Guixé Design Concepts and Ideas for Commercial Purposes S.L Martí Guixé “People kick themselves for not having tried...”(Cantona) Martí Guixé comes from the background of every good designer, with an academic curriculum to his credit and work done with famous firms. But as revolutionaries today are born within the institutions that trained them, he revolutionizes design by working on living matter, that can be transformed and decomposed, hybridizing such areas as anthropology, humour, gastronomy, typography, the human sciences, exact sciences, performance, design. He analyses situations, behaviour and gestures and proposes radically effective solutions with minimal ergonomics, liberated from the image of an idealized body where technocratic perspective tried to create the right form. As a visionary he transforms things with his eyes that observe them and invents the indispensable commodities of the twenty-first century. Martí Guixé’s world is made of compact, effective objects going from the eye to the hand to the mouth; reassuring and metaphysical, to dream with a world with eyes gazing into the sky or to placate anguish, suitable for the thirsty and the hedonist, for TV football fans or for imitators of Calvino’s rampant baron; and also when they are designed for the fishes that link us to the origins, when fishes talked and fulfilled men’s desires. Guixé has listened to the fishes, he is like Cantona, the football star turned actor who does a TV spot against racism: both know how to act in that terrible cross that starts diagonally and goes beyond the limits of the field. Brigitte Rambaud and Medamothi-Artistic Cockpit Published on DOMUS Magazine 799 (December 1997) Martí Guixé (Barcelona 1964) Formed in Barcelona and Milan as an interior and industrial designer. In 1994, living in Berlin, he formulated a new way to understand the culture of products. Guixe started to exhibit his work in 1997, work that characterizes on the search for new product systems, the introduction of design in food ambits and presentation through performance. His nonconventional gaze provides brilliant and simple ideas of a curious seriousness. He is based in Barcelona and Berlin and work as a Designer for worldwide companies. We are NOT a Communication Company doing design objects, we are a Design Company incorporating communication value in the designed object itself. MARTÍ GUIXÉ Martí Guixé (Barcelona, 1964) works as designer. His multifaceted activity revolves around his tagline: “concepts and ideas for commercial purposes”. This generic definition allows him to work in several areas, from commercial interiors and showrooms till communication campaigns, events and publications, through a very special conception of product design and culture. But his personal development has brought him to design research and food, as well. As a generalist designer, his potential is based on granting the brands of visibility in a global context, and doing so by designing spaces and products that communicate the personality of the brand. Background Formed in Barcelona and Milan as an interior and industrial designer, Guixé started his own studio in 1997. In 2006 he founded a company devoted to the development of commercial concepts, based in Barcelona and Berlin. He is co-founder of the label Ex-Designer. And Tapaist since 2011 he is also co-founder of GMbH together with Finish chef Antto Melasniemi, a company that designs services and hospitality. Expertise work Martí Guixé has worked as a design advisor and brand strategy consultant for the Korea Institute of Design Promotion (Seoul), Desigual (Barcelona . He has been member of the jury of several international design and marketing prices. Awards In 1999 he received the Ciutat de Barcelona Design Price, and he was awarded with the National Design Price in 2007 (Premis Nacionals de Cultura, Generalitat de Catalunya).
