Hi Families,
Staff Profile
Wow, what a busy month we are having at
Inside this issue:
child care. The kindy room has hatching eggs
and baby chicks, please feel free to take a
look. These chickens will be available for
adoption at the small cost of $2 per chick.
Please see Simone or Kylee if you would like to
adopt a chick or two. We have care
information about the chicks too.
Thursday, before Easter, we had a picnic in
the park and Wendy, our Easter chicken, came
to visit and gave each child an Easter egg.
We also had our AGM on Monday 4th April.
We would like to welcome Kelly as our new
Chairperson, Ashley as our new Treasurer and
Steph is our new Secretary. Other new
Committee members are Tayla, Jess and
Emma and existing member is Briony. Thank
you to all of our new members and existing
members for volunteering their time. Our
Committee is full now and we cannot accept
any more members but if you would like to be
involved in our Centre please let me or Kylee
know.
On 7th May, staff will be busy updating their
first aid training on a Saturday and we are
looking forward to our first PJ day of this
year with many more to follow.
Thanks for supporting our Centre, Simone
April 2016
Hello. My name is Wendy
and I am the Team
Leader in the Pre School
room. I have been in
child care for 35 years
now and during that
time I have taken on
many roles. I enjoy
working in the rooms
with the children the
most.
I am married and I have
2 grown up children. I
have 4 grandchildren,
ranging in age from 7 to
18. I love having them
come for a sleepover on
the weekends. I have a
little Pomeranian dog
called Tiny. I have told
the children I am
planning on bringing him
in for a visit one day.
My interests are playing
computer games,
knitting, crocheting and
walking. Unfortunately I
haven't been able to do
much walking , after
recently returning to
work after a hip
replacement.
Please come and see me
if you have any questions
or concerns about your
child’s development.

Babies Room News
Hello families
This month we have been learning sign language in the Babies
Room as another form of communication we can have with your
children. We have started with the sign for "finished" and
many children have picked this up fast. We will be continuing
on with signs for eat and drink next, so keep an eye out for
your child’s efforts!
April the 7th was "World Health Day", this year’s focus is
Diabetes so we have been talking about healthy eating and
have used celery, lemons and other vegetables in our play. We
have also used potatoes and apples for paint stamping.
The Babies Room email list is up and running and I have sent
out the first email with a short You Tube clip attached,
showing some signs that the babies have learnt and will learn.
If you would like to be added to the email list please see Beck
for a form to fill in.
During our day we have also been role playing with dolls; placing
them in high chairs, feeding them healthy foods and giving
them bottles. We have also set up a nappy change station for
our dolls with wipes, nappies and clothing. Your children have
appeared to enjoy this experience learning and developing
many new skills such as independence, supportiveness and
social interactions.
On the 22nd of April we will be celebrating Earth Day so
please keep an eye out for new fun experiences we will be
doing relating to trees.
Thank you. We look forward to another fun month ahead.

Toddler Room News
Hello Families,
Thank you to those families who have already filled out and
brought back their “About Me” sheets, it has been wonderful
to hear all about your child and their family and see the
beautiful photos attached. The Toddler Room staff have also
completed one and they have been put into a folder for our
room which will soon be on display for the children, families
and staff to look through. The children will be able to use the
folder to not only look at and recognise themselves, their
peers and Educators, but it will offer them another
opportunity to discover any connections and interests they
may have with their peers and Educators. This will help them in
building a greater understanding of being a part of many
different communities, whether it be at home, at child-care or
in their surrounding environments.
The children have once again been very busy discovering and
creating with varied materials, such as herb play dough and
pine tree needles. We have explored the textures, feelings and
smells of our materials and have enjoyed painting and creating
with them. To see more of what we have been doing please
have a look at our display door in your toddler room - “Look
What We Have Been Doing”. This shows photos of activities,
incursions, excursions and the fun that we have together each
day.
Just a little reminder to all of our parents and care-givers to
please ensure that your child’s belongings or favourite toys
they may bring to the centre are clearly named, as it makes it
much easier to find the owner should they get lost or go
missing.
Thank you from

Pre-school Room News
Dear Parents,
Well here it is, half way through April, I can’t believe how
quickly the months have gone. I am slowly learning all of
your children’s likes and dislikes which will help me with
programming activities. If you would like to know more
about what your child is doing while at child care, please
come and see me.
Welcome to the children who have moved up from Toddler
Room recently. They are all settling in very well. We also
have had a couple of new children join our room, welcome
Ebony and Mia.
During the month of April, our focus of interest is bugs and
insects. Whenever we are outside in our yard, the children
look for them and get very excited when we find some. We
use these opportunities to discuss the types of bugs we
find, where they live and the types of foods they may eat.
We are also doing a lot of group times on our feelings and
using gentle hands when playing with each other. The
children have used these skill to play nicely with their
friends in a fun and gentle way.
The children have been very excited to see the baby
chickens hatch with their friends from the Kindy Room.
They have all had the chance to observe and gently hold
the chicks.
If your child doesn't come home with a painting or drawing,
please do not think they haven’t been busy creating. There
is a special day in May just around the corner and we will be
creating something special for that.
Regards, Wendy

Kindy Room News
Hi everyone
Exciting news! Henny Penny Hatching have arrived and we have
had 11 successful hatchings, with most of the children lucky
enough to witness a chick hatching from it’s egg. We have a
red tape marking on the floor, which we encourage the children
to stand behind to protect the chicks and the incubation
equipment. This is working well and the children all agreed to
remind each other when they may forget. We have all had the
change to hold the chicks and our student, Lynne, has helped
the children make come chicken related craft. The chicks are
available for adoption. If you are interested, please speak to
Kylee or Simone before 21st April, as they will be heading
back to the farm on the 22nd of April.
Simone bought a complete skeleton model for the Kindy Room,
which has been a very popular addition. This has encouraged
some very interesting conversations. We have built on this
learning experience with books about our bodies and looking at
some old x-rays. We have also begun cutting out and putting
together our own skeletons, each one unique. Please feel free
to donate any old x-rays you may no longer want. We may just
have to set up a hospital in our room, using our doctor and
nurse dress ups.
The children have been having a fun time in the yard. We
followed chalk arrows until we found a cluster of stars and the
children had the chance to draw a chalk picture of their own.
It was very colourful and artistic on the concrete and softfall.
We have recently received some new toys which were
purchased from our Fundraising budget. The children are very
excited every time something new arrives. So thank you to
everyone who helped us reach our fundraising goal.
If you have any questions, concerns or suggestions on what
your child may be interested to learn, please feel free to come
and see me.
Thanks, Margaret
