La Kiuva Cooperative was founded in 1975. Valle d’Aosta, located in the north east of
the Italian peninsula, is the smallest of Italy’s regions. This mountainous territory is
traversed by a river, the Dora Baltea and by a central valley approximately 80 km in
length, which branches off into numerous lateral valleys.
The wine-producing area in which La Kiuva cooperative operates is spread out over the
mouth of the valley, from the municipality of Hône to the municipality of Montjovet.
The cooperative encouraged its partners to save and replant abandoned vineyards,
which where located in perfectly exposed areas of the valley, it introduced different
varieties of international and indigenous grapes and invested to enhance the principal
vineyard, Nebbiolo, locally known as “Picotendro”.
With the expansion in 2008, more room for storage became necessary: instead of
building new warehouses, it was decided to use the ancient cellars of the village of
Arnaud, which guarantee the perfect temperature all year around and can be visited on
the last Sunday of May.

The Cordero di Montezemolo family has deep roots in the History of Piedmont.
Since 1340, 19 generations have managed the Monfalletto property in the town of La Morra,
the center of Barolo wine production. The historical single-body vineyard area of 28 hectares
(69 acres) extends over all sides of the hill, dominated by an imposing cedar of Lebanon of
venerable age. Official documents attest that the wine production on this hill started over 200
years ago.
The land has always been cultivated with local varieties, planted and selected according to sun
exposure, type of soil and altitude. The vineyards are managed using the most efficient and
least invasive cultivation techniques, in order to preserve the biodiversity and to guarantee a
healthy and suitable environment for all individuals that work and contribute to the final
production quality.

Fontanabianca‘s owner Aldo Pola aims to communicate the territory of Neive, a small and
characteristic village near Barbaresco. The winery is located in the hamlet of Bordini, surrounded
by vines which seem to disappear beyond the horizon.
Fontanabianca has been modernized over the years, with the intention to obtain the right
balance between tradition and technology that is necessary to preserve wine features at their
best. Quality is the most important concept for this producer and it includes one year of work
for each vintage.
The wine-making area is equipped with stainless steel vats with temperature control, where the
must fermentation occurs in a natural way. Large oak barrels and small barriques are used for
the ageing process. The winery has also a tasting room for its guests, who have the chance to
taste the natural wines, surrounded by the vineyards.

Ottosoldi, literally “eight pounds”, is a niche producer from Piemonte, located in the
municipality of Serravalle Scrivia, part of the Gavi DOCG area.
The 8 hectares of vineyards represent the heritage of the owners’ grandfather, who
purchased the first piece of land for a mere eight pennies, giving life to a new wine-making
tradition. Two generations later, bound by a life-long friendship and guided by a shared
passion for wine two families, Moccagatta and Marsiaj, have transformed a wonderful
memory into a real project.
Ottosoldi reflects the enthusiasm and desire to offer the world a high quality brand tied to
traditional values and to the Italian life style. It’s a project dedicated to all grandparents who
pass on fundamental family values from generation to generation.
Hand-crafts, historical tradition and attention to detail are all highly important and are an
intrinsic part of Ottosoldi identity.

For four generations, and since 1939 the Scagliola family has been dedicated to the cultivation
of its vineyards, located in the south of Piedmont. The family is committed to produce great
quality wines, using healthy and clean vine-growing techniques, respecting nature and the
biological balance of the vines.
Every year, in order to enhance the product quality, a “green harvest” takes place in Scagliola’s
vineyards. A severe pruning is done in order to reduce the yield per hectare and the results are
impressive. The winery has recently been completely renovated with the construction of a new
and magnificent underground aging room.
Scagliola wines also feature beautiful labels, especially created from the artist Massimo Ricci
who is able to capture the essence of the products and represent them in a unique way. Every
wine has its dedicated picture, which makes it recognizable at a first glance.

Quality, personality and great wines. This, today, is Villa Sparina, a vineyard founded by the
Moccagatta family in the 1970's. A farm which has always put the territory at the center of its
projects with an eye to valorizing the history and culture tied to the grapes of the area.
Villa Sparina comprises 100 hectares of land, 70 of which are cultivated with local grapes for
the production of Gavi and Barbera wines. And, if it is true that all great wines are made
essentially in the vineyard, Villa Sparina is situated on perfect ground, with an excellent
position and mild climate. These three factors favor the natural production of great wines.
Among the wines, the Monterotondo stands out, a cru obtained from the Cortese grape of
Gavi, grown in a small, historic and specialized vineyard. The Gavi and the Barbera are noted
for their fresh taste, while the Spumante Brut Metodo Classico gives us, year after year, the
pleasure and freshness of little bubbles.

Dürer-Weg (Dürer’s path) is the leg of the journey that brought the famous German
Renaissance painter and engraver Albrecht Dürer from Salorno to Cembra on the border
between Alto Adige and Trentino in 1494. That path is still travelled by of enthusiasts of nature
and local culture, retracing the footsteps of the artist’s famous journey.
Today, the Dürer-Weg winery is located in the historic “An der Lan” palace in Salorno, already a
winery in 1900, where it produces wines from the Alto Adige region for La Vis members.
On the well-exposed hills of Buchholz (Pochi), Neumarkt (Egna) and Salurn (Salorno), clones of
historic Lagrein, Gewürztraminer, Pinot bianco, Pinot nero, Chardonnay and Pinot Grigio grapes
are grown. The vineyards are tended, almost cared for with extraordinary dedication, by the
families of farmers who for centuries have braved the unpredictable rhythms of nature.

