“Almost-a-Mile.” Both courses travel along paved city trails
and around lakes before finishing at the Veterans’ Memorial
Amphitheater in Wolfe Park. All proceeds support the St.
Louis Park Youth Scholarship Fund. Registrants receive a

Have a hoppin’ good time hunting for colorful eggs and

the Big Bunny Coloring contest to be judged

restore the Nature Center forest.
The rain garden workshop (Part A) gives property owners all
the information they need to install a rain garden, redirect
downspouts and select native perennials that don’t require
fertilizers or pesticides, and whose long roots help draw the
water deep into the soil.
Bookmark in the Park is a new partner to the Earth Day
and Arbor Day celebration. Bookmark in the Park is a
community-wide reading program with the motto, “Make
a good book better, read it together.” Its theme for 2010
is the environment. Author Lee Ann Landstrom will read
and sign her co-authored book, “Nature’s Yucky: Gross
Stuff that Helps Nature Work.” Dozens of books will be
given away too. Refreshments provided.

A next step to the Part A workshop, this two-hour small
group workshop will focus on the plans you developed
from the Part A workshop. You will receive personalized
advice from Metro Blooms Landscape Design Assistants
and Hennepin County Master Gardeners who are trained in
landscape architecture, rain garden design and horticulture.

Park & Run Family Fun Run/Walk
Community members and organizations are invited to
attend this annual event, which honors youth in our
community for their spirit of caring and concern for
others. The Caring Youth Recognition was started in 1989
by Roland and Doris Larson. To date, 388 youth have
been recognized through St. Louis Park’s Caring
Youth Recognition. Register online at www.

“Almost-a-Mile”. Both courses travel along paved city trails

support Teens Alone, a non-profit organization providing free
and confidential counseling and crisis services for teens and
their parents. Last year, Teens Alone responded to 400 crisis
calls from teens and families in St. Louis Park.
They also provided one-on-one counseling services to almost
90 St. Louis Park youth; many of whom were homeless.

Summer Skateboard Series
All ages and abilities
Participate in the 4th Annual Skateboard series sponsored by
3rd Lair Skate Park. Participants compete against other skate
boarders at skate parks across the Twin Cities. Points will be
given to each competitor based on their final standings during
each contest. Winners of each division in each contest will
receive passage to the Midwest Melee held at 3rd Lair near the
end of summer. Participants will be divided into three levels to
match ability. 3rd Lair Skate Park is an independent business
and not affiliated with the City of St. Louis Park. This event is
scheduled as a service to the residents of St. Louis Park.
Mini-U.S. Open
Ages 3 - 6 (children must be accompanied by an adult)
Tee-off on the Oak Hill Park mini nine-hole golf course.
Participants will use a special plastic golf set and sponge golf
balls (which will be supplied) while their parent or guardian
caddies. Schedule tee times starting at 11:30 a.m. by calling

Farmers Market On The Plaza
All ages
The Twin Cities FM Amateur Radio Club will be participating
in the National Emergency Radio Exercise sponsored by the
American Radio Relay League. This type of communication
capability has proven invaluable during national disasters.
During this 24-hour event, thousands of radio contacts will
be made throughout the United States and Canada. This
is a wonderful opportunity to stop by and see emergency
communication in action.

The market will feature an assortment of locally grown
products direct from the farmer/grower as well as fresh
baked goods, and beautiful art pieces. “Farmers Market on
the Plaza” is a member of Minnesota Grown. The market
is located on the plaza adjacent to The Rec Center and
Aquatic Park. Potential vendors can get an application

Fireworks at Aquila Park are a St. Louis Park tradition!
Concessions, vendors and a special performance by Stevie and the
Table Rockers (rock-n-roll music) will be at the park 7 p.m. – 9:30
p.m. Fireworks begin at approximately 10 p.m. Although leashed
dogs are allowed in our parks, we strongly discourage them from
attending due to their hearing sensitivity.

