Trip to Avebury creates
lifelong memories
Head Teacher: Mr. Paul Sansom
NPQH, BA (Hons) QTS
Last week our intrepid Year 3 children set off on an unforgettable adventure to
Avebury Henge, one of the most famous prehistoric stone circles in the
country, as part of their topic about the Stone Age. The trip involved them starting
school at 7.45am and not returning until about 8pm, the longest school day in
Chad Vale pre-History!
The children were fantastic and the weather proved to be in their favour, as the
sun shone, giving them the best opportunity to make the most of their long coach
journey to Wiltshire.
Jenny (3Vale) said: “My trip to Avebury was better than fantastic! We had a guide
called John who showed us the stone circle and told us some stories about the
stones and their secret past!”
Yousif (3Chad) reported: “Everyone was super, mega, ultra excited about it. I
learned that the people in the first period were called Hunter Gatherers because
they were hunting animals and gathering food like nuts and berries. We also went
into the museum which was eye-catching and contained some amazing objects, like
cow shoulder blades (that they used as shovels) and axes made from flint!”
Thank-you to everyone who helped out with this trip and to all the children– you
were a credit to the school and your families!
Have you completed the Annual Parent Questionnaire yet? If not, please do so as soon as possible.
Everyone filling the questionnaire will be entered into a special prize draw to win a £30 Amazon
voucher. The questionnaire will take approximately 5 minutes to complete and will help us to improve our
school in the future! For more information, please see last weeks newsletter. The questionnaire can be
accessed from the front page of the website, or by typing in the link below into your computer or tablet.
Paper versions are also available from the school office.
Important Update to last weeks notice about use of school drive
Please note that the Governors have asked me to amend the times when the
school drive is available for parents. From Monday 22nd June, please note that
the school driveway is out of bounds to all parent/carer cars AT ALL TIMES
(unless you have a drive pass or disabled badge).

Dear Chad Valers,
My 2 boys Oscar and Jasper are in Chad 3 and 1 respectively.
I am writing to you today in a bid to raise exposure and interest in a challenge I am due to
undertake in July.
As member of the British Red Cross, the recent events in Nepal are close to my heart.
It has always been an ambition of mine to trek to Everest Base Camp in Nepal, something I was
hoping to do in the near future. The recent Earthquake in the region has meant that this will not
be possible for some time. One of my reasons for wanting to go to Nepal was to give something
back to the local population and economy. Whilst I can't now trek to Everest Base Camp I figure I can still walk the distance
back home in the UK!
So...my challenge is to walk from the British Red Cross office in Aston, Birmingham to the British Red Cross office in London!
The walk will be the equivalent distance of walking from Kathmandu, Nepal’s capital, to Everest Base Camp, roughly 120 miles.
I aim to complete the walk in 5 days leaving Birmingham on Monday the 6th July and reaching London on Friday the 10th July. I
will also be attempting to document the trip via Twitter! https://twitter.com/Danssorefeet
All of the money I raise will go to helping the people of Nepal get back on their feet and rebuild their lives. You can donate at:
http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/walkfornepal
As you are aware, the people of Nepal have lost more than just their homes, in many cases they have lost their families and
friends and also large parts of their culture and history!
Please dig deep and donate what you can, even the smallest amount can make a huge difference to people who have lost everything. The world is responding to Nepal but they will need our help for years to come!
Many thanks, Dan Collins
Please check the lost property bin outside the main office for any misplaced items.
There are numerous bags, jumpers, coats etc. that will be recycled if not claimed.

