PLATTEVILLE REGIONAL CHAMBER
Hello Members!
Dear Chamber Members,
Welcome to spring! The weather has been very cooperative and Katie’s
Garden is thriving! The daffodils, tulips and other spring
perennials are up and stunning! There are many activities – weddings/
photo sessions/parties – planned for Katie’s Garden this year. We
encourage everyone to visit the Garden! We only ask that if you are
planning to take photos, to please give us a call to make sure that an
event isn’t planned at the same time. This is especially true if you know
of someone having wedding photos, graduation or senior photos taken.
We are hosting an open house/reception on Tuesday, May 3rd from
11:30-1:00PM with a program at noon to celebrate National Tourism
Week. We will be joined by Patrick Reinsma, Regional Tourism
Specialist with the Wisconsin Department of Tourism, who will be touting
the 2015 economic impact of tourism – Wisconsin’s 3rd largest
industry – on the State of Wisconsin and Grant County. A light lunch will
be available. Please plan to join us!

Our 2nd Annual Derby Day is Saturday, May 7th beginning at noon. We
are partnering with Nick Pease of ‘Nick’s and it promises to be a great
event! This will take place in the parking lots south of the Police Station
between Second and 4th Street. The Chamber is hosting a food booth
from noon-5PM. An all-horse parade will take place at 3:30PM and cash
prizes will be awarded for “Derby Day Best Dressed” contest at 4:30PM.
Cash prizes will be awarded! A full-line of live entertainment is scheduled. So come out and enjoy the beautiful weekend and support this
great outdoor event.
Dan Dreessens, Vice President

Congratulations to all of the 2016 UW-Platteville graduates who will be
graduating on May 6th & 7th!
Kathy Kopp, Secretary and
Executive Director
I would also like to remind everyone, if you haven’t already, to sign up for
the Police Department’s “Nixle” service. “Nixle is a free notification
service for government agencies to securely communicate with citizens
via e-mail, SMS/text messages, and Internet posts. Nixle messages from
the Platteville Police Department may include, but are not limited to,
important information on car accidents, traffic diversions, fires, hazardous
situations, severe weather, road closures, important construction
information and other news or events officials feel is both proximate and
personally relevant to the community.” It’s easy to sign up. Just contact
the Police Department or sign up online at the Police Department’s page
on the City’s website – www.platteville.org.
Our offices are now open seven days a week until the end of October.
The Chamber staff is hard at work getting ready for all the events,
festivals, workshops and celebrations that we have planned in the next
few months. Please let us know if your business or organization is having
a special event – we will be happy to promote them! Also, we can always
use some volunteers, so if you have a few hours or know of someone
who may be interested, please let me know!
