Hello Neihardt Families, It’s hard to believe that this is the last newsletter for the 15-16 school year. Although we are coming to a close (24 days left) we still have a lot of learning that is going on in our classrooms! Please see the calendar above for dates/times of many special end of year events that are happening. These are times that memories are made and we hope you are able to join us where possible. From Field Day to Field Trips to Class Picnics, it’s a busy time of year for our Knights. With changes in schedules, we would ask that you talk with your children about the importance of our school rules to remind them of expectations that will help them end the year in a positive way: It’s never okay to be disruptive, it’s always okay to be a good learner and ask for help. It’s never okay to be hurtful, it’s always okay to be kind and helpful. Field Day is on Thursday, May 19th, we are looking for volunteers to help facilitate field day stations. Please see sign up form inside. We would love to have you here to help! On Monday May 23rd, our students will experience a little about the next grade level and meet the grade level teachers during our “Moving On Up” event. We hope that you have marked your calendars for our annual celebration of learning, “Knights At The Museum”. On Friday, May 13th, the teachers and students will present their “museums” of learning this year. This is an open house event from 67:30. Come join us for a night to celebrate what is important here at Neihardt– your kids and learning. The PTO raffle baskets are looking pretty bare. Please consider donating an item. The raffle tickets order form will go home on Friday, May 6th. As you are aware, the last day of school is Tuesday, May 24th at noon. We are serving breakfast but no lunch. Due to construction, the building will be closed from May 25th– Aug 3. Mrs. Novotny-Buss and Mrs. Svoboda will be working from another location. All phone calls will be forwarded and responded to until June 23rd. The school office will be closed from June 24-Aug 3. Please look mid-July for the Summer Mailer with teacher placements and other important start of school information. We always Counselor’s Corner by Mrs. Mangan It's May! For those of us working with your children at Neihardt, it is a bittersweet time of year. We have new little Knights we will be welcoming at Kindergarten Round Up. Then we have 5th grade Knights leaving us for larger pastures. Wasn't it just the last time we looked that they were our new Little Knights?! In the proverbial blink of an eye, we say goodbye to one group and hello to another! We hope to send 5th grade off with life and academic skills and confidence for new growth in their journey to adulthood. If you can reinforce one message to your 5th grade student, let it be "You are a Knight! You make a difference! You do amazing things! Go forward and Persevere!" They will remain in our hearts! What wonderful human beings you have in your hands! Happy Summer and stay safe!
