swim in La Fortuna waterfall or try whitewater rafting or mountain biking - the choice is endless.
Monteverde
04-05
Welcome to nature-lover’s paradise! Monteverde, or ‘Green Mountain’ is home to more than 2,000
species of plants, 320 bird species and 100 different species of mammals thanks to the amazing
Cloud Forest Biological Reserve. Here you’ll have two days to explore all the wildlife on offer whether
you join a bird watch, go horse riding or fly through the jungle canopy on a zipline.

to hike Cerro Negro or check out the city of León.

Caye Caulker, Belize
Copán / Antigua
15-19
Declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1980, Copán contains some of the most important
Mayan ruins found to date, and many unusual artistic features. Get your camera ready as you
walk through grassy plazas filled with intricately-carved and decorated monuments, statues and
staircases. After Copán, it’s off to Antigua on Day 17 where you’ll enjoy an orientation walk of this
colonial town which, despite its size, still manages to maintain a peaceful feel. Take a mountain bike
ride out into the countryside or explore the fascinating markets, shops and museums within the city.
Panajachel / Lake Atitlán
20-21
Travel to Lake Atitlán, which is one of the most beautiful spots in Guatemala. Twelve native villages,
blue-grey mountains and three volcanoes line the shores of this lake resulting in a wonderful
combination of unusual natural beauty and traditional culture. You’ll also get a chance to explore
Panajachel and tackling it by foot is the best way to see its old churches and backstreets - pay
attention to where you’re going though as there aren’t any street signs! Next, you’ll overnight to the
small town of San Juan la Laguna, home to 3,000 inhabitants, mostly Mayas. Tonight, the group will
be spread out among a number of homes, and you will sleep in a local family’s home, where dinner
will also be provided. (D)
Antigua
22
Copán, Honduras
Return to Antigua to spend more time exploring the city or shop for souvenirs. Antigua offers three
specialities that make shopping here very worthwhile - textiles, jade and silver. It’s time to give that
credit card a workout and stock up! You’ll also get a chance to practice some salsa moves on an
included group dancing lesson.
Río Dulce / Flores
23-25
Find yourself relaxing in Río Dulce, a small town on Lake Izabal and a port stop for boaters around
the globe, on their way to/from Livingston and the Caribbean coast. You can take a morning
monkey kayak tour, relax in the thermal springs or hike through the jungle-strewn trails in the
Chocón-Machacas Natural Reserve area. Your final stop in Guatemala is Flores, a picturesque town
surrounded by Lake Petén Itzá where many of the local inhabitants still get around by cayuco, or
dugout canoe. Flores remains one of the most scenic and charming towns in the Petén.
Tikal / San Ignacio
26-27
Heading north, it’s your chance to see the spectaular and impressive scale of the ruins at Tikal which
also boasts the Mayans’ highest pyramids. If you give yourself enough time, make sure you venture
into the surrounding jungle where you’ll discover a whole variety of flora and fauna. After Tikal, it’s
across the border and into Belize. Being based in San Ignacio, you’ll find plenty to do whether you
decide to explore by foot, canoe or horse. There’s also a chance to try some caving or take a swim in
the inviting pools and rivers of the Mountain Pine Ridge area.

island of Caye Caulker. Expect a sandy pathway as its main street, small bakeries, bars, seafood
stands and not much else, making it the perfect place to disconnect from the real world. Opt to go

Take the road less travelled on this expedition through Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua
and Costa Rica. It’s an incredibly exciting trip, filled with breathtaking scenery. Snorkel in

jungle melodies and spot an abundance of wildlife. Get your adrenalin pumping with rafting,
canopy ziplines, mountain biking and more. Add to all of this the ever-grumbling, intriguing
presence of many large, looming volcanoes and you’ve got yourself one incredible Central
American holiday experience.

