday
morning will start out with a guided motorcoach tour of the Freeport
McMoran - Sierrita open pit copper mine.
We will get an up-close view of how a modern mine balances
excavation and logistics to maximize the efficiency of their operation.

After we leave the mine, Caterpillar is hosting the PLC for the
day at their Tinaja Hills Demonstration and Training Center.
We will start the PLC business session and then Caterpillar
will educate us with (3) short 30-minute interactive
technical sessions:
• Technology
• Fleet Management
• Jobsite Safety
After lunch, you will spend an afternoon in Caterpillar’s sandbox
“Big Trucks and Fond Memories”
A live equipment demonstration followed by, …
… a view and operate session. You will be able to get in the
seat and operate the Cat line of excavators, tractors ,wheel
loaders, …..
…, or do a “ride and drive” in the new Cat vocational truck
or maybe a mine truck.
