TEAMS CHALLENGE

Register your team at the Secretary’s Office by 12 noon on the day
1st Prize: $300
2nd Prize: $200
3rd Prize: $100
RULES & REGULATIONS:
a) Each team shall consist of 8 members.
b) Only 2 members shall partake in each of the set races.
c) Both members must cross the finish line to record a result.
d) Bales of wool will be supplied by the Dalgety Show Society and will be drawn for at the start of each
race.
e) Wheelbarrows for the wheelbarrow race shall be supplied by Dalgety Show Society.
f) Bags of wheat will be supplied by the Dalgety Show Society.
g) Points will be awarded for each race win as follows:- Winner 3, second 2, and third 1.
h) The 3 teams with the highest aggregate points will compete in the final
COMPETITION
The challenge shall consist of 4 races.
RACE 1 – WHEAT LUMPING – 2 team members will carry either individually or as team a
standard bag of wheat from the start for 50 metres and return to the finish line. If carried as a team, both
members must carry the bag for the full distance and cross the finish line. If carried as individuals the
members must swap the bag at the 50 metre point and both cross the finish line.
RACE 2 – WHEELBARROW RACE – another 2 team members shall push a wheelbarrow
over a 50 metre slalom course with one member in/on the barrow. At the 50 metre mark the
competitors will swap roles and push to the finish.
RACE 3 – WOOL BALE ROLLING – another 2 team members will roll a bale of wool for a
distance of 30 metres in a slalom type course and turn around and return to the finish line.
Special Award - Gordon Litchfield Wool perpetual trophy plus $60 for the fastest wool bale rolling team.
RACE 4 – FLAG RACE – another 2 team members shall run flags out onto posts and retrieve
them. The first member shall take the flags out and place them into sockets on the posts. Once the first
flag has been placed on the post the second team member will race to retrieve the flag and place it in
the barrel at the start/finish line. The first team to place and retrieve all of the flags will be the winner
of that event.

Arthur Costello passed away in 2004 and in his memory the
Dalgety Show Society is proud to present this event named in his memory after
the gentle Irish giant facilitated tug-o-war challenges across the region for
many years.

RULES & REGULATIONS:
a) Competitors must be over 15 and under 25 years of age on 1st May in the year of the State Final at
the Royal Easter Show.
b) To be eligible to compete for Group Finals, competitors must live and/or work in the district for three
months, or be enrolled at a secondary or tertiary institution in the area.
c) No competitor can represent more than one show society in any one Group Final and no more than
one group in a State Final. The winners of a National Final cannot compete at any level in the
particular competition that they won.
d) Competitors will be eliminated from the competition if deemed by the chief steward to be receiving
outside assistance.
PROCEDURE
1. Three classes of animals are judged by competitors, each class consisting of a different breed.
If cattle available provide for only one or two classes, competition may still be conducted with
appropriate adjustment to scoring.
2. Animals in each class must be identified by “breastplates ” numbered 1-4, (not A,B,C,D) with
relevant age, weights and measurements on them (if available).This is essential when using the
Hormel Computing Slide.
3. The oral class of 4 animals will be nominated by the Overjudge or Chief Steward before judging
commences.
COMPETITION TIMING
From the point of view of the competitors, the animals and the spectators, it is important that
the whole competition be completed in approximately one hour.
In the case of 3 classes of animals being used, the timing would be as follows:
• Judging 3 classes
• Competitors’ oral tests
- 8 minutes each
- 3 minutes each

RURAL ACHIEVER AWARD
The 4th Annual Dalgety Show Society’s Rural Achiever Award is being held again this year.
The Dalgety Show Rural Achiever Award is open to both males and females aged between
20 and 29 years old, who live or grew up in the Snowy River Shire.
Applicants for the Award must be aged between 20 and 29 years of age as of March 2, 2014.
The Award aims to recognise young rural people who can make a significant contribution to
their local community and to rural Australia.
In previous years the Dalgety Show Society winners were Tim Dreverman in 2010, Geffrey
Keighley in 2011 and the Dalgety Show’s first female winner, Brittany Jackson in 2012/2013.

In all classes where cut material is shown, all stems must reach the water in the
receptacle.
All exhibits should be named; errors in naming will not be disqualified, but this can count in
very close competition.

All exhibitors must pay gate entry fee to enter showground.
Wristbands will be issued and must be worn on show day.
All competitors and exhibitors compete and enter at their own risk and will not
hold Dalgety Show Society responsible for any injury, loss or damage.
WORKSAFE
All stallholders and Exhibitors are expected to abide by all safety regulations and requirements to ensure
the Dalgety Show is a Safe and Worksafe compliant event. You are responsible for the Worksafe training
of yourself and your staff who are present at the Show.
All stallholders and Exhibitors must comply with all the reasonable Worksafe procedures and directives
as issued by the Dalgety Show Society representative and will take all reasonable practical measures
to ensure their own safety and not that of other site personnel, visitors and the general public including
the provision and use of all appropriate equipment and clothing.

CONDITIONS OF ENTRY
All Competitors and Exhibitors enter and compete at their own risk and will not hold Dalgety Show
Society responsible for any injury, loss or damage.
1.
Non-competitors are NOT allowed in ring during events.
2.
No pavilion entries accepted after 8:30 am Show day.
3.
Junior Sub Section in Pavilion 15 yrs and Under, unless otherwise stated.
4.
Pavilion entries should be not shown at a previous Dalgety Show.
No postal entries accepted.
5.
All Sheep and Cattle exhibitors to fill out Declaration Forms.
6.
Sheep and Cattle to be bred by exhibitor. Wool to be bred and grown by exhibitor.
7.
Sheep, Cattle and Poultry to be penned by 9:00 am. Wool entries to be in by 9:30 am.
8.
3rd place ribbons awarded if 5 in class in Sheep and Cattle sections
9.
All Protests must be in writing and delivered to the Secretary within 1 hour after
completion of judging.
10.
Dalgety Show Society takes no responsibility for loss or damage to exhibits.
11.
All exhibits to remain in Pavilion until 4pm.
12.
Pavilion prize money to be collected from the Treasurer’s office in the Pavilion between
4:00 and 5:30 pm. Horse prizemoney to be collected from Ring Secretary’s office.
13.
All trophies will be awarded on day of show.

The committee reserves the right to amend, delete or add to the program as they think necessary, and
reserves the right to reject or refuse entries without explanation. The committee reserves the right to
refuse admittance to any person or persons.