The Mayan ruins of Copán are fascinating, beautiful and unique among Mayan cities. Copán contains
some of the most important Mayan ruins found to date, and many unusual artistic features. Walk
through grassy plazas filled with intricately-carved and decorated statues and staircases. Huge
carved faces will stare at you from ancient walls and bring the place to life, causing renewed wonder
at the mysterious disappearance of such a creative civilisation. If you just fancy chilling out, fear not,
as there will be a chance to take a dip in hot springs.
San José
After travelling through the hills of Honduras, you’ll arrive at the coast and ferry across to paradise.
A scuba diving haven amidst what is part of the second-largest barrier reef in the world, Roatán is
a Caribbean-style island made famous for its marine treasures. Crystal blue waters invite swimming,
diving, snorkelling, or to simply relax on the white sand beaches of the Bay Islands. On Day 7, catch
a flight to Tegucigalpa, then continue overland to politically-progressive León, Nicaragua.
Granada
08-09
Granada’s colonial charm is complemented by the active volcanoes and lakes that surround it –
creating great hiking options. Hike, cruise, or just explore the city’s markets and museums. Walking
is probably the easiest way to see all the sights of Granada and your Chief Experience Officer (CEO)
will give you an initial orientation walking tour of the city, leaving plenty of time to explore in more
depth. You’ll also get the chance to visit the active Masaya Volcano or kayak the isletas in Lake
Nicaragua (the largest lake in Central America).

From the town of San Jorge, you’ll cross Lake Nicaragua by ferry to arrive at Ometepe Island where
you’ll enjoy a two-night homestay experience. The setting is dramatic, with two towering volcanoes
dominating the island’s landscape. The wildlife on the island includes green parrots and several
species of monkeys, including the scary sounding howler monkey. If you enjoy a challenge, then hike
the Maderas Volcano. If you fancy something a little less active then check out the pre-Colombian
petroglyphs, try out the Tarzan swing at a nearby jungle swimming hole or enjoy the beach. (B, 2D)
Travelling into the cool cloud forest and rainforests of Monteverde gives you a glimpse of the lush
ecosystems of Costa Rica. Spend two days exploring Monteverde and the cloud forest reserve which
is truly a nature-lover’s paradise. There will be time to bird watch, ride a horse, mountain bike, cross
the jungle canopy on a series of suspension bridges or ride a zipline through the rainforest canopy at
high speed. (B)
La Fortuna / Arenal / San José
14-17
La Fortuna is an excellent base for adventure of all kinds. Take an unforgettable night hike around
the base of Arenal Volcano to see the top glow an eerie red. Try whitewater rafting, mountain
biking, caving, horse riding or tour the Caño Negro Wildlife Refuge. End the day with a soak in one
of the natural thermal baths and hope for the clouds to part long enough for a glimpse of Arenal’s
slopes shaped by multiple eruptions. On Day 16, transfer to Costa Rica’s capital where museums and
buzzing streets await. Depart at any time on Day 17.

pristine river and experience the remoteness of an old haçienda at night. There’s the option to take a
horseback ride tour or climb a viewing platform 30m above the jungle floor. (2B, L, 2D)

En route to La Fortuna enjoy a typical Costa Rican meal at a local family’s house. The town offers a
whole variety of activities. Perhaps take a night hike around the base of the Arenal Volcano to catch

optional whitewater rafting, waterfall rappelling or horse riding. After a day of action you can sit

Crossing into Panama, you’ll travel by bus and then boat to the archipelago of Bocas del Toro, its
name meaning ‘the bull’s mouth’. The archipelago of Bocas del Toro is made up of six islands and
contains a wide array of unique wildlife and fauna. The islands are mostly covered in rainforest and
have spectacular beaches perfect for sunbathing, swimming, snorkelling or diving, so you can be as
active as you like. Look out for red frogs at - where else? - Red Frog Beach.

