started life in 1977 as Skoots (Moving
Systems) Ltd and has since become
a division within a larger group of
companies headed by BIL Group Ltd.
Because our product portfolio has
significantly expanded over time, we
have changed the trading name to
reflect what we do – which is backed by
a brand name that you can rely on.
BIL Group have a team of experienced
staff that are able to help and advise

complement of externally-based field
sales staff plus our dedicated team at
our head office in Calne, we are able to

our UK headquarters in Wiltshire.
At BIL we normally manufacture in
large production batches to achieve
economies of scale and to ensure that
we keep sufficient stock levels in the
UK to service both our domestic and
European customers.
An ongoing process of investment
has recently seen a large-scale
revamp of our warehousing and
production facilities, and our IT
has been migrated to a cloudbased solution. Our process
systems are continually monitored
and improved as part of our
overall QMS commitment to
ensure that BIL remains one step
ahead in the materials and product
handling industry.

With the continued growth of BIL comes
the need for more staff… works have now
been completed on the conversion of our
downstairs office and reception to form a new
Sales Manager’s office and an extended sales
department with additional workstations to
keep pace with growing demand.
We now have eight sales desks and a further
two Sales Managers’ desks on the ground floor
of our Calne headquarters. This is an integral
part of our overall expansion plan.
The further enlargement of this department
has ensured that our customers keep receiving
the most efficient user experience each and
every call.

As part of BIL’s ongoing commitment to continually
improve business processes and efficiencies, a
new digital call centre system has been installed.
Designed to monitor call-handling information
primarily within our Customer Contact Centre in
Calne, it has also resulted in improvements being
seen around the business. Critical information is
displayed on multiple wall boards throughout BIL
offices to ensure that our customers receive the
most efficient telephone experience.
Full integration with SAP business software
has improved call-handling efficiencies (both
incoming and outgoing) and remote users can be
connected to the same system for call reporting
and monitoring purposes. A process of continual
improvement through regular staff training has
raised the overall level of service to our customers.

or shape, in fact the best keeps getting better

Our Skoots SK2000 models and above feature new solid
heavy duty cast nylon wheels. The face, sides and bore
are machined to tight tolerances to ensure a consistent
quality product. Quality semi-precision ball bearings
ensure that the wheels roll well under heavy loads. With
low starting and rolling resistance, they represent a
marked improvement in durability and usability.
Precision engineering
Many design and material improvements have been
made across the whole Skoots range – including the use
of high-grade smooth-bore tube combined with new,
specialist piston seals plus ‘back-up’ seals and wiper
rings to improve the hydraulic system. Also the addition
of a self-lubricating piston bush serves to support the
piston rod when extended and helps make the unit even
more rigid.
Finally, the introduction of a new precision-engineered
valve block complete with reinforced reservoir cylinder
assembly, coupled with superior assembly procedures
and a stringent testing regime, have all been
undertaken as part of BIL’s policy of continuous product
review and improvement.
Locally-made
The range is made locally in the UK to exacting
standards that can be monitored to ensure consistent
quality. All manufacturing processes are undertaken
within the dictates of BS-EN-ISO 9001: 2008 Quality
Control Procedures. Independently type-tested and
certificated, the complete Skoots product is now more
reliable than ever before.

Skoots are strapped to the item being moved making it

in transit is only increased by a few millimetres helping
move items that are a tight fit through doorways etc.
Easy positioning... four swiveling castors allow the
load to be precisely manoeuvred and the hydraulic jacks
allow the load to be lowered into position in a controlled

feature new high quality European-made
impact-resistant cast nylon wheels which
are really well suited to tough applications.
These wheels are fitted with quality semiprecision ball bearings containing long-life
lubricant and have a high resistance to
aggressive substances from -30°C to +80°C.
With very low starting and rolling resistance,
they represent a marked improvement in
durability and usability.
Manoeuvrability... smooth-running castors with
precision ball bearing journals allow easy and controlled
steering around corners and obstacles.
High lift capability... maximum lift up to 400mm on
certain models.
360 degree rotation... heavy loads can easily be
turned within their own length. This unique feature
means that doorways, corridors and similar restrictions
can be negotiated easily and safely.
Directional locks... four-way directional locks fitted
to the castors are extremely useful when negotiating
corridors or when moving across floor surfaces with a
gradient.

WPD are the electricity distribution network operator for the
Midlands, South Wales and the South West, delivering electricity
to over 7.6 million customers within a 55,300 sq kms service area.
Total commitment is given to ensure that no-one is injured or has
their health damaged as a result of their business activity.
WPD were looking to improve the way in which products are

Our impressive stand at IMHX 2013
The International Materials Handling Exhibition (IMHX) is firmly
established as the UK’s premier intralogistics event. Taking place
every three years, IMHX provides visitors with the opportunity to
evaluate thousands of products and services from all sectors of the
logistics, materials handling, warehouse and storage industries.
With the UK’s logistics sector worth more than £75 billion, IMHX
presented BIL with a unique opportunity to engage with, and sell to,
key professionals from our large open-fronted display.
The UK’s leading intralogistics exhibition featured many impressively
designed stands, thousands of innovative exhibits, informative
seminars, a variety of entertainment and plenty of serious business.
With the highest ever footfall with over 19,500 visitors and a record

