European Producers of Laminate Flooring Make room for dreams with laminate flooring For the sheer joy of living! Tr ampled under foot day af ter day and yet they ’ll st ill r ewar d you wi th natur al beaut y. Soft-steppers laminate floors So laminate floors are noisy? Not any more! With a foam underlay between the floor screed and the laminate flooring, you can significantly reduce the sound of walking experienced in rooms below as you move around above (footstep sound). So your downstairs neighbor will be able to sleep soundly at any time of night or day. What is more, there are also insulation underlays which reduce the sound of walking experienced within the room you are moving around in (drum sound). They are either laid loose or are bonded tightly to the laminate flooring. Whether it‘s drum sound or footstep sound – today‘s technology makes all kinds of things possible. That‘s why laminate floorings are now real soft-steppers and can stand proudly alongside other floor coverings in this respect. Or didn‘t you know that? Wood is one of our planet‘s sustainable and renewable raw materials, making laminate flooring a product that‘s light on resources. And thanks to new processes, laminate floors can even be recycled. When dismantled as boards, the majority of the floor can be put back into the production process. The grinded boards can even be used in agriculture and horticulture as a growing medium. Disposing of laminate flooring is a safe and cost-effective process: it‘s a product that confers protection – rather than imposing a burden – on the environment. How laminate is made Laminate floorings are made up of a number of layers. On the top side is a decor with a transparent, wear-resistant contact surface; in the middle is a core layer made of high density wood fiber, and on the back side is a stabilizing layer to provide floor stability. These might be complemented by further layers, e.g. an underlay for footstep sound reduction. The surface of a laminate floor can be printed with any design at all and gives the floor its individual appearance. And now everything‘s possible, thanks to modern printing processes. Not only can you print laminate flooring with different decors, but you can also create tactile surface textures by an entirely routine process surfaces that lend the floor a natural appearance and create a whole new feeling for floors. 01 Floors that ring the changes: Glaze graphite + cream tiles by Pergo 02 Dark elegance: Italian walnut by Egger 03 Exotic moods: Makassar by Meister 04 Fruit-wood species are in fashion: Madeira Pine by Kronospan Cleaning tips ✓ The best solution is to keep the dirt out! Laying a generously sized doormat at the entrance of your home will do. ✓ Just take the vacuum cleaner over your laminate flooring regularly or remove the dust using a cloth or mop. ✓ Once or twice a month, wipe with a moist, well wrung-out mop. ✓ Wipe up water spillages immediately, so that moisture can’t seep into the joints. ✓ Scuff marks from heels or dirt brought in off the street can be rubbed off when dry with a soft cloth, e.g. a nylon pad. ✓ Juice, wine and greasy foods can all be removed with a damp cloth. For paints and dyes, we recommend a gentle solvent, e.g. acetone or vinegar essence. ✓ Do not use floor-wax or polish of any kind. It won’t stick to the surface and produces unsightly scuffs and trails of footprints. Overall, laminate floorings are easy to clean and extremely hygienic, as dirt simply can’t penetrate the surface. 01 Superior kitchen design: Stonehenge by Kronotex 02 Bellos’ favorite place: Tile design by Berry 03 Child-friendly: Natural birch by Classen Hygienic and aller gen-safe Laminate flooring has a sealed surface, which ensures that dust and dirt simply can‘t penetrate or cling on stubbornly. That’s why it’s hygienic, easy-care and kind to allergy sufferers – all for the good of your health! Furthermore, cleaning detergents are practically a thing of the past. That’s good news for the environment and good news for your shopping bill! All you have to do is remove the dust regularly. Simply wipe clean with a cloth or mop or use a vacuum cleaner and it’s clean again, fast as lightning! If you prefer to be on the safe side, you can even go for a laminate floor with an anti-bacterial surface. With its special active layer, bacteria and germs don’t stand a chance. The ideal solution, especially for kitchens. Only manufactur ers who have pledged to maintain the highest qual i t y standar ds ar e members of the EPLF. What is the EPLF? The EPLF European Producers of Laminate Flooring is an organization of leading European laminate flooring manufacturers. Currently participating in the EPLF are 20 laminate flooring manufacturers from a host of European countries and more than 30 suppliers. Since its establishment in 1994, the Association has worked tirelessly for quality and transparency in the European laminate flooring market and carries out a proactive program of PR activities among consumers and retailers. The creation of the EN 13329 European Standard of laminate flooring originated as an initiative of the EPLF to lay down a quality standard for laminate floors. The mark of quality CELQ Certified European Laminate Quality is a European quality mark for laminate floorings. It stands for first-class product quality. At the CELQ website www.celq.net, consumers will find a list of certification numbers for laminate floorings which have been awarded the CELQ mark. These floorings have undergone testing by independent testing institutions for all the basic everyday demands, e.g. environmental friendliness, abrasion resistance, bleaching resistance, and many more. The certification number is displayed on the CELQ quality label, which is displayed on the laminate flooring packaging. Consumers should always look for this mark when purchasing flooring. 01 Relax with a good book: Maple farmhouse floorboards by Quick-Step 02 More exotic than ever: Rustic cedar by EPI 03 It´s tea time : Sugar pine by Roysol Addresses Agepan Tarkett Laminate Park GmbH & Co.
