The umpire will, based upon his judgment, enforce the profanity rule by calling the next batter out on the offending team. If the team is at bat, and there is profanity used in any form, then the next regularly scheduled batter will be ruled out, and not allowed to bat. If the team is on defense and the profanity offense occurs, then that team’s first scheduled, 4/23/2012 CLUTE ADULT SOFTBALL RULES AND REGULATIONS 2012 Page 9 of 19 physical batter in the next inning will be ruled out. This behavior, if flagrant in the opinion of the umpire or park official, will automatically cause the teams involved to forfeit their next scheduled game as well. 9. C. 9. D. Please have a good time and enjoy your recreational time, but remember everyone else would like to enjoy their time here also. It’s a game, have a little fun. 2.) ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES – (NO GLASS CONTAINERS AT PARK) If you must drink alcoholic beverages at Stratton Ridge Sportsplex, we have a very simple rule. You may drink before and after your game. You cannot drink alcoholic beverages during the 55 minute ball game. We ask that you respect this rule. It’s simple = okay before and after, but not during. 3.) APPROVED LEAGUE SOFTBALL - All teams will hit the same brand / model ball during the 2012 Clute Stratton Ridge Sportsplex and Lake Jackson MacLean Park softball leagues. Each team will receive one half dozen balls at the manager’s meeting. If your team needs to purchase more softballs, they will be available at both complexes for a reasonable price. We will be approaching Academy about stocking this ball in their Lake Jackson store. Call Clute 265-8392 or Lake Jackson 297-4533 regarding pricing, location and availability of softballs for slow pitch softball leagues. The penalty for using a different ball in a league game and being properly protested will be immediate forfeiture of the game being played, if the infraction is brought to the umpire’s attention by the opposing team or parks official. If the offending team corrects the ball situation before the opposing team “protests” then all play stands, the correct ball is entered into the game and play continues. 4.) CITY OF CLUTE WEBSITE - www.ci.clute.tx.us From the first page, click on Departments, on the drop down menu click on Parks and Recreation, on the drop down menu click on Facilities, on the drop down menu click on Stratton Ridge Sportsplex. The Stratton Ridge Sportsplex page will have ALL of the information you will need to know about adult softball leagues in Clute. Schedules, Rain Out information, reschedules, upcoming tournaments and / or leagues. We need email addresses from each team, at least one or two, all teams will be notified by email for such events as make up games, change in schedule, forfeits, etc. This is the most efficient way for us to contact each team. Please make sure that the parks department has a current email address for the manager or assistant manager of each team. 5.) FAMILY ATMOSPHERE RULE – Please watch your language and actions while on the playing field and / or bleacher area. There are many people who come and cheer on their friends and family members. Sometimes frustrations build and things are said, but please try to control these outburst. This rule gives the umpires a tool, to keep things under control on the playing field. Please keep in mind that this is a “recreational” opportunity for you and not a place you should be releasing frustrations and obscenities at fellow participants. 4/23/2012 CLUTE ADULT SOFTBALL RULES AND REGULATIONS 2012 Page 13 of 19 15. 2012 ASA Playing Rule Changes with Comments NOTE: All changes below are effective January 1, 2012 unless otherwise noted. Rule 8 Section 7L: When a runner intentionally contacts a fair batted ball that an infielder has missed.
