Group Rates China Exhibit In April 2003, the Memphis Zoo became one of only four zoos in the United States to exhibit giant pandas. Giant pandas Ya Ya and Le Le reside the Zoo’s exhibit, China – a three-acre facility that features animals indigenous to China and authentic Chinese architecture and gardens. The Exhibit Features 14 different species: Asian Small-clawed Otter, Azure Winged Magpie, Fracois Langur, Giant Panda, Himalayan Monal Pheasant, Hog Deer,Hooded Cranes,Mandarin Duck Pere David’s Deer, Red-billed Blue Magpie, Smew, Temminck’s Tragopan Pheasant, White-cheeked Gibbon, and White-Napped Crane. If you bring a group of 20 or more, will receive a 20% discount on the price of general admission tickets. Tickets are available by calling 901-333-6543. Reservations are encouraged. If you have a group of 20 or more, you are entitled to the group discount at the front gate. Admission price includes entrance to all exhibits. Zoo Concessions Have an appetite as big as a tiger? Come to the Cat House Café at the end of the Nile River to feast on great food. And, while you stroll through the Zoo, don’t miss the many concession stands serving food, drinks and snacks. Concession stands are open seasonally during Zoo hours, and weather permitting. About the Zoo It all began in 1906 with a black bear named Natch, a retired baseball mascot. Today, the Memphis Zoo spans 70 acres and is home to more than 3,500 animals representing over 500 different species. The Memphis Zoo has completed more than $77 million in renovation and expansion since the early 1990s. The Zoo’s animal inhabitants reside in one-of-a-kind exhibitry, such as Once Upon A Farm, Commercial Appeal Cat Country, Primate Canyon, Animals of the Night, Northwest Passage and China. As an accredited member of the American Zoo and Aquarium Association, the Memphis Zoo works cooperatively with animal facilities and organizations around the world in order to further its mission to preserve wildlife through conservation, education and research.
