VOLUME 1, ISSUE 1 October 5, 2015 BULLDOGS UPDATES New Faces at MSD Emily Thomas once said, “Never be too busy to meet someone new.” There are twenty-seven new faces here. So many to meet! Wow! MSD is growing and it's time to get to know the new friends. Starting with the Elementary Department, there is an MSD graduate. Shardee Bridges is from Jackson, Mississippi. She graduated from MSD in 2012. Now she’s a hard of hearing teacher assistant in the pre-kindergarten class. Shardee transferred to MSD as an eighth grader. She likes to braid hair and chat with friends. Of course, she loves it at MSD. Also in the elementary department is Jodyann Nipper from Idaho. She teaches preschool. She’s deaf but can hear a little. One of her proudest achievements is her track record at ISDB, which still stands. She enjoys cooking, making scrapbooks and riding bikes. She lives in Jackson. She likes MSD and thinks it’s beautiful here. Anquoindria (Nikki) Moore is a hearing person from Hopkinsville, Kentucky. She’s a senior at Jackson State University and works with prekindergarten students. She’s a great team player and enjoys playing soccer, signing and reading. Her home is Jackson and she enjoys working here. Chris Nipper is from Tennessee. He’s a deaf secondary history teacher. He has taught at four different deaf schools (Tennessee, Colorado, Arkansas, Mississippi). He loves to travel. He lives in Jackson. MSD is a new place for him and he loves our campus. Amber Bradley is from Pass Christian, Mississippi. She’s a hearing secondary science and social studies teacher. Spending time with her two daughters and watching Disney movies brings her joy. She resides in Ridgeland and loves it here. John McMahon, a deaf individual from Arkansas, lived in Texas before moving to Arkansas. He teaches Lego Robotics and Carpentry class. He likes spending time with his family, camping out and building campfires. Brandon is where his home is. He likes Mississippi. Stephanie Procter is a deaf person from Destin, Florida. She’s in graduate school and has accepted the role of middle school Language Arts teacher. One fact she shared is that she wears size 3 shoes and hasn’t grown since seventh grade. She enjoys reading books and exploring cities. She currently lives in Flowood, Mississippi. She feels she is adjusting to Mississippi southern hospitality, culture, signs and community perspectives related to Deaf’s needs or teaching, she likes it here. EDITOR JAI DORTCH 3 VOLUME 1, ISSUE 1 October 5, 2015 Cheryl Murray is a deaf teacher from North Carolina. She’s the new art teacher for kindergarten through high school. She was the prom queen, a cheerleader, and a member of the homecoming court. She participated in track, tennis and swimming. She rode dirt bikes for fun. She enjoys traveling, reading, making pottery and swimming. She lives in Ridgeland and likes it here. Jessica McMahon is a deaf person from Arkansas. She’s the Director of Curriculum and Instruction. She used to work in juvenile halls and prison. She loves being with her family. She lives in Brandon. “Like” is not her word to describe how she feels about MSD. “Kissfist” is the word! Someone once said, “It’s hard to forget someone who gave you so much to remember.” Brains all over MSD campus are filled with interesting and important facts about our new friends.