Santa Catalina
The picturesque town of Puerto Viejo de Talamanca offers 14 km of incomparable white and black
sand beaches. Rent a bike and beach hop down the coast, or hike in Manzanillo National Wildlife
Refuge. Snorkel, boogie board or explore La Isla Botanical Gardens. Spend your nights dancing away
to reggae and calypso, taste delicious Afro-Caribbean cuisine and succumb to the natural beauty of
this tropical paradise.
07-08
Back on the mainland, you’ll continue to the impressive mountain retreat of Boquete. The town is
nestled in a green mountain valley, with a beautiful river running through it and is well-known for its
cool, fresh climate and unspoiled natural environment. A plethora of outdoor options await you here.
You can hike through the cloud forest, go whitewater rafting or horse riding. For coffee lovers, there
are many plantations that offer tours of their factories as well as aromatic taste tests.
Santa Catalina
09-11
Santa Catalina’s gorgeous beaches, lush forest and friendly people make it a great stop for travellers
wanting to enjoy some of Panama’s best natural beauty and flair. Head off on a boat trip, snorkelling,
diving or surfing. The word ‘panama’ is an indigenous word meaning an abundance of fish and Santa
Catalina emphasises the origins of this name – have a go at fishing, as large schools of tuna, wahoo
and other game fish can often be seen, as well as white tip reef sharks. Visit beautiful Coiba National
Park, part of the nation’s largest marine park which has been described as a cross between the
Galapagos and Cocos Islands.

After a short bus trip, you’ll arrive into the modern, bustling capital, Panama City. Explore Panama La
Vieja (Old Panama) with its great old buildings, as well as some interesting museums that document
the history of the region. Perhaps enjoy a dinner at the restaurant which overlooks the gigantic lock
systems which raise and lower the water levels, allowing ships to go from lake to lake (the canal is
made up of entirely fresh water), and eventually from ocean to ocean. According to statistics, more
than 12,000 ocean-goming vessels pass through it a year – that’s over 30 a day! You don’t need to
be a ship geek to be mesmerised by a freighter passing through the locks.

This group voluntour (a combination of touring and volunteering) is the perfect way to tick
off some Costa Rican hotspots, while doing your bit along the way. Unspoilt cloud forests,
Pacific Coast surf, rugged volcanic and beach landscapes make this Latin gem the number
one location. Give back to Mother Nature and spend five days volunteering at a remarkable
sea turtle conservation project which uses man-made nurseries called ‘viveros’ to protect
turtle eggs and nests. The programme assists endangered sea turtles and their hatchlings
on Matapalo Beach and all volunteers are vital to the project’s success. You’ll help with night
time beach patrols, reinforce the barriers of the hatcheries, moniter the baby turtle hatchery
and other area maintenance. After your good work is done, enjoy a week of touring paradise,
including a two-day guided sugar cane and coffee tour in the Misty Monteverde Cloud Forest
as well as an exhilarating zipline tour. Moving on to La Fortuna, enjoy winding nature trails,
swimming in waterfalls and relaxing in natural thermal baths before returning to San José.

This Pacific sea turtle project fights to improve the chance of survival for endangered sea
turtles and hatchlings on Matapalo Beach. Volunteering in this small town on this programme
ensures conservation efforts are ongoing, plus your help supports the community’s small
businesses, including surf instructors and horseback riding rentals, thereby contributing
to the local economy. You’ll discover how turtle conservation programmes across the world
work to protect these fascinating and endangered creatures. Night time is the exciting time
when a lot of work is needed - beach patrols to prevent egg poaching, collecting data on
turtles, and releasing them into the ocean. During the day everyone pitches in to keep the
beach free of dangerous litter, monitor nests to prevent eggs from being eaten and help
keep the volunteer dorm clean. In your free time, visit nearby Manual Antonio National
Park, enjoy warm Pacific beaches and incredible sunsets - right out in front of your shared
volunteer dorm.

