About 10 years ago I was asked to teach speedwriting but only had shorthand. As the organisation couldn’t find anyone else, they asked me if I could study a system and so teach it. When I researched the various existing systems I found that, although the basics were good, the advanced aspects were quite complex and not easy to read back. I wondered why nobody had created a system based on shorthand techniques and so tried to find one. Nobody had and so I created BakerWrite, tested it and found it to be very popular. I then had my book published and shortly afterwards the system was taken up by Pitman Training. How do you yourself use Speedwriting and who else can benefit from the method? I use it when I’m on the phone, in meetings and for my “to do” lists. Anyone who has to take notes, make lists, do interviews, write articles, etc can benefit. Do you have any handy tips for our students currently studying SpeedWriting? My main tip for all BakerWrite speedwriters is to do something every day; just never give up. Also, always keep your writing small and close together and don’t press too hard. 60 seconds with...Angie Lewis (Training Team Leader in Croydon) 1)How long have you worked at Pitman Training?
