park newport view JULY 2009 ADMINISTRATOR’S COMMENTS The Park Newport staff works diligently to maintain “Park Newport for Park Newport residents.” The lobbies are locked to keep strangers out of your buildings. The facilities, like the pools, cardio room, and locker rooms, are also locked to restrict non-residents who don’t help pay for those services with their rent. But you also have to do your part. While we haven't had many problems in this area, it pays to stay vigilant. Don't give access to your building to anyone you don't personally know. The fact that you may have seen a face before doesn't mean the person still lives in the building. Be sure you know who's calling before you "buzz" them into the building. Don’t leave personal items in view inside your parked vehicles. If you see something that seems unsafe, call our Courtesy Patrol or the Police. Remember, access to the roofs is restricted to employees. The same goes for the facilities. Do you really want to share the locker room with an unknown non-resident? We often find the doors, especially to the cardio room, rigged to stay open so nobody needs a card to get in – including every Tom, Dick and Harry off the street. Please be responsible and report this behavior immediately when you see it. Holding the door open for someone without a key or a card isn't polite – it's irresponsible. EVENING MOVIES will be held at 7 pm. AFTERNOON LUNCHEON TUESDAYS FRIDAYS & SATURDAYS July 7 July 3 (6pm evening showing) INKHEART MADEA GOES TO JAIL Unbeknownst to his 12-year-old daughter Meggie (Eliza Bennett), bookbinder Mo "Silvertongue" Folchart (Brendan Fraser) has a secret ability to bring characters to life by reading their stories out loud. But when the wicked Capricorn (Andy Serkis) comes after her father, Meggie must rescue him. Based on the best-selling children's novel by Cornelia Funke, this enchanting fantasy co-stars Paul Bettany, Jim Broadbent and Helen Mirren. When a routine speeding incident turns into a fullblown highway "situation," Madea (Tyler Perry) mouths off to a cop and lands herself in jail, where she's suddenly trapped behind bars with more motherly instinct than she knows what to do with. But Madea's nurturing side comes in handy when she crosses paths with a recovering drug addict turned prostitute (Keisha Knight Pulliam) who needs all the love she can get. July 14 July 10 & 11 STREET FIGHTER: THE LEGEND OF CHUN-LI PUSH Undercover agent Chun Li (Kristin Kreuk) seeks justice and peace in this action-packed adaptation of the megahit video game franchise Street Fighter. Bison, Chris Klein as Nash, Michael Clarke Duncan as Balrog and Black Eyed Peas singer Taboo as Vega. Chun Li is known in gamer circles as "the First Lady of Fighting Games." On the run from the Division, a dangerous government agency that uses people with psychic abilities to do their bidding, telekinetic Nick Gant (Chris Evans) and clairvoyant Cassie Holmes (Dakota Fanning) team up to find a third psychic who can help them destroy the organization. But when the Division picks up their trail, it sends a powerful agent (Djimon Hounsou) to stop them at all costs. Paul McGuigan directs this thriller. July 21 KNOWING TWO LOVERS Fifty years after a time capsule was buried at a local school, teacher John Koestler (Nicolas Cage) examines its contents and discovers that it holds many shockingly true predictions. Soon, John is convinced that his family will play a role in an impending apocalypse. Rose Byrne co-stars as Diane Wayland, the daughter of the woman who first buried the capsule, in this tense blockbuster thriller from ace sci-fi auteur Alex Proyas. After his engagement falls through, Leonard Kraditor (Joaquin Phoenix) juggles the affections of Michelle (Gwyneth Paltrow), his beautiful, selfdestructive neighbor, and Sandra (Vinessa Shaw), the attractive, sensible daughter of his father's business associate. Writer-director James Gray's beautifully nuanced romantic drama is set in Brooklyn and also stars Elias Koteas. The film was nominated for the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival. July 28 CORALINE Curious young Coraline (voiced by Dakota Fanning) unlocks a mysterious door in her family's new home and is transported to an alternate universe that strangely resembles her own -- only better.