Terms & Conditions of Sale
IMPORTANT NOTES:
A.These terms and conditions are the only terms and conditions on which we will supply our goods, and all other terms that the customer seeks to impose or incorporate, or which are implied by trade, custom, practice or course of dealing, are excluded.
B.The customer’s attention is drawn to clause 9 below in which we limit our liability.
1. PAYMENT TERMS. Payment terms will be agreed with the customer
in respect of each order. Credit accounts are opened subject to
approved references. We may invoice the customer for the goods at
any time after the goods have been despatched from our factory.
2. DELIVERY. The goods shall be delivered at the place agreed with
the customer in respect of each order. The customer is responsible
for all charges for carriage and insurance which, if arranged by us,
will be invoiced to the customer. Any dates quoted for delivery are
approximate only, and the time of delivery is not of the essence.
Shortages must be advised within 3 days of receipt of goods otherwise
we cannot accept claims. We must be advised of any non-delivery
within 7 days of receipt of invoice otherwise we cannot accept claims.
3. RISK AND TITLE. Risk in the goods will pass to the customer on
delivery. The legal title in all goods supplied remains with us until we
receive payment in full (in cash or cleared funds) for both those goods
and any other goods that we have supplied to the customer in respect
of which payment has become due.
4. CANCELLATIONS cannot be accepted for goods requiring special
manufacture or modification. Goods may only be returned after
written agreement by us.
5. TELEPHONE/VERBAL ORDERS. All confirmation orders received
and not so marked shall be treated as new orders and if returned with
our permission will be subject to a 15% handling charge. This action is
regrettable but essential to enable us to maintain a competitive price
structure.
6. PRICES & SPECIFICATIONS. All quotations and specifications are
subject to alteration and to withdrawal without notice. While every
effort will be made to maintain prices as quoted, we can only accept
orders at prices ruling at time of despatch. If the quantity ordered is
less than that for which we quoted, we reserve the right to re-quote.
All recommendations and specifications are given to the best of our
knowledge and ability, but we cannot accept any liability which may
arise from their application. All prices are subject to any applicable
VAT.
7. ILLUSTRATIONS ETC. All illustrations, drawings etc. accompanying
or referred to in our quotations or contained in our catalogue,
price lists, or advertisements must be regarded as approximate
representations only except where otherwise specified and are not
binding in detail unless stated so to be in our quotations. All weights,
measurements, performance, capacities and other particulars of the
goods stated by us are stated in good faith as being approximately
correct, but do not form any part of the contract and shall not be made
the basis of any claims against us. We reserve the right to withdraw,
add to and alter any standard types in our range, and to alter prices
and terms, and do not undertake to carry stock of obsolete parts for
more than a limited period. We make no warranty for the suitability of
a product for a particular purpose.
8. WARRANTY. We warrant that the goods will be free from material
defects in design, materials or workmanship for a period of twelve*
months from date of despatch. Any defective products should be
returned to our factory together with your contact information. We
will credit / repair or replace any products at our discretion, which
we agree are non-compliant, and not due to misuse, overloading,
exertion nor due to fair wear and tear, wilful damage or negligence. We
cannot accept liability for any other expenses incurred by customers
on such defective products or for any direct or consequential damage
arising from such defect. Any modifications found to have been made
to the product will nullify the warranty. Our obligations set out in this
clause are the customer’s sole remedy in respect of any breach of the
warranty given in this clause. All other terms implied by statute or
otherwise that relate to performance, quality, fitness for purpose or
compliance with description, are, to the fullest extent permitted by law,
excluded.

* 5 Years on Skoots© model frames only.
9. LIABILITY. Provided that nothing in these terms and conditions shall
limit or exclude our liability for death or personal injury caused by our
negligence, or for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, we shall
under no circumstances whatever be liable to the customer, whether
in contract, tort (including negligence), breach of statutory duty, or
otherwise, for any loss of profit, or any indirect or consequential loss
arising under or in connection with the contract formed between us
for the supply of the goods in question, and our total liability to the
customer in respect of all other losses arising under or in connection
with such contract, whether in contract, tort (including negligence),
breach of statutory duty, or otherwise, shall in no circumstances
exceed the invoiced price of such goods, exclusive of VAT.
10. EXPORT SALES. Where the customer is based outside, or will
be using the goods outside, the United Kingdom, the customer is
responsible for obtaining, at its own cost, all such import licences and
other consents in relation to the goods as are required from time to
time and will if required make those licences and consents available
to us before despatch from our factory. If the customer is required
under any applicable law to withhold or deduct any amount from the
payments due to us, the customer shall increase the sum it pays to us
by the amount necessary to leave us with an amount equal to the sum
we would have received if no such withholdings or deductions had been
made.
11. FORCE MAJEURE. Neither party shall be liable for any failure or
delay to the extent that such failure or delay is caused by any event
beyond a party’s reasonable control including industrial disputes,
failure of utility services, acts of God, war or other armed conflict,
terrorism, riot, civil commotion, malicious damage, breakdown of plant
or machinery, contamination, explosion, fires, floods, natural disasters
or extreme adverse weather conditions.
12. LAW AND JURISDICTION. The contract between us and the
customer, and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection
with it or its subject matter or formation (including non-contractual
disputes or claims), shall be governed by, and construed in accordance
with the law of England and Wales, and each party irrevocably agrees
that the courts of England and Wales shall have non-exclusive
jurisdiction to settle any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection
with such contract or its subject matter or formation (including noncontractual disputes or claims).
