HONG KONG
ASIA'S WORLD CITY
Hong Kong is a city unlike any other. Its energy and diversity appeal to millions of
tourists every year from around the globe and for good reason.
It is not only a fast-paced commercial hub, but also boasts fascinating heritage and
stunning landscapes that present visitors with a variety of holiday experiences.
A modern, efficient and international centre with a distinct Chinese flavour, Hong Kong
is home to some of the best shopping, entertainment and sightseeing.
At the heart of Asia, the city's rich “east-meets-west” culture, the wide variety of nightlife and delicious cuisine make a trip to the “Pearl of the Orient” simply unforgettable.
GATEWAY TO CHINA & BEYOND

North America, Hong Kong is the perfect place to start a

HONG KONG - SIGHTSEEING & ATTRACTIONS
Hong Kong has it all. From the
top of Victoria Peak, you can look
down on a stunning skyline and a
harbour that’s out of this world.
There are also skyscrapers, steep
mountains and remote beaches,
as well as street markets, two
world-famous theme parks and
temples to explore.
See the best that Hong Kong
has to offer with Cathay Pacific
Holidays and Dragonair Holidays,
your guide to the city buzz and
beyond.
STANLEY MARKET
Once a sleepy fishing village,
Stanley now is home to a vibrant
souvenir and clothes market with
a row of al fresco restaurants
and bars that lines the sea front.
The market is famous for its silk
products and handicrafts.
MAN MO TEMPLE
Hong Kong Island's largest
temple is located on Hollywood
Road in SoHo. Fragrant incense
billows from its entrances as
people worship the gods Man
and Mo.
HARBOUR CRUISEBAUHINIA
Tour the harbour and eat out in
style on this magnificent cruise
ship. Climb on board for a
sunset cruise and enjoy dinner
with the best views in town.
VICTORIA PEAK
Take the steep mountainside tram up to Hong Kong's highest
viewing point and witness one of the world’s most spectacular
views. The panoramic scene over the territory is simply breathtaking.
There are also some great restaurants to try and tourist attractions
to visit. In the Peak Tower is a viewing gallery along with a wide
range of attractions that provide amusement for the whole family.
TAI MO SHAN
Hong Kong’s tallest mountain in the west part of the territory is
Tai Mo Shan. Near the border with the mainland city Shenzhen,
the steep terrain is a lush green and exceptionally tranquil.
Here, Hong Kong's past is also evident. Several ancient villages,
such as at Luk Keng and Fan Tin, as well as the walled encampment
at Lo Wai with the Tang Chung Ling ancestral hall nearby, are well
worth a visit.
A SYMPHONY OF
LIGHTS
This nightly show is the largest
of its kind. The city's harbourfront skyscrapers come
alive with lasers and other
impressive lighting effects.
JADE MARKET
This covered market in Yau Ma
Tei offers some great jewellery
- not only jade as the name
would imply - at very tempting
prices.
HONG KONG • SIGHTSEEING & ATTRACTIONS
05
This stately home is an opulent
1850s residence built by a
scholar who was given the title
of mandarin by a Qing emperor.
HORSE RACING
Betting on the horses really gets the city's pulse pumping.
During the racing season (September to June), thousands flock
trackside but punters can also splash out on a lavish box with a
buffet meal. Even if you are not a gambler, a visit to Happy Valley or
Shatin racecourse is a chance to savour a truly electric atmosphere.
AVENUE OF STARS
A promenade dedicated to
Hong Kong's notable actors
and celebrities such as
Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan.
TEMPLE STREET
As night falls, scores of small roadside stalls open up for business.
Stretching from Jordan to Yau Ma Tei, Temple Street night market
sells an astonishing array of garments, jewellery and trendy and
intriguingly affordable appliances. By Tin Hau Temple, there are
often amateur Chinese opera performances and an array of fortune
tellers.
LAN KWAI FONG
This collection of streets and lanes in Central is the headquarters
of Hong Kong's entertainment and nightlife. The area’s courtyard
design means that revellers can circle the block, people-watch and
bar-hop until they decide on the perfect venue for drinks or dinner.
The area has expanded to include the Wyndham Street area,
with nearby SoHo offering other after-hours alternatives.
ABERDEEN
FISHING VILLAGE
A ride on a small sampan boat
around Aberdeen harbour in
the south of Hong Kong Island
gives a close-up chance to
see how the city’s traditional
fishermen still live.
JUMBO FLOATING
RESTAURANT
Moored in Aberdeen harbour,
Jumbo is an enormous floating
barge that offers tourists
and locals delicious Chinese
cuisine. A western restaurant is
also perched on top.

DISNEYLAND
OCEAN PARK
Asia’s second Disney park opened in Penny’s Bay on Lantau in
2005. After Florida and California, the idea of Mickey Mouse wearing
a raincoat in Hong Kong’s summer rain put a smile on the faces of
many families all around China. Further expansion plans will see
more rides complement the existing attractions within Main Street
U.S.A., Fantasyland, Adventureland and Tomorrowland.
MADAME TUSSAUDS
On The Peak, visit this house
of wax and get a photo taken
with the most famous Chinese
and international celebrities.
SCREAM, a horror-themed
attraction, will keep you on your
toes.
TAI O
FISHING VILLAGE
This quaint and charming village
is miles away from the hubbub
of the city. Located on the
north-western shores of Lantau
Island, many of the houses and
shops are built on stilts.
Visitors access the park via a cable car that snakes along the hills
of Hong Kong’s southern coastline. Rollercoasters and rides will get
pulses racing, but the animals are the star attraction. There are the
giant pandas, beautiful jellyfish and other marine displays.
And in addition to the black-and-white version, the park also has
raccoon-like red pandas from Chengdu and the endangered
Chinese Giant Salamander.
NGONG PING 360° CABLE CAR
Start your 5.7-kilometre journey in Tung Chung and check out
some of Lantau Island's most impressive sights from the air.
After crossing a bay, the cable car heads up the steep mountainside
towards Ngong Ping village, Po Lin Monastery and the famous
Big Buddha.
1881 HERITAGE
GIANT BUDDHA STATUE
The world's tallest, outdoor, seated bronze Buddha is perched
serenely on top of one of Lantau's most beautiful peaks.
Visitors can climb up to the giant 34-metre-high structure and
also visit the adjacent monastery, greet the monks in residence
and stroll down Wisdom Path.
This landmark has been
converted from a Marine Police
headquarters into a huge
shopping and entertainment
space. The 120-year-old
development now boasts a
hotel, restaurants and bars.
DRAGON'S BACK HIKE
Experience the serene and
beautiful countryside on
Hong Kong Island's eastern
side. Walk along the crest
of the Dragon’s Back trail
with panoramic views of the
coastline and distant islands.
