This year’s theme for both Canadian Library Month
& Saskatchewan Library Week is Libraries Connect.
The theme, Libraries Connect, highlights how libraries enable people to connect with others, foster the
development of ideas, and promote the growth of
strong communities.
For generations, libraries and librarians have worked
at the grass roots level, providing access to current
information, bringing forward new programs and
ideas to share, leading and supporting communities
as they grow.
While always evolving to meet the needs of our users, engaging in new technologies and providing
access to varieties of formats for different learning
styles, libraries continue to be at the centre of their
communities.
Libraries connect people with resources and, all year,
they explore and acquire new and varied materials
to provide the broadest selection for library patrons
to connect people, ideas, and communities.
Our Library provides up-to-date downloadable books,
movies, Internet access, electronic databases and
social media, print collections, reference services,
and public programs to help people find what they
need.
This October we're highlighting our online resources:
books, audiobooks, newspapers and magazines and
online databases. Stop by for a demonstration and
learn about all you can do with your library card!

Light Yagami is an ace student with great prospects--and he's bored out of his mind. But all that
changes when he finds the Death Note, a notebook dropped by a rogue Shinigami death god.
Any human whose name is written in the notebook
dies, and now Light has vowed to use the power of
the Death Note to rid the world of evil. Will Light's
noble goal succeed, or will the Death Note turn him
into the very thing he fights against?
Why I picked it up: I had already heard about the
series when I found the books in store. The whole
idea sounded too fascinating not to pick up as
much of the set as I could.
Why I finished it: The game of cat and mouse was
so intense I found myself zipping through each volume with barely contained excitement. The characters were interesting, intelligent, devious and
some just strange but I loved how they all fit into
the story in some way or another. I also wanted to
see if justice would prevail in the end.
Who I would give it to: Anyone who is a fan of the
graphic novel/manga genre I highly recommend
you check this one out. Also anyone who may
not consider reading a graphic novel but enjoy a
good mystery I definitely suggest this series. It's
short and chalk full of information, and the puzzle
will turn your thinking cap on for sure.