National Night Out
Each year, Neighborhood Watch block captains throughout
St. Louis Park organize block parties to celebrate National
Night Out and neighborhood associations organize larger
events throughout the city. You do not need to be a block
captain to organize a National Night Out event for your
neighbors. If you are interested, please visit the city’s website

Night Out” for further information and registration
materials. National Night Out packets will be available
online and sent out to block captains in June.

Experience ART in the Park.
Our art programs allow kids to explore a variety of media, methods, and themes.
ART in the PARK
These classes are hosted by The Minnetonka Center for the
Arts, a non-profit community based organization providing
affordable instruction in the visual arts.
All classes will be held at Wolfe Park Pavilion,
3700 Monterey Drive, St. Louis Park.

Ages 5 – 7
3-Dimensional Masks
Students will look at different masks from various cultures
and discuss their purposes, rituals and styles. Then we will
design and create our 3-dimensional masks using paper
sculpting and other art making techniques. Tag board,
cardboard and various arts and crafts materials will be used.

Amazing Animal Sculptures
Your love of animals will be rewarded as you learn to make
3-dimensional animal forms with wire, paper mache,

Amazing Animal Cartoons
Do you love to draw, create characters and make up your
own cartoons? In this class we’ll look at different cartoon
and illustration styles for inspiration and then create some

Ahoy Mateys! If you enjoyed our Pirate Island camp
last summer, set sail for a new Pirate Adventure this
summer! Our Mateys will learn to draw a portrait of
themselves as a pirate, make sea monsters, create their
own pirate hats, sculpt doubloon necklaces, collage
a treasure map, paint a gigantic alligator and even
decorate a treasure chest! Along the way we’ll go on
a treasure hunt, play games, sing pirate songs, and
read pirate stories. Arrrrgh! Costumes welcome!
Children leave camp with seven art projects.
Back by popular demand with NEW lessons! Does your
daughter love girly things? If so, this is the camp for her! In
this girls only camp, we’ll paint our own art apron, sculpt
ceramic sunflowers out of clay, make paper mache bowls, and
decoupage a jewelry box. We’ll even have the girls bring their
favorite doll to class so we can paint a portrait of our doll on
stretched canvas. Along the way we’ll listen to girly music,
paint our nails, sculpt, draw, paint, collage and more while
using lots of glitter, tissue paper and jewels. Campers leave

Minnehaha Creek Canoe Trip
Step To It Community Challenge

Here’s an opportunity to canoe down Minnehaha Creek!
This opportunity is offered in partnership with the
Minnetonka Parks & Recreation Department. There are
two route options - both begin at Headwaters Park. The
4.5-mile option concludes in Minnetonka at County Road
73. The 8-mile option concludes just past Creekside Park
off of Louisiana Ave. by Methodist Hospital in St. Louis
Park. Participants meet at the Minnetonka Ice Arena
parking lot where they will be transported to Headwaters
Park. Once participants arrive at the planned take-out point
(County Road 73 or the St. Louis Park location) the dial-aride number must be called for pick up and shuttle service
back to the arena. All equipment is provided for the trip;
however participants are welcome to bring their own personal
floatation devices. All participants are expected to bring a cell

The Step To It Community Challenge is a fun, light-hearted
way to connect with family, friends, and neighbors and get
moving again after a long winter. Eighteen cities will compete
to see which one has the most active residents. Participants
from each city will have a chance to be honored by Hennepin
County and the Minnesota Twins at a Twins home game
during the 2010 season. As a Step To It participant, you
will keep an ongoing total of the steps you take during the
challenge. Using an activity conversion chart other activities
such as biking, skateboarding, Tai Chi, or even just mowing
the lawn can count toward overall steps. A website will
allow you to record your steps online. Best of all, it’s FREE!

Indoor Skateboard Camps at 3rd Lair
Ages 6 and older
The St. Louis Park Parks and Recreation Department is
working with 3rd Lair Indoor Skate Park to offer three
exciting indoor skateboard camps for beginners to the
boarding experts and everybody in between. The basics are
taught, like balance, pushing, dropping in, skate park safety
and etiquette. Instructors are experienced in the sport and
have years of teaching knowledge. Equipment needed for
camp includes a skateboard and helmet. Knee pads, elbow
pads; wrist guards are recommended. All equipment is
available at no extra charge if needed. All participants are
welcome to stay and board after the instruction concludes.

