Since his ban from filmmaking in Iran in 2010,
Jafar Panahi has smuggled out two films while
under house arrest. His third outlaw film – and his
most upbeat - was the Winner of the prestigious
Golden Bear for Best Film at Berlin. Panahi’s
latest takes to the streets of Tehran for a playful,
insightful portrait of his country by bringing his
filmmaking to the people, by driving passengers
around Tehran in a camera-equipped taxi.
For over 5 years the “Citizen Kane” of bad movies
has been the cult hit of Perth. Enjoy Tommy
Wiseau’s disasterpiece - so terrible, it’s terrific.
In Quentin Tarantino’s new film Jennifer Jason
Leigh plays Daisy Domergue, a notorious outlaw
on her way to the gallows courtesy of bounty
hunter Kurt Russell. After they become stranded
in a blizzard, they seek shelter at a stagecoach
stopover, where they encounter a collection of
colourful individuals including Bruce Dern,
Samuel L. Jackson, Tim Roth & Michael Madsen.

Thomas Keneally and Dr Tony Moore.

Casey Bennetto (Keating! – The Musical)

They were the studio musicians behind some of
the biggest hits in the 1960s and '70s. From Be
My Baby to California Girls; Strangers in the Night
to Mrs. Robinson; You've Lost that Lovin' Feelin' to
Up, Up and Away; the group dubbed The Wrecking
Crew played on them all. Directed by the son of
legendary late Crew guitarist Tommy Tedesco,
this documentary pays tribute to the musicians
that formed the backbone to the golden age of
pop music backing Frank Sinatra, The Monkees,
The Byrds, Mamas and the Papas, Sonny & Cher
and The Beach Boys.
SCREENING: MON DEC 14 to WED DEC 16
THE REVENANT (CTC)
The beautiful mind of Charlie Kaufman has never
been so animated. The Being John Malkovich
writer’s new film (with Duke Johnson) is a stopmotion animation, complete with puppet copulation. Michael (David Thewlis) is a man crippled by
the mundanity of his life who's jarred from his
stupor by the angel-voiced Lisa (Jennifer Jason
Leigh) who may or may not be the love of his life.
Tom Hardy is a mercenary fur trapper who will
soon regret abandoning Leonardo DiCaprio in
unforgiving 19th-century terrain in the latest film
from the director of Birdman and Babel.