From white beaches to the ruins at Chichén Itzá, one of the Seven Wonders of the World,
and the bustle of modern Mexico City, which preserves its magic from centuries gone by,
this adventure takes in both cultural and historical highlights. It’s a diverse region with an
incredible history but this trip will allow you to get under the skin of the Mayans, Aztecs
and Zapotecs, exploring their incredible ruins and discovering their fascinating cultures and
intriguing ways of life. See how these ancient civilisations have mixed with Spanish colonial
influences to create modern life in Mexico.

group this evening. On Day 2, explore the world’s largest metropolitan area and fastest-growing
urban centre. Check out the regal Palacio de Bellas Artes building or head into the silver markets to

04-06
The colourful, lively markets and the impressive Zapotec ruins of Monte Albán are just two of the
many reasons to visit wonderful Oaxaca, which you can explore with a guided orientation walk. You’ll
pick up a host of handicrafts and your taste buds will be on overdrive - from chocolate to cheese,
and from mezcal (it’s the worm at the bottom you have to feel sorry for!) and even dried grasshoppers
covered with chilli and lime. On Day 6, catch the night bus to San Cristóbal de las Casas.
San Cristóbal de las Casas
San Cristobal
de las Casas
07-08
Known for its ties to the Zapatista revolution, San Cristóbal is an architectural and cultural wonder
and is set in a high mountain valley at an elevation of 2,110m (6,921ft). Take the chance to visit
indigenous Mayan villages and experience day-to-day life where you will learn how locals combine
traditional beliefs and modern religion with intriguing results. You can also journey to beautiful
Sumidero Canyon for a relaxing boat ride.
Palenque
09-10
Hit the highway and travel to the state of Chiapas, home of Palenque, passing the waterfalls of
Misol-Ha and Agua Azul en route. One of the most beautiful Mayan sites in all of Mexico, Palenque is
set in the jungle and is rich with riotous wildlife and profuse flora. The Palenque ruins are incredibly
impressive, particularly the Temple of the Inscriptions, where a large sarcophagus containing the
mummified remains of Lord Pakal (the last of the city’s great rulers) was found in 1952.
Mérida
11-12
After an orientation walk in Mérida, you’ll be free to explore the colonial centre on foot or in a horsedrawn carriage, heading whichever way you choose from its leafy main square. Be sure to stroll down
the Paseo de Montejo, lined with shops and restaurants. Mérida is also the gateway to the Mayan
ruins of the Puuc Route, most famously at Uxmal which rivals Chichén Itzá in its scale. If you need to
refresh yourself, head for a swim at the nearby cenotes (underground pools) in the town of Cuzamá.
Chichén Itzá / Playa del Carmen

San Cristóbal
Start the day with an included guided tour of the beautifully-restored ruins of Chichén Itzá, a
UNESCO World Heritage Site and the most popular of all the Mayan archaelogical sites. Your final
stop is Playa del Carmen, were you can lounge on Mayan Riviera beaches. Just across the water

heritage whilst exploring churches, forts and cobblestone streets. Explore breathtaking
beaches in Trinidad, pay your respects to the legendary Che Guevara then party all night

experience the true Cuba. Don't just stroll down the road less travelled, salsa down it!
DAY ITINERARY
Havana
01
Rock up into Havana at any time to begin your Cuban adventure. This vivacious city trapped in the
colonial era has an electric energy like no other. Sip your Havana rum and puff on a Cuban cigar, you
have arrived! Stroll the Malecon, the walkway bordering the glittering Caribbean Sea, visit Old Havana
and the Catedral de San Cristóbal, admire a sleek Cadillac, browse the many open-air markets or kick
start your trip with a rave in one of the all-night parties - the options are endless. Welcome to Cuba!
Santiago de Cuba
02-03
Today you'll board your flight to Santiago de Cuba where you'll get to feel the inner beat of this city,
home to the traditional rhythms which gave birth to salsa music. Get your bearings on an orientation
walk and visit the Castillo del Morro; listen to live music at the Casa de la Trova or visit important
revolutionary sites such as the Moncada Barracks.