Parents interested in volunteering to coach their child’s
T-ball team, Little Kicks Soccer team, or Kicks Soccer team
will have their child’s registration fee returned at the end of

Volunteer Coaching Policy
Sandlot T-Ball & Baseball
Ages 5 – 10 (children must be accompanied by an adult)
This is an all-game format where kids play and adults organize
the games each week. There are three levels: T-ball (5-6 year
olds), pitch by coach (7-8 year olds) and kid pitch (9-10 year
olds), and each level is limited to 48 registrants. There are
no team T-shirts, no schedules, no standings, no permanent
coaches, no make-up games and no traveling.
Each youth participant will bring their glove, a parent
(parent must stay at the field for the entire time), loose
clothing and a great attitude. All the game equipment is
provided. Each Sunday afternoon, two or three volunteer
parents put the kids onto teams, flip a coin to see who bats first
and the game begins. Volunteer parents assist with officiating,
safety, rotating positions, pitching (7-8 year old level only),
batting order, etc.

Our playground program allows children to participate in
athletics, games, crafts and summertime fun in a supervised
setting. Summer seasonal staff will lead the program and
present over six weeks of themed activities. Children are
welcome to attend as often as you wish. Your fee covers all
visits! Pre-registration is required. Playground sites may be
closed during inclement weather and extreme heat (exceeding

This camp is an all day activity based program for kids.
Camp participants will go to the Aquatic Park, Westwood
Hills Nature Center, the library, enjoy pizza with bowling,
visit the splash pad, hike, do craft activities, enjoy summer
athletics, participate in backyard game activities and have
lunch at a drive-in. Activities will be supervised by summer
playground staff at a ratio of 6 to 1. Snacks and beverages
will be provided mid-morning and mid-afternoon.
Participants will need to bring a bag lunch on Tuesdays and
Thursdays (beverages provided). Lunch will be provided on
Monday, Wednesday and Friday. A schedule of the week will
be provided to all participants Monday morning.

Our aquatic park is the hottest place to stay cool this summer!
Wade into the pool from our zero depth entry or splash into
the water from the four-story water slides. Our summertime fun
facility features a sand-and-water play area, tot whale slide,
spray arches, water geysers, drop slides, lap swim lanes, diving
boards and sun decks. We also offer a picnic area, full service
concession stand and locker rooms.
Season Passes
A season pass is a great value! Passes offer unlimited entrance
to the Aquatic Park. You can buy your pass online by visiting
the city’s website at www.stlouispark.org and clicking on
“Program Registration”. Or, complete the application on
page 39 and mail, fax, or drop it off at The Rec Center.

Westwood Hills Nature Center
Westwood Hills Nature Center is a 160-acre natural area
featuring marsh, woods and restored prairie. The preserve
is beautiful throughout the seasons and provides homes
for many animals including deer, fox, mink and owls.
Westwood naturalists conduct year-round programs to
increase visitors’ understanding and appreciation of our
natural world. The nature center is located just south of
I-394 and east of Highway 169. Parking and admission
are free. Wood-chipped and hard-surface accessible trails
are open from dawn to dusk year-round.

Life Under a Log

Explore the mysterious world of life under a log. Search for
the strange creatures of this dark, damp and decayed habitat.
Centipedes, spider mites, and slime molds are just some of
the unusual creatures we might find. We’ll also meet a Tiger
Salamander and end the day with a “rotten” craft.
Come and celebrate International Migratory Bird Day!
Join a naturalist for a fun-filled afternoon all about birds.
Create multiple things to help migrating birds such
as pine cone feeders and windsocks. Enjoy a yummy
snack. Top off the day with a hike in search of birds
who are returning to the Nature Center for the summer.

Start the morning with coffee and treats while learning
about the “Power of Partnership.” The 2010 International
Migratory Bird Day is focusing on twenty species of birds
“that benefit from partnership and depend on our support
to help their populations in the years to come.” After a
short presentation we will head out on the trails to observe
birds and participate in IMBD’s Spring Bird Count.

