New Kids on the Board Letter from the Board President GMA Board of Trustees Dear friends, Since joining the board of the Greenville Museum of Art, I have stood in a fair number of galleries; in Richmond and Raleigh, Pittsburgh and Philly, New York and D.C. I've had jaw-dropping experiences in the Warhol Museum (his early work!) and the National Gallery. Just last month, while on an orientation tour with new board members, I had a jaw-dropping experience in our museum. The thing is, it wasn't my first jaw-drop in our space. Ashley-Nicole Russell Michael Crane, Pres. Wade Scales Brian Farkas Thomas Stroud, Jr. Pres. Julianne Greer, Sec. I'm pleased with the museum’s education and outreach programs and our commitment to town and gown programming. ECU's Downtown Dialogues has found a home at the museum and one-off events like last year’s standing-room-only Batman lecture, presented by the ECU Department of English, brought a new audience into our space. Pitt Community College hosts an exceptional annual graphic design show that is another example of how our museum enhances the quality of this community. Dawn Raiford, Treas. If you haven't set foot inside our museum recently, please peruse the upcoming events and make a commitment to attend. I’m hoping that you’ll find your experience jaw-dropping. Sincerely, Michael Crane GMA Board of Trustees President Sandra Swan, 2nd Vice Pres. Thomas Taft, Jr. I am a museum geek, and I love this museum above all others. I love the quality of the exhibitions—do get ready for some amazing installations over the next several months. I love the events—the Artini happenings with their energy, the exhibition receptions with guest artists who are overjoyed with the support of our community, and, of course, the Fine Arts Ball. Our museum—our awesome, accredited, relevant, essential, engaged and proactive museum—houses great art, great people and great fun. Sherri Randall Javier Castillo, Jr. Dewane Frutiger, 1st Vice Stacy Jarrell John Tipton, Past Pres. Cassius Williams Cynthia Jowers Endowment The Greenville Museum of Art Endowment is a crucial funding source to ensure that our mission to provide and promote visual art through collection, exhibitions, and education continues indefinitely. We will honor your request and be sure to publish in the Museum Muse. Sincerely, Grady B.