St. Pauls, in the municipality of Eppan, is located in one of South Tyrol’s most beautiful winegrowing areas. The grapes ripen in optimum climatic conditions on the green and sunny hills.
The wine cellar was built on four floors over a century ago. St. Paul’s entire winemaking
process relies on gravity: the mash is unloaded on the top floor, the grapes fall down from
above, with no mechanical movement squashing them unnecessarily. They then land on the
next floor down in the fermenting cellar.
St. Pauls constantly strives to achieve harmony between tradition and technical progress in
order to develop wines of special quality and distinctive character. On the one hand the cellar
is characterized by tradition and cultural heritage, and on the other by cutting edge
technology. New steel tanks between old walls – this is symbolic of the interaction between
old and new in the St. Pauls winery.

In 1850, the Cembran family laid the foundations of the current company, which was formed
into a cooperative in 1948. Located in the heart of Trentino, Cantina La Vis constitutes a
collective heritage of winemaking that joins over 800 growers. Each and every grower is
dedicated to the care of their hilly territory, perfectly fitted for the purpose of cultivating
vines, which grow at altitudes of up to 800 metres.
Cantina La Vis was one of the companies that started innovative plans such as the Quality and
Zoning Projects, which studied how best to achieve the full potential from these lands.
The production headquarters and the winery are located in Lavis, near Trento. The production
area consists of vineyards located in the Adige Valley, which extends from the Lavis, Sorni,
and Meano hills, to the characteristic terraces of the Cembra Valley, to Isera in Vallagarina
and to the province of Verona.
Simboli is a collection of carefully selected wines, which represent the identity of Trentino.
La Vis aims to communicate the strong ties between vineyards, territory and manual work.
Strongly rooted in the local culture and traditions, the concept of quality and territoriality has
been further emphasized by the “zoning” and eco-sustainability projects.
Pioneering and far-sighted, these projects have stimulated the evolution of vineyard and
winery techniques that ensure that maximum potential of the enological product is fully
realized.

Selection is the fundamental principle governing the production of Ritratti wines.
The premium selected grapes are cultivated in the most suitable geographical zones,
characterized by a heterogeneous micro-climate and therefore a highly varied environment.
The inclination and exposure of the vineyards create near-perfect conditions for optimizing the
benefits deriving from the sunlight.
The porphyry, a volcanic rock rich in minerals is the defining and characteristic factor of the
Ritratti wines. This particular soil composition imparts mineral notes to the wines, enhancing
their drinkability and distinctiveness.
From these selected vineyards limited quantities of each grape variety are harvested and used
to produce high quality that fully express the uniqueness of the territory from which they
originate.
OPTIMALLY SELECTED VINEYARD LOCATIONS
Maximum care is paid to every detail - from the identification of the most suitable
site for the grape cultivation, to every step in the production process both in the
vineyard and in the winery. For many years, La Vis Members have been
systematically reducing the grape yield per bunch to increase the quality.
Winter pruning, cutting back the new buds, stripping of the leaves and thinning of
the clusters are only a few of the techniques implemented to counterbalance the
forces of nature.

CEMBRA was founded in 1952 and it is among the highest-located wineries in Europe.
The territory is the most distinctive element of this brand, and it represents its philosophy,
from cultivation to production.
The largest part of Cembra’s production is represented by white wines, among which the
Müller Thurgau stands out, while the Pinot Nero is note worthy among the reds. The terroir’s
peculiarities are best represented by the Schiava grape variety.
The production area and the wineries are located in the heart of the Cembra Valley, one of
the most characteristic areas of eastern Trentino.
Characterized by the Alpine climate, extreme temperature ranges, and excellent sun
exposure, the area is perfect for grape cultivation and vineyards are located at altitudes of
550 to 850 metres.

The Cesarini Sforza Spumanti company was founded in 1974 from pioneers of the classic
method production, with the goal of producing the best sparkling wines from the Trento
region. Since then, Cesarini Sforza has always promoted wine growing that is based on
precision and quality, enhancing the value of Chardonnay and Pinot Nero grapes.
Origin, tradition, history and innovation are important elements of Cesarini Sforza wines,

“Brut Riserva”, which has been a continuing favorite for more than forty years.
After joining La Vis group and the first large-scale national «wine zoning project», Cesarini
Sforza soon reached new levels of quality and excellence, thanks to the additional know-how

Located in San Pietro in Cariano, in the Veneto region, Nicolis is in the heart of the classic zone.
Nicolis produces high quality wines, due to the enterprising strength and intuition of Angelo
Nicolis, followed by his wife, and their children.
Today, the winery is headed by three brothers. Giancarlo takes accurate care of the grapevines,
thus guaranteeing the quality of the fruit that is produced. Giuseppe, as an enologist, follows
the process of vinification. Massimo helps the brothers with the commercial aspects and
relations with foreign customers. Since 1951, they have committed all of their efforts to
producing world-class wines, weaving their own personal goals into the precious fabric of
Valpolicella’s history and distinctive character.
Their great passion for the production of fine wines was given a new impulse with the insertion
of the sons in their activities, who having completed studies in enology and business
management, personally conduct most of the activities of the winery.
The art of viticulture is a heritage that the Nicolis family has passed on for generations,
cultivating its family-owned property of 90 hectares, since 1951.

