Strategically important location As Entry and Exit point of Khyber Pass to Afghanistan. Afghanistan Having Population of about 35000 and Growth rate 3.5% having Literacy rate 42.7% G Geography h Landi Kotal is situated in the North Western Part of Peshawer. City Centre Consists of Rings. -Transport Links it with other Parts of L.K. 1- Old Shopping area in centre. Cantt - Market Growth is constraint by Cantt., Godowns on other while the Garages form barrier on northern side, however it is growing along road. 2- Newer Shops abutting Road. 3- Godowns and Garages. T d Trends 1- Cottage Industries. 2 – Multi story Shopping Areas. ISSUES 1- Limited Expansion possibility. 2- Encroachments. 3- Water, Sanitation and solid waste management Issues. 4- Male Dominated. 2 cant T.Khem 3 1 CASE STUDY-02: STUDY 02 CITY (Fatmi (F Kh l) Khel) 1- Located in the northern side of L.K abutting By-Pass road and Cantt. 2- Consisting of Shinwari Tribes. 3- Typical Living and construction pattern. 4- Accessible by Mazda Pickups plying in the area. cant TRENDS 1- Children playing in the open areas. 2- Elderly people sitting at corner. 3- Mud Boundary Wall and inside CC construction. 4- Extended Family System. ISSUES 1- Potable Water, Sewerage and Solid Waste Issues. 2- Un p paved streets. 3- No play Ground and park. 4- Floodways intersecting roads and streets acting as flood ways. 5- No or less Health Units especially for Females. 2 cant T.Khem 3 1 CASE STUDY-03: STUDY 03 PERIPHERY (Zakha (Z kh Khel) Kh l) 1- Located in the South Eastern part of L.K. at the entrance of the city. 2- Spread on Both side of the main road. 3- People belong to Afridi Tribes. 4- ISSUES 1- Same as the previous area. 2- With Higher security issues as NATO main supply runs through the area, and ones the road is block, residents cant avail any emergency services then. 3- High possibility of expansion.