Outdoor Skills Summer Camp
The following naturalist-led interactive drop-off programs
are designed for school-age children.

fire building, orienteering and fishing. End the week with

Bike Adventure Summer Camp

Meet at Westwood for a three-day biking adventure.
Day one, we’ll bike to Cedar Lake for some fishing and

Center for swimming at the Aquatic Park and fishing at
Wolfe Lake. Day three, we will head west to the beach at
Shady Oak Lake for swimming. Please bring your own bike,

donations from Hoigaard’s Inc.

Westwood School Group Hike Assistant
Calling all nature lovers! Assist the naturalists as they
conduct educational programs for elementary students.
Share the joy of nature with children and spend time at
our beautiful nature center. Training is provided. The time
commitment is about 2 ½ hours a week in the morning
or afternoon on the day of your choice plus occasional
training sessions for specific programs.
Westwood Maintenance
This is the perfect job for someone who enjoys fixing,
building and generally taking care of things. The job
duties will vary by season and may include construction
of educational materials and Halloween party props,
maintaining bird feeders, planting trees and flowers,
eliminating non-native species, watering, etc. The time
commitment is 2-3 hours a week; the day of the week and
time of day is flexible.
Monarch Butterfly Larva Monitor
The Westwood Hills Nature Center is looking for
volunteers who would like to help monitor our Monarch
Butterfly larva population as part of a nationwide survey.
Training and materials will be provided. Volunteers may
be individuals, families or groups. The time commitment
is 1 1/2 hours a week from May through September.

Experience VOLUNTEERING in the Park.
Adopt a Park and/or Garden
Volunteer to monitor your neighborhood park/garden. Parks and/or
gardens still in need of adoption include: Carpenter Park, Lilac Park,
Oak Hill Perennial Garden, Twin Lakes Park Garden, the Dakota
Park Flag Pole Garden, and Walker Park and Garden. In addition,
volunteers are needed at Wolfe Park (at Wolfe Park, volunteers are
assigned an area to maintain – they are not responsible for the entire
park) and Westwood Hills Nature Center along with several other
locations around the city. Adopt a Park/Garden volunteers can choose
to maintain the annual garden and/or patrol their park each week
during the summer, keep litter picked up and the park looking tidy,
and report any vandalism or needed repairs. Volunteers may adopt the
park/garden of their choice (providing it has not already been adopted).
Time commitment is about one hour per week during the summer.
Minnehaha Creek Clean-Up

Adopt-a-Street
Adopt a Street volunteers patrol their adopted street a minimum of
once a year and pick up trash. Adopt-a-Street volunteers have their
business or family name posted on the street. There are two areas
currently open for adoption: Monterey/36th, from Excelsior Boulevard
to Highway 100 and the South Service Drive of I-394, from
Park Place to Highway 100.
Serve on a City Commission
Become actively involved in your community, share ideas, and learn
about city government by volunteering as a representative on a city
commissions. Commissions include: Board of Zoning Appeals,
Community Education, Charter, Fire Civil Service, Human Rights,
Parks and Recreation Advisory, City Planning, Police Advisory, and
Telecommunications. The time commitment varies by commission and
ranges from four meetings a year to one meeting per month. For more

Student Volunteers Wanted for Kids’ Place
The Community Education Kids’ Place program is looking for
volunteers ages 14 and over to help in their infant, toddler, pre-school
and school-age programs this summer. Job duties will include, assisting
with class activities, working one-on-one with children, playing games,
reading and general help. All potential volunteers must complete an
application, provide references and attend training in early June. The
minimum time commitment is 8 hours a week between 8 a.m. and
5:30 p.m. Please call for an application before May 15. We will work
around vacations and summer activities.
Easy “One Time” Volunteer
opportunities this spring and summer!
Plant Flower Gardens in City Parks
Volunteers are needed in mid-May to help plant gardens around the
city. If you have 2-3 hours and enjoy working with flowers, this is a
great way to help beautify our city. Garden plots include Aquila Park,
Wolfe Park, Carpenter Park and many more. If you would like to
help, please call the volunteer office. The city gardener will work out a
planting schedule with you when the flowers arrive. (Planting may be
done during the day or in the evening in mid-May.)

