President’s Perspective
With an event nearly every
weekend during the summer, Indian
Lake is bubbling over with
activity. Restaurants and stores are
packed with customers and the lake
is swarming with fishing boats vying
for the biggest catch, graceful
sailing regattas and motor boats
pulling water skiers, wake boarders
and tubers. I love the energy the summertime brings!
I’ve recently had the opportunity to experience
first-hand the effort that goes in to a major chamber
event, specifically Party at the Beach. It was truly a
magnificent production; the clever decision-making of
the committee, the partnership with the wonderful staff
at the Indian Lake State Park and an incredible team
of volunteers who worked day and night to make sure
the event went off without a hitch. My hat is off to all
140 of you (yes, it took that many volunteers) who
made it look so easy! I am so proud to be part of a
chamber that so selflessly gives back to its community.
It goes without saying that it takes a great deal of
help from a lot of individuals to pull off any event. It is
often the supporters working behind the scenes who
are the secret to an event’s success, but are rarely
recognized. These volunteers are the backbone of our
organization and I would like to extend an huge
“Thank You” to everyone who has contributed to any
chamber or community function. We wouldn't be here
without your time, energy, expertise and hard
work. Your involvement is vital in the success and
future of our community and the Indian Lake Area
Chamber of Commerce. If you are interested in
becoming a chamber ambassador or volunteer, please
call the chamber office: 937-843-5392.

The summer is flying by and two of our biggest chamber
events in July were deemed huge hits. The Beach Spectacular
and Fireworks was a fantastic time for everyone. The day
started off overcast with a light drizzle which caused
attendance at the car show to be down slightly, but during
the pageants, we had a light breeze and cooler temperature
which made the late morning afternoon festivities very
enjoyable. Adorable children wearing some creative outfits
participated, which was a lot of fun for the crowd and judges
alike. This year’s pageant winners were:

The tent was packed to witness the finalist for the Indian
Lake's Got Talent competition. The eighteen contestants
showed off their talent on stage to vie for the ultimate winner.
Adult Division
1st place: Kyle Bullock representing Froggy's
2nd place: Nancy Brentinger, representing The Landing
3rd place: Mark Taylor, representing the Eagles 3615
Youth Division
1st place: Abi Woods, representing the Lakeview Business Group
2nd place: Lindsey Jade Neely, representing Brothers Bar
3rd place: Danielle Billings, representing Captains Point
All competitors did an incredible job. Congratulations to the
winners! WPKO took over the stage at 6 p.m. to entertain
until the fireworks began at 10 p.m. The fireworks show lit up
the sky with fun formations and plenty of color to reflect
across the water. It appeared that more folks than ever came
out to enjoy the presentation by boat, on the beach or in the
grass in backyards and along the state park. Our goal for
the fireworks donations in 2011 was $27,000, and at this
point only $17,000 has been received. Donations are still
being accepted at the chamber office to contribute to the cost
of the display.

It was a great day and we look forward to another fabulous

Party at the Beach Rocked the Lake
The second big event on Saturday, July 9th was the
Party at the Beach "Indian Lake Tour 2011". This
highly anticipated concert was our biggest yet with
over 2,200 people attending to watch The Cowsills,
The Indoorfins and The Menus perform. It was a
beautiful day beginning with a cool morning, but the
sun heated the day quickly.
The Cowsills captivated the crowd by singing “Indian
Lake” at the opening of their show. This had always
just been a song with a fictitious subject to them. They
were so excited to be here as they had never before
performed at an area called Indian Lake, and it was
like a fairy tale come true for them. Now, they have
performed the song right here at our very own Indian
Lake, Ohio and we are positive they will have our
lake in mind during any future performances!
The Indoorfins got the locals on their feet and
dancing to popular tunes, old and new. They have
quite a presence since they have played at many hot
spots around the lake over the past few years.
The Menus were the final band to perform and did
not disappoint with their explosion of energy! The
band and crowd alike had so much fun with the
multiple costumes donned by Tim, the lead singer;
signature songs with audience participation; and an
overall performance that will not be forgotten. They
even convinced head state park ranger, Frank
Giannolla, to dance onstage as a birthday surprise.
We would like to give a special “Thank You” to
everyone who helped in any way with the Party at the
Beach. It took over 140 volunteers and many hours of
work from the committee to pull off this event so
well. We appreciate chamber members Curt
Peterson, Dale Frymeyer, and Rosie O'Boyle picking
up The Cowsills at the Columbus Airport on Friday in
vans donated by Indian Lake Motors. Upon arrival at
the lake, the group was given top-notch
accommodations, thanks to the generosity of Teri and
Dale Frymeyer who gave up their home for the
weekend.
Following a news conference at Old Field Beach at 7
p.m. Friday evening, The Cowsills enjoyed an early
night with pizza from Cassano’s. They were also
provided gift certificates from Lucky's, The Landing,
and The Eagles to use during their stay. We would
also like to acknowledge John Bodin and Ron
Armstrong who arose bright and early on Sunday
morning to take The Cowsills back to the airport.
The major sponsors that made the event possible
include: Dayton Power & Light, Budweiser, Time
Warner Cable, Lee's Chicken, R V Wholesalers and
The Indian Head BBQ.
The event was a great success and we are looking
forward to the next one. In fact, planning has already
begun for the 2012 Party at the Beach. Look for
major date changes in the event schedule for next
year as we will try not to overwhelm the state park
employees with our two major events back-to-back
again!
Movie on the Beach
The Saturday night Movie on the Beach has been brought back by
popular demand and will be shown on Saturday, July 30, 2011 at
dusk. We are looking for sponsors for this event...fun for families! A
sponsorship of $100.00 includes the commercial before the movie, plus
name acknowledgement and name on a sign in front of the screen. The
movie costs the chamber approximately $1500. We would love to
continue bringing this event to the families of Indian Lake. Mark your
calendar now for July 30 and come to the beach to see Yogi Bear, the
featured film.