Upon arrival to this quaint town situated on a beautiful bay, amble around the colourful buildings
dating back to the Spanish colonial period on an orientation walk with your CEO. The rest of the day
is yours to spend how you wish and the best way to do so is by foot! Discover the various forts built
to withstand pirate raids, visit the Catedral de Nuestra Señora de la Asunción and immerse yourself
within the mountains and beautifully-secluded black sand beaches surrounding Baracoa. There are
also many optional hiking excursions near El Yunque to get stuck into!
07-08
Travel back to Santiago de Cuba for another night in the city's cultural hustle and bustle today. On
Day 8, continue across the Carretera Central to Camagüey, the third-largest city on the island. Much
of its colonial heritage is retained within its buildings, plazas and its tinajones (large clay pots used
in Spain and New World colonies for collecting rain water), so keep your camera to hand! Discover
its rich tradition of music and literature and take a city tour of the narrow winding streets and
fascinating monuments that this university city has to offer.
Trinidad
09-11
Continue to the quaint colonial town of Trinidad where an orientation walk upon arrival will help you
get to grips with your picturesque surroundings. Bob along to local salsa or son music which is never
out of earshot and spend your days lazing on the long stretches of unspoiled white sand, diving or
snorkelling. If blissing out becomes just too much, saddle up for a horseback ride or grab a bike for a
cycle ride. Whilst you're here, limber up during an included salsa lesson where you'll work up a good
appetite for a group dinner hosted by one of the homestay families. (D)
Santa Clara
12
Today you'll be off to Santa Clara. Founded in 1689 by Spaniards hoping to evade the pirate raids on
the coastal cities, it's a key city in the Revolution. Best known as the home of Ernesto Che Guevara
at the Plaza de la Revolución, the remains of Che himself and his comrades who fell in Bolivia, are
interred in the mausoleum at this site.
Havana
13-15
Fly back to ‘La Habana’. Discover the wealth of colonial architecture as you wander the streets on an
included orientation tour of Old Havana. Take a salsa or music lesson, rent a vintage car or take a
carriage ride through the old city. On Day 15, it’s time to say goodbye to Cuba, but hello to a world
of salsa back home. (2B)

There's way more to Cuba than the big all-inclusive resorts of the North Coast (we've often
wondered how are they 'inclusive' when they miss most of the best bits?). On this fantastic
sailing trip, you can get to know the real Cuba, spending five days exploring the islands of
the beautiful Canarreos Archipelago aboard an intimate catamaran with just seven twin or
double cabins. Check out massive flocks of flamingos and parrots, snorkel the crystal-clear
waters in search of colourful marine life, relax on almost-deserted beaches and dine on
some of the best, freshly-prepared seafood you'll ever taste.

the Malecon, and a stroll through the historic colonial streets of the old quarter, La Habana Vieja.

yourself in the music and dancing of this life-affirming city's pulsating Afro-Hispanic rhythms.

Depart after breakfast this morning to travel to the southern city of Cienfuegos. Perhaps treat
yourself to lunch at the marina club house, before getting to know your crew and yacht, your new
home for the next six nights. The cabins might be a little compact, but there's plenty of space in the
common areas and up on deck to chill with a refreshing beverage (drinking water is provided, and
beer, wine and soft drinks can be bought at very reasonable prices). After dinner on board, explore
Cienfuegos on foot, and allow your CEO to bring Cuba's rich history to life. (B, D)

Iguana, Cayo Largo
Set sail for the Canarreos Archipelago, whose 350 islands and islets are quieter and more rustic than
other popular destinations in Cuba. They're also amongst some of the most beautiful in the whole
of the Caribbean. Feel free to relax and take in the warm Caribbean sunshine, swim, snorkel and just
chill as the yacht charts a leisurely course around the islands. One of the key destinations will be
Cayo Largo with its mangrove forests and 25kms of pristine white sandy beaches; Cayo Rico with
its intensely turquoise waters, friendly beach bars and indivenous iguanas; and Cayo Rosario bestknown for its profusion of tropical fish and a biological reserve that houses a monkey sanctuary. You
can often lend a hand to the skipper if you'd like to learn a few tricks of the trade, otherwise you can
just kick back, relax and just enjoy the ride. Meals are prepared by the on-board cook and include
fresh seafood (you can even catch it yourself if you wish!), plus a mix of international and typically
Cuban dishes. (5B, 4L, 4D)

After breakfast, say goodbye to your crew and depart from Cienfuegos to return to Havana. Your trip
concludes with an early afternoon arrival.