Volunteer Opportunities
Spring into action and become a volunteer! Volunteering is a great way to learn new skills, meet
people, gain job or school credit or add variety to your routine. You can make St. Louis Park even a

Would you like to help clean our city before the busy summer season?
If you would, call the volunteer office and sign up to help Pick up the
Park. Business, civic groups, families and individuals can volunteer.
You will be assigned an area to clean and be provided with instructions
and a garbage bag. Park clean-up should take place between early April
and mid-May, on the day of your choice.
PARKTACULAR! Celebration
Volunteers are needed to help with a variety of activities for the
fabulous St. Louis Park Parktacular Celebration, June17-20. There
will be volunteer positions on Saturday, June 19 that are perfect
for individuals, civic groups, business, and/or families including
the parade, information booth, eco-fair, Saturday Night Party and
more. Get involved in this fun St. Louis Park celebration, come out
and see your friends and neighbors, become a Parktacular volunteer!
Time commitment is two or more hours at the event of your choice

interested in helping at this fun city event.
H.O.M.E. Chore Program to Help Local Seniors
Get involved in your neighborhood! The H.O.M.E. program
provides home chore services for seniors. They have clients in many
neighborhoods who can use your help; volunteering even one time
can make a difference! This volunteer opportunity is suitable for
individuals, couples, families, groups, and students over age 14.
Minimum time commitment is one hour. To volunteer or get

Aquatics Infants and youth
Swim lessons are offered for children 5 months old through
4 years old (with participating parent/adult). Shorty Beginner
classes are for children ages 3 to 6. Swim School is for children
ages 6 and up. Open family swim is 5:30 p.m.–6:30 p.m.
Tuesdays and Thursdays, and 11:30 a.m.–1 p.m. Saturdays. Swim
programs begin in April at Central Community Center, 6300

Preschool Dance Ages 3 – 5
Kid Dance classes for boys and girls teach a variety of dance
styles including basic ballet technique and creative dance
movement. Classes are held Monday and Thursday mornings.

Park Gymnastics Preschool – High School
Park Gymnastics is a recreational gymnastic program with
an emphasis on fun! Classes are offered for beginners through
advanced gymnasts and are held at Central Community
Center. Instruction is given on the balance beam, vault and

Kids’ Place School-Age Child Care

These programs help prepare your child for success in

An affordable, family-friendly preschool experience for your
child. Children attend two or three days per week. Classes
emphasize social skills, constructive play time and school

SLP ECFE Birth – age 5
SLP Early Childhood Family Education offers classes for children
and their parents or caregivers. Enjoy play and learning activities
together under the guidance of a licensed early childhood teacher.
For part of the class, parents participate in a discussion group led
by a licensed parent educator. Families typically attend one day
per week; daytime, evening and Saturday classes are available.
SLP PALS Pre-K Ages 2 1/2 - 5
SLP PALS Pre-K adds a preschool day to your ECFE class.
Children ages 2 1/2 - 4 years old may attend an additional
child-only day: 4 – 5 year olds can attend two additional days
per week. Morning and afternoon classes are available.
SLP PALS+ Pre-K Ages 3 - 5
SLP PALS+ Pre-K offers an opportunity to learn to appreciate
differences through a positive, nurturing, small-class environment.
Children with and without disabilities may enroll. Classes are
offered 3 or 4 days per week, morning and afternoon. Monthly
Family Fun Nights are a required part of this program.
SLP Family Learning Pre-K
Adults and preschool children
SLP Family Learning Pre-K supports parents learning English
or working on their GED. While adults are learning, children
are involved in preschool activities. Parents must enroll in
Adult Basic Education (English Language Learning or GED)

SLP First Steps Pre-K Ages 3 - 5
SLP First Steps Pre-K curriculum is coordinated with the
International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Program. IB
strives to help children develop an international perspective.
Classes are four days per week, morning or afternoon. An
optional full-day Friday is available.
SLP Kids’ Place Pre-K
Six weeks – age 6
SLP Kids’ Place Pre-K provides working families a highquality, preschool experience within a full-day child care
setting (6:30 a.m. - 6 p.m.) for children ages six weeks to six
years. Spots are available in a number of locations throughout
the St. Louis Park School District.