Unfortunately we didn't get enough interest for the parade at the carnival this year. If you are going to the carnival,
keep an eye out for Ayesha, Lilac and Jaia who will be representing Chad Vale and performing on the stage at 11.30
Vale opened up a commanding 21 point lead in the inter form sport competition with a second successive victory in the
rounder's fixtures. 5Vale were outstanding in the field, limiting 5Chad’s opportunities to score. Karthik Ganesan’s pitching was
quick and accurate, while Martha Wright and Kevin Karchi formed a formidable baskstop-1st base combination. Indira Jagpal led
the way offensively for Vale, scoring the first rounder of the game with a powerful shot to left field.
Vale dominated both innings of the game, both with the bat and in the field and were deserved 8-5 winners
Vale now lead the overall standings 51-30.
Dylan Mbichire, Suella Mbichire, Jacqueline Loufilou and
Prasanna Sivakumar represented the school at the Sainsbury's
School Games Year 4 tennis competition on Wednesday
afternoon. Their performance was outstanding, especially
Jacqueline who was playing competitive tennis for the first time.
They played with skill and determination, whilst maintaining a
sense of fair play. Their efforts were rewarded with a second
place finish. The team won the same number of games as the
tournament winners, so first place had to be decided by points
difference in each match played. Unfortunately for us we scored
16 points less during the tournament than the eventual winners,
Harborne Primary School. Our congratulations goes to Harborne
and we look forward to competing again in the tennis next year.
Key Stage 2’s (Years 3-6) sports day will be on Tuesday 30th June,
from 9.30am -12pm.
Reception & Key Stage 1’s (Reception-Years 2) sports day will
take place on Wednesday 1st July, from 9.30-11.30am.
Pupils from Chad classes will compete directly against pupils from
Vale classes in a range of traditional sports day games, track and
field events. After the individual events are completed classes will
then compete in a series of activities against their year group
partner.
Last Thursday the team played Jervoise Primary in an
amazing game that finished in a 5-5 draw! We were
without our usual team captain and first choice
goalkeeper and struggled in the first half. Ben Ferro was
brave in goal and made some excellent saves, but Jervoise
raced out into a deserved 3-0 first half lead. Ben injured
his hand and had to be replaced by Jacob
Cunningham-Ebanks in goal in the second half. Led by
team captain, Ramiyah Ubiaro, Chad Vale mounted a
fantastic second half come-back. Ramiyah scoreed two
himself and Kevin Karchi scored a wonderful hat-trick,
including a stunning last minute volleyed equaliser.
This Thursday the team played Harborne Primary in the
semi-final of the Harborne Cup. We started strongly and
hit the post following a goalmouth scramble. Defensive
errors and lapses in concentration proved costly and
enabled Harborne to score 4 quick goals, before adding an
excellent fifth before half time. The team rallied in the
second half with Ramiyah Ubiaro again leading by
example. The performance improved and after striking
the bar and going close on two other occasions, Ramiyah
was able to score a deserved consolation goal after being
set up by some neat combination play with Jacob
Cunningham-Ebanks. Although we are disappointed to be
knocked out of the cup we were beaten by the better
team on the day and we would like to wish Harborne the
best of luck in the final.
The sports days will be based around 3 key themes; Culture, Celebration and Inclusion
Culture – Each class will represent one of the nations/civilisations they have studied this year with their colours, flags, banners
etc.
Celebration – A school we will celebrate the success of our pupils competing in the individual and team events and appreciate
the efforts of each child. Remember every participant scores points towards their team’s total score!
Inclusion – Every Child will be involved in at least 4 different events on the day.
All events are scheduled to take place outside on the school field, so Sports Day will unfortunately be at the mercy of our
unpredictable British summer weather. A reserve day on Thursday 2nd July has been booked in should either of the original
dates be washed out.
The PPTA will be running a concessions stall serving refreshments and your support on the day is more than welcome.

The Haunted Mansion (A story by Yusuf Elaydi)
A long time ago, there were two best friends called Yosof and John. They lived in the same house (which
was a mansion) and they had a butler called ‘KK’. Yosof and John were very rich. Yosof was an engineer and
John was a pilot. ‘KK’ however, was no ordinary butler. He was sneaky and clever and he’d been trying to
get rid of Yosof and John for years!
One day, Yosof discovered a very weird thing that KK had been doing. KK had been trying to place poison in
the toilet tap! So Yosof spoke to John secretly and told him what he’d found:
“Let’s only pay him £1 a day instead of the £50 we usually do. He’s trying to poison us!”
"No" said John, “let’s go to the library, get some books about spells and when we do that we can make an
invisibility cloak and find out what else KK has been up to”.
To be continued...
