Dear Director,
We would like to take this opportunity to invite you to the 1st annual Highland Day of Percussion at
Highland High School on Saturday, September 28th, 2013. As you are making plans for your 2013
marching season, we invite you to include our event as part of your fall schedule.
Highland Day of Percussion will provide the opportunity for your drumline to grow and develop with the
help of world class clinician Ralph Hardimon. The format for this show is unique. Drumlines will have a 45
minute block with Mr. Hardimon to receive live feedback on any music or warm ups of your choice. In
addition, 15 minutes will be dedicated for Mr. Hardimon to discuss with your staff everything from show
design to warm up choices, etc. We feel this would be a great opportunity for your drumline students to
grow and help your staff move toward improving your marching show.
Enclosed you will find the Highland Day of Percussion Registration Form and Flyer. The application
deadline for entry and payment is Monday, September 16th, 2013.
We will only be taking eight groups for this event.
Please do not hesitate to call Wardell King - 480.570.8844 - [email protected] or Kevin Bennett 480.813.0051 ext. 2729 - [email protected] for more information. Since we are only taking 8
groups this year, please let us know ASAP so we can get you on the list. Good luck with your 2013
marching season and we look forward to seeing you on September 28th.
Sincerely,
Kevin Bennett & Wardell King

Ralph Hardimon is a percussionist, teacher, composer, and clinician. He is best known for his work in the areas of
marching percussion, rudimental drumming, drum & bugle corps, and marching band.
Hardimon's performance experience started in the late sixties with the Los Angeles Police Band, and later the Velvet
Knights and Anaheim Kingsmen drum & bugle corps. He taught and studied with Fred Sanford and studied with
Charles Dowd at the University of Oregon. Following Fred Sanford's departure after the 1980 season, Hardimon
became Director of Percussion for the Santa Clara Vanguard in 1981 and kept that position through 1990, during
which time SCV won four High Percussion awards (1978,1979,1988,1989) and three DCI World Championships.
Ralph has written and arranged music for many other corps as well as college percussion ensembles and marching
bands. Hardimon was inducted into the DCI hall of fame in 2000.
