Our Swiss Village Families
By Glory Towns
What is a family? If you asked several people, you would receive various answers. But they all would agree that
the members of their family have these traits in common: they love one another, live together, help one another,
have fun together, share their lives together – the good and the bad. Each family has its own story to tell. Our
Swiss Village family has approximately six hundred members. Each one has a story to tell, also. Getting to know
a member of your family is part of family life. Each month, we will have an opportunity to learn more about one
of our own Swiss Village family members, and we can grow in our own family life!
Our beloved family member featured this month is Jan Wise. Jan has been a Swiss Village family member for 6
years now. Since she was widowed three years ago, she has been living with another Swiss Village family
member, Carol Wilkins, at 4 Alpine Dr.
Jan loves to play her beautiful music for our Swiss family on the new
Clavinova. Concerning the Clavinova, she says, “I really like it. It was a
very smart purchase. It is extremely versatile. Anyone can learn to use it
by taking a class in Lakeland, using a DVD, or reading the manual. There
is prerecorded music on it, things to download, and anyone can learn to
play it from a beginner to advanced. It also moves easily for use in the
clubhouse.”
The Clavinova was not totally paid for out of HOA funds, Instead,
many individuals, CRF, and the Kitchen Band contributed in diminishing
the cost. Our Ombudsman, Dick Nash, said there was only $345 left as of
the last HOA board meeting. He stated, “And so, the Board voted for the
HOA to absorb the final debt. Therefore, the Clavinova is paid for!” A
big thank you to all who contributed!
Jan plays the Clavinova for the Kitchen Band and enriches various
programs in our community. She enjoys volunteering with other Swiss
family members in visiting nursing homes. You can hear Jan playing her
music as she directs our village’s chorus every Monday afternoon at 1pm.
She also loves to play bridge with other Swiss family members.
When Jan isn’t snow-birding in our village, she can be found in her home town of Troy, Ohio. “I’m a
Buckeye!,” Jan says with pride. “My son and his wife and two daughters are Buckeyes, too.” Jan graduated from
“The”(Jan’s emphasis is on "The”.) Ohio State University and has taught music in elementary, high school, and
colleges back there. She’s retired now, but she could fool us for the time she spends daily playing her songs for
us here. And we’re glad she does! Jan also has a daughter and her husband and two sons living in Germany. Jan
talks about her two bilingual grandsons with such delight.
And what does Jan like about Swiss Village? She replies with enthusiasm, “The people! They are all so warm
and friendly. This is such an inviting community.” With family members like Jan Wise, how could it not be a
warm, friendly, and inviting community?! Thank you, Jan, for all you do for our Swiss Village Family! Happy
music making!
If you know of other members of our Swiss Village Family with interesting or unusual experiences or backgrounds

PLUCKIN’ IN THE PARK
Tom Bertz
Come and join Swiss Village’s own A to Z Band
(that’s Alpine to Zermatt) on March 25th as we play
some old-time campfire and sing-a-long tunes in the
park area near the putt-putt golf course.
Along with the old-time songs, we’ll be doing
numbers from the 50’s and even the 60’s. So, bring
your guitars and banjos if you have them. If not - just
bring your clapping hands and stomping feet along
with your voices.
The fun starts at 4 pm and ends somewhere in the
neighborhood of 5:30 so bring your chairs and join
us. Everyone is welcome. Rescheduled if raining.
NEWS & ANNOUNCEMENTS
SWISS VILLAGE ART
Mike Cassaro
Aline Lampley
We are pleased to report that the arts are back in the
Park. A new art group (with some past members as
well as new) has been organized and will meet at the
clubhouse on Wednesdays from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
There are currently anywhere from 8 to 10
participants and our hope is to grow from there.
By painting together we can benefit from each other's
experience and keep ourselves inspired and
motivated. We intend also to plan field trips to area
art shows and exhibits, art galleries, demonstrations
and other attractions, of interest to the group. Some
of these outings could possibly include a luncheon.
The group is open to anyone interested in the arts,
regardless of medium used or skill level achieved.
There are current talented members who can help.
A description of the type of activities planned by the
group, as well as a sign-up sheet is posted on the
bulletin board at the clubhouse,
For more information please contact either Mike
Cassaro (815-298-1193), or Aline Lampley (615-519
-2700). Or just stop by the clubhouse some
Wednesday afternoon to see what we're all about.
Bring your painting materials, if you have them, and
join in the fun.
FEED THE NEEDY
Sue Trumitch
Spring is on the way! To anyone going north who
wants to clean out their pantry, I will take any nonperishable food for the Feed The Needy program. My
number is 863-268-8305 to have it picked up, or you
can drop it off at 173 Zermatt Drive.
Remember the 3rd Wednesday of every month you
can bring non-perishable food to coffee hour and
receive free coffee and doughnut tickets.
If you want to donate groceries and don’t have time
to shop for Feed The Needy, I still take cash
donations. I will shop with coupons and BOGOs to
try to at least double the amount of groceries for the
amount of money donated.
Thank you for your generosity!

HOA NEWS & ANNOUNCEMENTS
Message From the President
Tom Bertz
At our February General Park Meeting, the Board announced the formation of two new committees that will hopefully play
important parts in the ongoing environment in the community.
The first committee formalized was the Communications Committee. The members of the committee will work to
proofread the Yodeler and, more importantly, suggest additional content areas for the newsletter. They will also work with
content on our web site (www.swissvillage.us), our Yodeler email distribution list, our Bulletin Boards and explore other
ideas for “getting a consistent message” out to the community.
The members of the Communications Committee are Judy Anderson, Wendy Seguin, Glory Towns, Cheryl Lundy and Tom
Bertz. We encourage any other interested community members to join the committee.
The second committee formed was the Statutory Committee authorized by Florida Statute 723.037(4). Committee members
are Tom Bertz, Steve George, Ken Vanderbilt, Larry Goodwin and Mike Cassaro. This committee will negotiate with A-M
Properties on behalf of all home owners in matters of rent increases, decrease in services or utilities, or changes to rules and
regulations and the park prospectus.
The Board will be meeting early in March to review our financial processes and practices. I anticipate a number of changes
to our bylaws, particularly in the area of financial reporting, accounting practices and audit requirements.
As always, feel free to contact me with any concerns or comments. I’ll try my hardest to get you answers!

NURSING HOME & ASSISTED LIVING REPORT
Sue Trumitch & Diane Vanderbilt
We continue to do good things at Haines City Health Care and Palm Krest Assisted Living in Haines City. Sue
Trumitch has come on board to help as Muriel Nash has a lot on her plate as Chair of the Activities Committee.
Thanks so much for all you did, Muriel.
We provided napkin rings and napkins for both places for Christmas and the Ladies of Swiss Village provided
pajamas and nightgowns for Christmas at Palm Krest. We also sent clothing to Palm Krest along with toiletries,
used cards and Valentines with bags of chocolate candy.
We also went to Palm Krest and did nails this month. We provided lap robes, catheter bag covers, used cards and
spring table decorations for Haines City Health Care. The new cards and blank notes were given to Winter
Haven Senior Center.
We really appreciate all that you do. If you have things that won’t fit in the basket at the clubhouse or have
questions, please call Sue Trumitch (268-8305) or Diane Vanderbilt (224-5655).
