More and more people are able to receive the mental health

is one bedroom on each unit area which is designed
specifically for disabled use. Each ward has its own enclosed
garden and each unit includes communal living areas and
kitchens.
The multi-disciplinary unit teams offer service users a wide
range of therapies and therapeutic activities. These are
designed to ensure that the patient experience is positive

instructor.

Pharmacy services
We are working in partnership with Lloyds
Pharmacy to provide a high quality pharmacy

Ridgeway
Ridgeway provides first class, secure
accommodation for our forensic mental
health and learning disability services.
We provide medium and low secure as well as rehabilitation
services and this facility has been carefully designed and
constructed to meet the very specific needs of these services.
Forensic mental health services
The adult mental health forensic service provides psychiatric
care for mentally disordered offenders, as well as for
individuals whose mental health problems and challenging
behaviour require medium and low secure accommodation.
Personal and community safety is a prime concern.
• Leystone provides low secure accommodation for male
(Fulmar) and female (Brambling) clients
• Adderstone provides medium secure accommodation
for men (Swift and Mandarin)
• Whinstone also provides medium secure
accommodation for men (Nightingale and Linnet) and
women (Bluebell and Rose)
The forensic mental health service team includes a wide
range of professionals who provide direct patient care or are
actively involved in supporting this care.
Our multi-disciplinary team works closely with individual
service users, their carers and families to develop bespoke
packages of care which are provided in a positive, nonjudgemental and socially inclusive manner.
Learning disability forensic services
The learning disability forensic service is designed to support
individuals who have been diagnosed with learning disability
and challenging behaviours. This can include individuals who
have a history of offending and mental health problems.
• Blakey provides low secure accommodation for men
(Harrier, Hawk, Kestrel, Kite, Eagle and Osprey)
• Rudland provides low secure accommodation for men
(Robin, Kingfisher and Heron) and women (Thistle, Ivy
and Clover)
With the right level of specialist support many of the people
who use our services are able to remain in the community
and our aim is to minimise the time they need to spend in
Roseberry Park.
Our inpatient team adopts a holistic approach to care, based
on the needs of the individual. They offer a broad range of
positive therapeutic treatments and individualised
programmes of occupational, domestic and leisure pursuits
that help create a supportive community network around the
individual.
Physical health and the health centre
It is important that that our service users have equal access
to routine physical health care services. This includes an
annual health check, individual support for those who need
to attend a general hospital and information on their medical
condition.
Ridgeway has a dedicated physical health care suite and
speciality physicians and general nurses ensure that
inpatients receive the physical health care they need. They
are supported by other professionals including dentists,
physiotherapists, dieticians, opticians, podiatrists and speech
and language therapists.

conditions. We admit people primarily from Middlesbrough
and Redcar and Cleveland.
There are two wards:
Westerdale North cares for people with functional
conditions such as depression and anxiety as well as
psychotic illnesses.
Westerdale South cares for people with organic conditions
such as dementia.
Each single, en-suite bedroom is on the ground floor with a
window seat overlooking the landscape of Roseberrry Park.
The unit has its own enclosed garden.
Patients receive their care from a multi-disciplinary team who
offer a range of therapies and therapeutic activities. Their
aim is to promote recovery and wellbeing so that patients are
discharged from hospital as early as possible.
The unit is part of a comprehensive service which including
the community mental health services, which are integrated
