This year the New Bedford Folk Festival celebrates 20 years of bringing the
finest traditional, contemporary, Americana, Celtic, British Isles, Blues and
Bluegrass folk musicians from around the U. S. and the world to New Bedford.
The seven festival stages range from the historic 1200 seat Zeiterion Performing Arts Center to an intimate “Meet the Performer” stage. In addition
to concerts, the festival features two dozen music workshops which bring
together multiple performers and groups on stage to create music shows
and extravaganzas. Along with the music,enjoy the more than 90 national and
international artisan crafts and food offerings including New Bedford landed

Arthur Moniz Gallery
22 William St. For over 40 years internationally noted artist, Arthur Moniz, has
created the largest collection of Whaling paintings and prints of this scenic
historic area. He is a signature member of American Society of Marine
Artists. Arthur was invited by the New Bedford Whaling Museum to do the
commemorative painting of the Charles W. Morgan for its historic return in
2014. The gallery contains many paintings of whaling scenes, our fishing fleet

1000C Rodney French Blvd. Fort Taber Park illustrates the history of the
fortification and military installations that were once part of the Fort Rodman
complex. The museum houses a collection of thousands of artifacts with
exhibits featuring the Revolutionary through Operation Iraqi Freedom and
Operation Enduring Freedom (Afghanistan) wars. Exhibits are a personal
tribute to our courageous veterans and service members. Volunteers provide

Nathan And Mary (Polly) Johnson House
21 Seventh St. Among the city’s best known black abolitionists of the 1800s,
the Johnson’s sheltered Frederick Douglass and his wife, Anna, when they
fled north from slavery in 1838. Constructed circa 1800, the house is an
Underground Railroad site and a National Historic Landmark. The Johnson
House is home to the New Bedford Historical Society, Inc. Learn about the

Seamen’s Bethel
15 Johnny Cake Hill. Built in 1830, the Bethel was the setting for the famous
chapter in Moby-Dick in which Father Mapple preaches his sermon on Jonah
and the Whale. Still an active church the Bethel is open to the public May 18
