Inseparable from the image of Auvergne, and
under consideration for classification as part of
the UNESCO World Heritage, is the Chaîne des
Puys range - 80 volcanoes stretching out in a
north to south row over 30 kilometres. The Puy de
Dôme is the jewel of the range, peaking at 1,465
metres high. Visitors can reach the site on foot or

A guided tour of one of the five most well-known
Romanesque churches in Auvergne, built during
the early 12th century. Its highly uniform
construction
has
undergone
very
few
modifications through the ages as its large
dimensions have precluded extensions. But the
interior décor has disappeared, along with its
embellishments. Notre Dame has been listed as a
Historic Monument since 1840. Don’t miss the
statue of the Vierge en Majesté in the church
chancel.
