We have always wanted to be different from traditional comedy clubs and other stand-up comedy events. This is why we go out of our way to add special features to our festival, which gives our event multiple levels - helping to widen the target demographic while building new audiences from a young age. Family Comedy Show Every year we offer afternoon shows that are suitable for and marketed towards families. Although not stand-up comedy, we use circus and variety performers from all over the world who incorporate comedy into their acts. This is a way we can offer shows that everyone can attend. Also, it gives our sponsors additional opportunities to reach markets of varying age groups. Steven Wright 2014 headliner Late Night Cabarets These shows start when the regular shows finish. The UpTown BIA and the Downtown Kitchener BIA have been outstanding partners; offering support through monetary contribution, advertising, overall awareness, and in securing venues for our event. Festival Expansion In 2013, we started the Port Credit Comedy Festival. This was the first step in expanding our brand outside the Region. We intend to create one “sister” festival every three years until we have a total of five events running in South Western Ontario all surrounding and supporting the Kitchener-Waterloo Comedy Festival. 2016 will see the start of the brand new Burlington Comedy Festival. This continued action will help bring more attention to our community and allow expansion through media and marketing opportunities for our local sponsors and partners. In addition to running the Port Credit Comedy Festival, we currently partner and share costs with two other festivals: the Brantford Comedy Festival and the Winnipeg International Children’s Festival. These partnerships allow us to offer big name talent more shows, therefore getting better value for everyone. Kitchener - Kitchener Waterloo - Waterloo Comedy Festival Charitable Partner Since the inception of the KW Comedy Festival we have partnered with the Food Bank of Waterloo Region. We know that we have a successful event, and as it grows and our exposure increases, we have the opportunity to give back to the community that supports us. We are proud to do this through this great organization that provides food and necessary items to so many families in need every year. Since 2010, we have collected over 2,000 lbs in non-perishable food items and over $8,000 in cash donations. This year, online ticket purchasers will have the option of easily making a donation to The Food Bank of Waterloo Region as they complete their booking for the festival. We’re hopeful this initiative will result in record-breaking totals and more financial assistance for our wonderful partner. As our event grows each year we will continue to share with our community. www.thefoodbank.ca Brent Butt 2012 headliner Kitchener - Waterloo Comedy Festival (some of our) Contributing Local Sponsors/Partners Kitchener - Waterloo Comedy Festival Sponsor/Partner Testimonials “Kool 105.3 and KFUN 99.5 are proud to be sponsors of the Comedy Festival from the start.
