Saints Pavilion Celebrates Milestone
O
n Monday, June 29th, St. Anthony celebrated
the “topping off” of the Saints Pavilion project. In
celebration of the frame of the building reaching
maximum height, hundreds of employees, physicians,
volunteers and community members signed the final
beam to commemorate this milestone in the construction
of the building.
The beam, adorned with signatures, the American flag
and an evergreen tree, was lifted by crane as Andy
Williams, project engineer with Turner Construction,
shared the significance of the day as one that
represents the tremendous amount of work and service
by so many individuals.
“The tree represents life and vitality, symbolizing the
“bringing of life” to the building, and the American flag
stands for patriotism. These symbols represent pride and
tradition, and an important moment in the building of this
healthcare facility, and the history of St. Anthony Hospital.”
Upon completion in May 2016, the Pavilion will house a new
emergency department, intensive care unit and acute care
unit. We look forward to the completion of the project and
the expansion of our services to care for our community.

Wins Reader’s
Choice Award
for Third Year
Three years in a row, patients have
voted. Three years in a row, Dr. Hirsch
has received the Reader’s Choice Award
for Best Family Physician. With more
than 30 years of experience at
St. Anthony, he is beloved by his patients
and colleagues.
“I want to treat people the way I want
to be treated,” Dr. Hirsch said. He takes
time to get to know his patients and
fully understand their needs. After
each patient visit, he takes them to his
office to provide a summary of care and
answer any additional questions they
might have. He says the extra time he
takes with patients at the end of each
visit is his golden time.
“So much of medicine has now become
a science and a business. It’s one thing
to say, this is what the problem is.
Then, the nurse comes in and gives
you two prescriptions. That’s not care,”
Dr. Hirsch said. “Care is listening and
understanding what is going on in
patients’ lives.”
What sets Dr. Hirsch apart is that he
doesn’t just hear, he listens. He doesn’t
just look, he sees. He calls this the art of
medicine. We call him a perfect example
of St. Anthony’s mission of providing
compassionate exceptional care.

Newly Renovated
St. Anthony Hospital
Chapel Receives Blessing
O
n May 6, a special mass and blessing celebrated the newly renovated
St. Anthony Hospital Chapel. Tom and Judy Love made a generous
donation to St. Anthony Foundation to renovate the 40-year-old chapel
in honor of Archbishop Emeritus Eusebius J. Beltran. The renovation included
many updates, including the addition of a stained glass window, almost a
century old, of Saint Anthony. The beautiful stained glass window was added
to the chapel entry visible from the hospital lobby.
Built in 1973, with more than 27,000 visitors a year, the chapel has brought
hope and comfort to many over the years. “The chapel is a place of refuge and
worship for patients, family members, staff and physicians,” said Karen Green,
director of pastoral services. “The very spirit of the chapel brings consolation
and strength to people of all faiths,” she added.
“We are truly appreciative of the generous donation
made by the Love family. With their kind gift we were
able to enhance the St. Anthony chapel resulting in
a lovely place of worship, where our patients, guests,
and staff can find peace and comfort.”

Center for Behavioral
Medicine Renovations
Celebrated
O
n April 23, staff and physicians marked the completion of the
renovation of the St. Anthony Center for Behavioral Medicine with a
blessing and reception.
The $11 million project took five years to complete and renovated nine patient
care areas, the lobby and admissions area, classrooms, patient rooms and
therapeutic activity rooms. The behavioral medicine staff and physicians
worked diligently throughout the renovations to ensure no interruption in
patient care.
St. Anthony Foundation provided more than $1.1 million dollars to buy new
furnishings that provided patients a more home-like environment. We are
grateful to the individuals, corporations, physicians, employees and private
foundations who donated to this project.
St. Anthony’s Center for Behavioral Medicine is the largest provider of
behavioral medicine services in the state.

oasting St. Anthony was never more glamourous than at POP!
Champagne & Sparkling Wine Tasting on June 12 at Mercedes-Benz
of Oklahoma City. The event featured sips and samples of the best
Champagnes, sparkling wines and spirits. While Avenue entertained, more
than 270 guests enjoyed mingling, wining and dining on delicious fare from
A Good Egg Dining Group. Many thanks to all who attended, and to our event
sponsors including Bank of Oklahoma – The Private Bank, Crowe & Dunlevy,
Byron’s Liquor Warehouse and 110 events. More than $23,000 was raised that
evening and will be used toward the exceptional healthcare offered to our
patients every day at St. Anthony. Cheers to that!