The St. Louis Park Schools School Readiness program
is designed for children ages 3 - 5 that have not had a
preschool experience. Families must meet income guidelines.

Encore Fine Arts Academy
Grades K - 12
This program is committed to quality, variety, consistency and
inclusiveness. Encore offers individual and group lessons in
voice, piano, brass, woodwinds, strings, percussion and dance.

Kung Fu-Wu Shu Ages 5 - 12
Learn the benefits of Kung Fu-Wu Shu, the Chinese art of fitness
and self-defense and build muscle, power, flexibility, and agility.
Join a fun, non-competitive, full-participation class, which
focuses on skill building exercises that will strengthen the mind
and body, promote leadership skills, discipline, concentration,
coordination, and balance. Parents may register and participate
with youth in youth class or join in an adult class. Class is held
Tuesdays at 6 p.m., April 13-May 25at Aquila Primary Center
Self Defense Karate
Grades 1 - 8
Kick it up with our Self Defense and Safety Awareness classes.
Respected instructor Norm Rolando will teach the basic karate
moves and self-defense combinations. Class promotes self
discipline, not aggressiveness, and reinforces awareness, safety,
self-control and responsibility. Classes are held Saturdays, 9
a.m.- Noon, April 10-June 5 at Central Community Center.

Summer Spark Grades K - 8
Each year hundreds of youth in St. Louis Park Public Schools
participate in a wide variety of enrichment opportunities
through our Summer Spark enrichment program. The 2010

This hour-long class designed for men and women of all ages

Terraced into the hill, the amphitheater connects the park to
the Excelsior & Grand Town Green. Its eight terraced tiers offer
seating for 200 people. The concrete stage at the bottom of the
hill is edged with trees and shrubs. When no public events are
scheduled, the amphitheater can be rented for weddings and other
events from 8 a.m. - dusk daily. The facility is available after dusk
until 10 p.m. with an additional fee for overhead lights. To view

The Banquet Room overlooks the Aquatic Park and Wolfe
Park. The room is available for wedding receptions, birthday
parties, bar and bat mitzvah parties, company events, family
reunions, and meetings. The room seats up to 160 people and
offers a caterer’s holding kitchen, dance floor, “dimmable”
lighting and sound system. AV equipment can be rented.

Gallery Room Rental

Thanks to reciprocal agreements, we share use of Brookview
Golf Course and Williston Fitness Center.

Williston Fitness Center
Rent The Rec Center’s indoor ice arena for birthday parties,
celebrations, and company or school events. We’ll provide the
gallery room for two hours without additional charge. The Banquet
Room can also be reserved for use at half the cost. Rental skates
are included with private ice rental. Due to limited supply, we
encourage users to bring their own skates.

Fitness Center at the Minnetonka resident rate.
Williston offers an indoor pool, indoor tennis,
indoor baseball/softball practice facilities, a party
room, basketball, volleyball and other gym activities.

Westwood Hills Nature Center Pavilion
8300 W. Franklin Ave.
This new pavilion, located near the playground, has an open
design that seats up to 25 people. Windows on three sides
of this fully accessible building offer beautiful views of the
Nature Center grounds and the state-of-the-art playground.
The building also features a restroom and a sink. It’s a great
place for meetings, parties and more!

Oak Hill Splash Pad
Our water playground at Oak Hill Park lets tots activate
bubbling hoses, water nozzles and sprinkler arches.
Just wave your hand over the sensor bollard and get
ready to splash in the sun! It’s the equivalent of running
through the sprinkler on a grand scale. This facility is
unsupervised, so parents should accompany children.
Rubber soled water shoes are strongly recommended for
all participants. Restrooms will be available in the Oak
Hill Park Pavilion June 7 – Aug. 27. Outdoor portable
toilets will be available before June 7 and after August 27.

