TOURIST DESTINATIONS IN THE REGION
In the area of Podkarpackie Province is located Łańcut Castle (17 km from Rzeszów).
The history of Łańcut stretches back to the early Middle Ages, founded as a town in 1349
under King Casmir the Great. The major landowning families in Łańcut were, successively,
the Pilecki’s, Stadnicki’s, Lubomirski’s and the Potocki’s. Łańcut Castle is one of the most
beautiful aristocratic residences in Poland, famous for its excellent interiors and
extraordinarily interesting collection of horse-drawn carriages. The palace complex is
surrounded by an old and picturesque park in the English style filled with pavilions and farm
buildings, all part of the former the daily life of the castle. Castle can be visited with a guide
in languages: English, German, French and Russian.
The Carpathian Mountains or Carpathians
are a range of mountains
forming an arc roughly 1,500 km (932 mi) long across Central and Eastern Europe, making
them the second-longest mountain range in Europe. In the region of Rzeszów, the threshold of
the Carpathian Mountains is significantly reduced with the consequence that the youngest
geological formations entered already into the mountain area forming the so-called Gulf of
Rzeszów. One of the activities of the Association of the Carpathian Euroregion Poland is
to focus on comprehensive help with finding social and economic partners in the area of the
Carpathian Mountains, help with the preparation of territorial projects and mediation with
contatcs with the public authorities and business suport institutions in this area. In this year,
the new and the main action of the Association of the Carpathian Euroregion Poland will be
to introduce a new brand - The Carpathian Brand into the market. It will be an economic
quality mark of the Carpathians. We are going to promote the brand in the Carpathian
foothills, across Europe and all over the world to encourage tourists to visit us by showing the
beauty and potential of the Carpathian Mountains.
Bieszczady- a mountain range that runs from the extreme south-east
of
Poland through Ukraine and Slovakia. It forms the western part of the Eastern Beskids
(Beskidy Wschodnie), and is more generally part of the Outer Eastern Carpathians.
The mountain range is situated between the Łupków Pass (640 m) and the Vyshkovskyi
Pass (933 m)
One of the attractions of the Subcarpathian region is Solina- a village in Lesko County,
Subcarpathian Voivodeship, in south-east Poland (107 km from Rzeszów). Lake Solina is an
artificial lake in the Bieszczady Mountains region. It is the best known tourist attraction of the
region, with waterside villages like Solina, Myczkowce and Polańczyk catering to watersports
enthusiasts. The lake's great depth, water clarity, and mountainous scenery makes it a very
popular destination for boaters. Because of these qualities the lake has been nicknamed the
"Bieszczady Sea".
8
Another attraction worth to see on the occasion of the visit to Rzeszów is
Krasiczyn
Castle, located only 10 km from the historic Przemyśl and 80 km from Rzeszów, close to
motorway 98.One of the most beautiful pearls of the Renaissance and Mannerism architecture
in Poland, the Krasiczyn Castle, was constructed at the turn of the 17th century by Stanisław
Krasicki. The vast panorama of the Bieszczady Mountains encourages for hiking, biking or
horse riding.
The Rural Architecture Museum of Sanok (89 km from Rzeszów) is one of
the biggest open air museums in Poland. It was established in 1958 by Aleksander Rybicki
and contains 200 buildings, which have been relocated from different areas of Sanok Land
(Low Beskids, Pogórze Bukowskie, Doły Jasielsko-Sanockie). The Sanok museum shows
19th and early 20th century life in this area of Poland. Museum can be visited with a guide in
languages: English, German, French and Russian.
