Pex tubing replaces copper and cpvc for water supply lines. It installs quickly and
simply with barbed brass fittings and steel crimp rings. It is also used in radiant heat
applications. Currently, we stock a full line of 1⁄2” and 3⁄4” tubing, fittings and tools.

Energy Resource by Superior
Due to increased interest in garage heating, ERS will be promoting
the “HOT DAWG” hanging garage heater by Modine. These units are
propane or natural gas, ranging in sizes from 30,000 to 125,000 BTUs.

Our seminar and training schedule will be released soon for the first quarter of 2010. We have
expanded our list of topics to include 3D Modeling for GPS machine control and site staking.
3D modeling is the latest “buzz word” in both the construction market AND Surveying/Engineering.
As the use of GPS becomes more widely accepted, the need for experienced CAD technicians to build
these 3D “models” is growing. Our seminar will review the basics of modeling in 3D, while introducing
Carlson’s “Construction” software.
Many of our customers have GPS now. Currently, most are sending their files to 3D Modeling companies across the country, but may be interested in learning to do this work themselves.

3D Modeling for GPS machine control and Site staking. The widespread use of GPS is
creating the need for 3D Modeling technicians for file preparation. This seminar will
introduce you to the concept of 3D modeling and some of the procedures, and issues,
that you should understand before undertaking this work.
4/1 & 2
Foundation Layout. Learn modern layout techniques and get a grip on your productivity
and profitability! Featuring the Trimble LM80 and total station.
4/8 & 9
Site staking with total station, Carlson SurvCE & robotics. Capability = Productivity.
This basic training class will show you how you can take control of your layout, reducing
delays and increasing your bottom line.
4/22 & 23
Earthwork Estimating, GPS site staking and Machine Control seminar. Watch as a CAD file
for a typical job is transformed into a 3D model and use to generate volume and material
quantity reports. See how PDF image files can be used to generate accurate Volumes,
and get your hands on a working GPS rover and see how you can stake out using the
same data created for your take-off.

Carlson Software
has released the
2010 version of
their line of software. This release includes many new features, some specific to the software target
market, but all have the ability to read/write AutoCAD 2010 DWG files. It is expected that the 2010
DWG format will be the standard drawing format for the next 3 years (when it is expected that Auto
Desk will change it).
In addition to 2010 DWG file compatibility, most of the 2010 Carlson Software products will now
import Microstation DGN files. Microstation is the CAD program used by most D.O.T’s, including
Connecticut D.O.T.
If you work with AutoCAD files, or do a lot of DOT work, we can offer you a fully compatible, less
expensive option to “AutoCAD.”