Lamplighter Lakes
You don’t have to leave St. Louis Park to go fishing.
The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources
stocks Wolfe, Lamplighter and Westwood lakes with
a variety of fish. Fishing piers are at all three locations.
Fishing poles available (free) for use at Westwood Hills
Nature Center (Westwood Lake).

room complete with a gas fireplace, two rooms for breakout
activities, a full kitchen, and bathroom. Plus, a porch looks

Nature Center. Available year-round, except on holidays.

Our Tier 1 skateboard park features two platforms with fourfoot high ramps on each end of the paved skating surface as
well as grinding rails and box. Public restrooms, phones and
vending machines are located next to the Skate Park inside

Off-Leash Dog Park
St. Louis Park’s two off-leash dog parks offer a fun
opportunity for you and your pet to get out and enjoy the
great outdoors! Be sure to visit our newest dog park at
Cedar Knoll Park, 2541 Nevada Ave. S., as well as our original
dog park at Dakota Park, 2643 Dakota Ave. S. We have also
added a small dog area at Dakota Park for dogs’ 20 lbs. or less.
To use the parks, residents must have a current St. Louis Park
dog license, which includes access to the parks. Nonresidents
must purchase a permit for the parks, which is good January
through December of the current year. You can print a form
from the city website (www.stlouispark.org) or pick one up
at the Inspections counter at St. Louis Park City Hall,
5005 Minnetonka Blvd., between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.,
Monday through Friday. Daily hours for the dog parks are
7 a.m. – 8:30 p.m.; $50 per permit (non-resident)

SERVICES
Mulch - Wood Chips
Free shredded wood mulch and compost is available to
St. Louis Park residents. Mulch is stored near the intersection
of Cedar Lake Road and Colorado Avenue (south side of
Cedar Lake Road adjacent to the railroad tracks). The site
is open seven days a week. Before going to the site, you may
wish to call (952) 924-2565 to verify availability. The city also
offers mulch delivery within St. Louis Park. The cost is $60
for a half load (two to two-and-one-half yards) and $120 for a
full load (five yards). For more information, call Rick Beane,

Westwood Birthday Parties
Birthday parties include a one-hour naturalist-led program
and another hour for your use of a private party room.
Children will meet a live animal, hike outdoors, and then
celebrate the birthday in a private room in the Nature Center.
You bring the treats, paper ware and presents. Reservations
are being accepted for Saturdays and Sundays through
August. Call (952) 924-2544 for reservations.

Register Early!
Confirmation & Cancellations
To ensure your participation, register right away. All activities
have maximum enrollment limits. Activities also have
minimum enrollment requirements, and can be cancelled
if registration is insufficient. If the registration deadline has
passed, contact the Parks and Recreation office or Nature
Center to see if any openings remain. Registration will be
accepted at our offices until the first day of class; however,
instructors cannot accept registrations in class.
We do not send enrollment confirmations.
You will be contacted only if:
• the program is full
• the program is canceled or
• the date, time or location has changed.
Resident Benefits
Residents pay a lower fee for many activities. A resident is
someone who lives or works full-time in St. Louis Park.
Nonresidents who register as residents will forfeit their fee
and their place in the activity.
How to Register
1. Complete the registration form. Be sure to write down the activity number, activity name and fee for each
program you’re registering for. Missing information can delay your registration. Individuals with disabilities may request auxiliary aids for registration; call (952) 924-2540 or email [email protected].
2. Payment must accompany registration. We accept VISA, MasterCard, cash and checks. Make checks payable to “City of St. Louis Park.”
3. Mail, drop off or fax your registration form and payment. Or, register online at www.stlouispark.org.

Financial Assistance
Partial fee assistance for some activities is available to
qualifying St. Louis Park residents who submit a fee
assistance form. For more information, call Caroline Voss at

Refund Policy
Full refunds are given only when an activity is cancelled by
the Parks and Recreation Department. When registration is
withdrawn prior to the first day of the activity, a 20-percent
administrative fee will be assessed.
Partial credit will be considered if cancellation is due to
injury or serious illness.
