Cordée de solidarité pour
un 4000" a eu lieu, à
Zermatt,
les
17-18
septembre 2011.
Conduites par 20 guides
de
la
station,
une
centaine
de
femmes
concernées par le cancer
du sein, sont venues de
19 pays européens et ont
tiré à la même corde pour
atteindre le sommet du Breithorn (4'162m). Un événement organisé par le
Zonta Club Morges-La Côte pour sensibiliser le public et les politiques sur les
problèmes quotidiens rencontrés par les femmes atteintes du cancer du sein
et leurs proches.

Solidarität" in Zermatt statt. Angeführt von 20

Frauen

ihre
Begleiterinnen und Begleiter das Breithorn
(4'162m) erklommen. Die Teilnehmer kamen
aus 19 europäischen Ländern in Zermatt
zusammen, um am selben Strang zu ziehen.
Der Zonta Club Morges-La Côte hat diese
Veranstaltung organisiert, um die Öffentlichkeit
und die Politik auf die täglichen Probleme
aufmerksam zu machen, denen von Brustkrebs
betroffene Frauen und ihre Angehörigen täglich
begegnen.
After the success of the 2008 event, a "second
rope of solidarity for a 4000m" took place in
Zermatt on the 17th-18th September 2011.
Lead by 20 guides from the resort, about one
hundred women, affected by breast cancer and
coming from 19 different European countries,
climbed together to attain the summit of the
Breithorn (4'162m). This event was organised
by the Zonta Club Morges-La Côte in order to
sensitise the public and politicians to the daily
problems that breast cancer patients and their
close friends and family encounter.

Hereby I and my daughter will thank you for

rope of solidarity event.
It was really very exciting to do the climbing of
the Breithorn and meet other bc survivors to
share the experience of being diagnosed of
breast cancer. You and your team did a
tremendous good job, it was really great.

Un grand merci pour l'organisation d'un tel événement, c'est absolument
grandiose et j'ai eu un immense plaisir à y participer. Les rencontres, les
émotions, les rigolades, la difficulté, tout était de la partie, sans oublier
cette petite fenêtre météo que nous avons eue.

Together, we won a victory over ourselves by climbing a 4000-meter peak, to prove to
the world, that there is a full life to be lived after breast cancer.
One in 3 persons is diagnosed with cancer at some point in their lives. Cancer affects
everyone.
One in 10 women is affected by breast cancer and they are increasingly younger.
Together, with our symbolic rope all the way up this mountain, we have demonstrated
that solidarity is essential in completing this physical challenge. Solidarity is equally
essential for overcoming the experience of breast cancer in real life.
We must ensure that the chances of surviving cancer and re-integrating into a full,
active and productive life are increased. Thanks to early diagnostics and awareness, a
growing number of patients survives, learns to live with breast cancer and can
reintegrate into normal life.
However more needs to be achieved to ensure that all possible facilities are in place to
support the reintegration of breast cancer survivors, so that they can resume full
activity after cancer.
To make this happen we need:
• Non-discrimination; for ex., unprejudiced access to loans and insurance
• Tailored assistance, in terms of physical and psychological rehabilitation
• Support and assistance to family members
• Facilitation of (re-)integration into the workplace
• Treatment from a multidisciplinary team of fully trained health care professionals;
with access for every woman, irrespective of place of residence, social status,
occupation and education, to quality screening for treatment and aftercare.
We are confident that through
solidarity, many people in society will
join us and take any action they can
to achieve these fundamental rights.