The primary mission of Villa di Corlo winery is to produce the best Lambrusco from grapes
grown in the company-owned vineyards, combined with cutting-edge technology.
In the well-exposed vineyards, located in the Emilia-Romagna region at 320 meters above sea
level, Chardonnay, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon are grown. The microclimate of this area
affects the grapes ripening and gives the wine its peculiar characteristics.
Lambrusco is a modern wine with significant organoleptic characteristics: it has a lively sparkle,
an intense, persistent aroma, a rich flavor exalted by a good acidity counteracted, in the semidry and sweeter versions, by varying degrees of sugars.
Villa di Corlo wine Cellar, built in accordance with the rural characteristics of the area, is
equipped with the most technologically advanced installations for the processing of sparkling
wines. The company made an important investment in renwable photovoltaic sources and
today it is proud to use green energy for its production.

The origins of the site where Cafaggio is currently located date back to the 6th century. The
estate was developed in the 15th century, when Benedictine monks owned the land and
began cultivating grapevines and olives.
For over thirty years, the Cafaggio Basilica has produced and sold its wines on the
international market. Today it is considered one of the best producers of Chianti Classico,
Chianti Classico Riserva and “Super Tuscan” wines.
Cafaggio is located in Panzano in Chianti, in the “golden valley” of the Chianti Classico area.
The 400 meters altitude and mainly southern exposure provide the ideal microclimate and
create the best conditions for developing the company’s wine production.

Cappella Sant’Andrea has belonged to the Leoncini family since the ‘50s. The 30
hectares property is located on the hills facing the beautiful medieval city of San
Gimignano, which is just about one kilometer away. With the help of their agronomist,
Ruggero Mazzilli, the family decided to adopt an organic cultivation method for the 8
hectares vineyards.
At Cappella Sant’Andrea, wine is produced respecting ancient traditions and using

Fontella represents the best winemaking traditions of “classic Italian wines”. Each wine is
intended to represent traditional Italian wine production in each area of origin. Discover
Chianti with Fontella, made from grapes grown in vineyards located in the best-suited areas
of Tuscany.
Ruby red, with a typical Chianti nose, smooth, medium-bodied palate, with an attractive
lingering finish. The grapes are de-stemmed and soft crushed. Fermentation takes place in
stainless steel at a controlled temperature of 25°C, and lasts around 12 days. Frequent
remontage occurs throughout fermentation in order to extract color and achieve soft tannins.
Malolactic fermentation is carried out. The juice is left in contact with the skins for 8 –10 days.

The Máté family wine estate nestles on two private hills in the temperate, seaward zone
of Montalcino. A Roman vineyard 2,000 years ago, the seven campi of marvelously varied
terroir lie between 300 and 400 meters above sea level. Totaling 7 hectares (15 acres)
among Mediterranean woods of herbs and wild fruit, they were designed by Fabrizio Moltard,
agronomist to Angelo Gaja. The yields are kept extremely low by three annual green prunings
to concentrate flavors. Selected, hand-picked at fullest maturity and fermented in small
temperature-controlled stainless steel vats or new wooden barrels, the grapes are punched
down by hand to extract colors and tannins
In the Máté vineyards and winery, no effort is spared to yield wines of great refinement,
replete with unforgettable flavors.

The Intorcia Winery was founded in 1930 by the Intorcia family, who still runs it to this day.
Culture, history, passion and tradition are just some of the elements which characterize the
Intorcia family activity: begun as a small family run winery, today Intorcia covers an area of
25,000 square meters (around 270,000 square feet) with the capacity to process over 100,000
hectoliters (about 2,641,720 gallons) of wine, including evocative aging cellars capable of
refining up to 20,000 hectoliters (528,344 gallons) of wine in oak barrels.
The estate has always been known and appreciated for its Marsala, a wine which perfectly
reflects the peculiarities of Sicily, where the Mediterranean climate allows a perfect grape
ripening.

LaMura Natura Sicilia is a range of wines which are totally pure: nothing has been added nor
taken away.
Sicily is considered the best Italian region for organic wine production, thanks to its
particular climate conditions. The abundance of sunshine combined with sea breezes and
low precipitation are the ideal conditions for grape growing and ripening.
As a result, the grape quality is consistent and excellent. La Mura aims to transform these
grapes into wine enhancing their natural characteristics and respecting the environment
during the entire production process.
With this selected line, Ethica Wines wishes to make Sicily more accessible to a larger
audience and to communicate the nature of this unique and rare piece of Italy.
