2013
Welcome to the 41st Annual Fiesta del Sol!
Though it started out as a small, one-block festival, we are extremely proud to say that Fiesta del Sol is now a mile long, has
become the largest Latino festival in the Midwest, and is the largest alcohol and tobacco-free event in the country. Fiesta del
Sol consistently records over one million attendees in the course of its four days. In 2012, Fiesta del Sol recorded over 1.36
million visitors - beating the previous year’s record!
Fiesta del Sol is Pilsen Neighbors Community Council’s (PNCC) primary fundraiser to underwrite its community organizing
and programming throughout the year. Your support is essential in making a difference in people’s lives.
Last July, we celebrated Fiesta del Sol’s 40th Anniversary and we are happy to say that we met all of our goals and have set
the stage for the next forty years.
We invite you to be part of this fun, unique marketing opportunity. With the help of our generous sponsors we can provide
visitors great entertainment, educational resources, arts, scholarships, and more. As you review the Sponsor Packet, feel free
to give us a call if any questions arise. We are also open to ideas you may have. You’ll find our contact information in the back
page. We look forward to hearing from you.

Who We Are
Why Fiesta del Sol for Your Company?
Pilsen Neighbors Community Council (PNCC) is a non-profit, community-based organization in the
Southwest side of Chicago (1954) whose mission is to establish policies and practices based on the needs of
the community. PNCC invests in the development of new community leaders through leadership training—
to bring about civic engagement and action. Through its efforts, PNCC has been instrumental in creating
new institutions and bringing capital improvements to the neighborhood.
Fiesta del Sol provides a direct marketing opportunity, as it attracts over one million visitors each year. Fiesta del Sol’s
increasing diversity and popularity make it the ideal vehicle for exposing or reinforcing your brand.
Our service programming includes: scholarships for Latino youth, a year-round ACT prep program, an
Immigration Legal Clinic, a Public Safety Task Force, a Civil Rights of Immigrants Task Force, and internships.
Our community organizing work and policy issues are economic development, education funding, universal
healthcare, immigration reform, older adult economic and social well-being and workforce development.
At Fiesta del Sol, you will be able to connect with the Spanish-speaking bilingual, bicultural and multigenerational Mexican
American community that attends Fiesta del Sol. When you become a sponsor at Fiesta del Sol, you have the opportunity to
target thousands of customers. Fiesta del Sol presents a healthy, and unique opportunity to take part in, while also supporting
a thriving community in the process.
The Fiesta del Sol committee will work closely with you to ensure that your marketing plan achieves the goals of your
company. Your sponsorship will include a marketing package that uses print advertising, social media, and community
outreach to maximize your marketing goals.
History of Fiesta del Sol
Through PNCC’s community organizing efforts a new high school was built in Pilsen named Benito Juarez
Community Academy. In celebration of the organization’s victory in 1978, a block party was organized
and named Fiesta del Sol! Today, Fiesta del Sol continues to reflect the organization’s desire for social
transformation.

Art and Culture Pavilion Sponsor: $8,000
Children’s Area Sponsor: $8,000
At the Art and Culture Pavilion, we invite international and local artists (of all mediums) to showcase their love for art. The Art
and Culture Pavilion brings art workshops, and activities to engage the community. You will find art and culture throughout
the festival grounds, such as with ceremonial Aztec Dance performances, and arts and crafts.
The Children’s Area at Fiesta del Sol is a place to provide a fun, educational experience for children in a caring, and stimulating
environment. We strive to promote education through read-a-loud sessions, games and activities that involve and promote
teamwork, sharing, exercise, and creativity. Our goal is to instill in children a desire to be life-long learners.
Today, more than ever, the arts are needed for self-expression, communication, exploration, imagination, cultural and
historical understanding. Poets, artists, playwrights, and composers are often sources of truth, order, harmony, and meaning.
In addition, the Children’s Area organizes a book drive each year to promote literacy by providing free books at the festival. In
2012, the Children’s Area raised and donated over 5,000 books to the community at Fiesta del Sol.

Commemorative Poster Sponsor: $8,000
Copa Fiesta del Sol Sponsor: $15,000
(Limit: 3 Sponsors)
The Fiesta del Sol Commemorative Poster is a 2’x4’ painting created by
world-renowned artist, Alejandro Romero. The Commemorative Poster
is always a vibrant, colorful depiction of celebration, community, and
Latino culture that is collected by thousands.
Though Romero’s art is rooted in Chicago and in his Mexican
homeland, Romero has attracted international attention in the
art world. In 1985 alone, his works were exhibited in-group shows
in Canada, England, Japan, and the former Yugoslavia as well as in
California. His work has been the subject of individual exhibitions in
England and Italy, among other places. In 1996 Romero’s work was
included in a historical retrospective of art made by Chicagoans at
the city’s Museum of Contemporary Art, helping to bridge the gap
between the world of experimental contemporary art and the cultures
of ethnic communities. Romero currently resides in Chicago’s Pilsen
neighborhood.
In 2012, over 600 children from over 36 teams across the city participated in a weeklong soccer tournament from three
different co-ed age group divisions. The soccer tournaments take place at Chitown Futbol an indoor soccer facility near the
festival grounds. The tournaments are announced citywide – ensuring to provide your company with the desired audience.

The Señorita Fiesta del Sol Pageant amplifies the beauty of contestants, but more importantly—contestants are leaders that
represent different communities. The winner is active with PNCC throughout the year, and she encourages other young
