Ballarat’s Pop Up Ice Skating Rink
Get the kids out of the house during the school holidays and into some traditional winter activities at the pop up
ice skating rink in the CBD. Lace up the skates and take to real ice right in the heart of our city. Session times will
be for an hour duration and skaters are advised to arrive 15 – 20 minutes prior to session time commencing

‘Winter Wonderlights’ Christmas in July at Sovereign Hill
Now running for an entire month, Sovereign Hill’s ‘Winter Wonderlights’ Christmas in July program will be one of
Victoria’s largest regional events. During the day, visitors can take a stroll down Main Street as snow-flakes fall at
regular intervals over the Victorian style buildings, the smell of Christmas treats and spices fill the air, traditional
carols ring out across the buildings, and a sense of anticipation builds as children await St Nicolas’ visit. By night,
witness the Victorian buildings light up in spectacular style through the magic of grand scale projections.
When: 25 June to 24 July, open daily from 10am.

Knights of Fire at Kryal Castle
Winter is here! Instead of hibernating indoors, embrace the season and warm up with Knights of Fire - these
school holidays - at Kryal Castle, Ballarat.
You will be enthralled by the spectacular Joust of The Flame as Sir Hector meets the Dark Knight in a fiery clash
on the Castle’s Main Arena. Witness the Knights of Kryal test their skills and courage against the black knight from
lands unknown- an ancient tradition in the land of Kryal. Sir Hector - The Knight of the Flame - stands against this
dark foe in a battle of steel, magic and fire.
When: 25 June to 10 July

Ballarat Wildlife Park is the place to visit during Winterlude in Ballarat. Come and meet our beautiful Alpine
Dingoes Eskimo Snow and Luna Blue, roast marshmallows in our fire pits, join one of our staff for the damper
cooking session held daily at noon and warm up by the fire in our Bushman’s Hut.
Kids can also enjoy a colouring in corner whilst under the watchful eye of our super croc Crunch!

FIRMAMENT, FIRE AND FIREWORKS - Stunning Starry Winter Nights
It is verrrrrrry cold in winter, but if you put on all your warmest woollies and come out, you will enjoy the best
stunning evenings winter has to offer....the best in the whole year! Mars and Saturn are in the evening sky now,
next to the centre of our Milky Way galaxy. In the cosy Baker Hall, our new show Capturing the Cosmos produced
by CAASTRO and Scienceworks, narrated by Geoffrey Rush, outside an open fire and warm drinks to keep you
warm whilst viewing our spectacular winter night sky. The viewing is best in winter when there is a frost in the air,
the clarity of objects is quite stunning. The Emu, near the centre of our Milky Way galaxy, is a beautiful object to
observe.

regular intervals over the Victorian style buildings, the smell of Christmas treats and spices fill the air, traditional
carols ring out across the buildings, and a sense of anticipation builds as children await St Nicolas’ visit. By night,
witness the Victorian buildings light up in spectacular style through the magic of grand scale projections.

Based on the phenomenally successful children’s classic, There’s a Hippopotamus on Our Roof Eating Cake,

Now running for an entire month, Sovereign Hill’s ‘Winter Wonderlights’ Christmas in July program will be one of
Victoria’s largest regional events. During the day, visitors can take a stroll down Main Street as snow-flakes fall at
regular intervals over the Victorian style buildings, the smell of Christmas treats and spices fill the air, traditional
carols ring out across the buildings, and a sense of anticipation builds as children await St Nicolas’ visit. By night,
witness the Victorian buildings light up in spectacular style through the magic of grand scale projections.

Peter and The Carnival
Peter lives with his grandfather. Grandfather does not want Peter going out of their garden because there are
wolves around. One day Peter goes out the garden gate and sees a duck swimming in a nearby pond. The duck is
arguing with a little bird. Peter sees a cat approaching and warns the little bird who flies up into a tree.Hunters
then come out of the woods and fire at the wolf but Peter stops them. They all bring the wolf to the zoo and at
the end, the duck can be heard quacking in the wolf's stomach.

stunning evenings winter has to offer....the best in the whole year! Mars and Saturn are in the evening sky now,
next to the centre of our Milky Way galaxy. In the cosy Baker Hall, our new show Capturing the Cosmos produced
by CAASTRO and Scienceworks, narrated by Geoffrey Rush, outside an open fire and warm drinks to keep you
warm whilst viewing our spectacular winter night sky. The viewing is best in winter when there is a frost in the air,
the clarity of objects is quite stunning. The Emu, near the centre of our Milky Way galaxy, is a beautiful object to
observe.

‘Winter Wonderlights’ Christmas in July at Sovereign Hill
Now running for an entire month, Sovereign Hill’s ‘Winter Wonderlights’ Christmas in July program will be one of
Victoria’s largest regional events. During the day, visitors can take a stroll down Main Street as snow-flakes fall at
regular intervals over the Victorian style buildings, the smell of Christmas treats and spices fill the air, traditional
carols ring out across the buildings, and a sense of anticipation builds as children await St Nicolas’ visit. By night,
witness the Victorian buildings light up in spectacular style through the magic of grand scale projections.

The Beauty of Winter at Mount Mitchell
Rug up and explore the beautiful gardens of the Mount Mitchell Estate in winter time. The National Trust listed
stables will be converted to provide guests with numerous delicious winter food and beverage options. In the
coach house Devonshire teas will be served. A hot cup of tea with warm scones, jam and cream will delight
visitors. Delicious hot chocolate with marshmallows will satisfy the children while warm mulled wine will warm up
the grownups. Also within the stable complex, scrumptious bread rolls will be served with Mount Mitchell pumpkin
soup and Pyrenees wines will be complimented with tasty cheese platters. The fire place in the tack room and pot
belly in the stable hands room will be lit, whilst a fire pit will memorise and warm up our visitors.
