Benefit for the Senior Center of Elk Grove Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at The Original Mike’s Diner 9139 Stockton Blvd July 2013 senior Center of Elk Grove Celebrating its 30th Year 2nd Annual Crusin’ for the Center Car Show Car Show open to all cars and trucks all makes and models Vehicle registration begins July 8, 2013 Entry Fee $20.00 per vehicle Goodie bags to the first 30 car registrants Awards will be given in several categories Vehicle entry forms available at the SCEG Front Desk Lunch by Original Mike’s Diner Available for Purchase Lion’s Club Pancake Breakfast Saturday, July 13, 2013 8:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. Menu includes pancakes, sausage, bacon, eggs, orange juice, fruit, and coffee for the low price of $5 for adults and $3 for children under 12. The breakfast is open to all ages and all proceeds benefit the SCEG. Diaper Drive The Senior Center is collecting disposable diapers and diaper wipes to donate to the Chicks In Crisis Parenting Program. A box will be set up in the Lobby during the month of July. Please help us support this valuable community program. Passed Our Way Irene Kunkel, please remember her family IMPORTANT NEW PROGRAM AT THE SENIOR CENTER The Senior Center is pleased to be partnering with the Elk Grove Police Department to offer Project Lifesaver. This FREE program is specific to those in our Elk Grove community who are at risk of wandering away from their home or care facility. As you may already know, the key to helping those who are challenged and their families is to find those who are missing as quickly as possible. The Project Lifesaver Program Administrator Jose’ Herrera is now available at the Senior Center one day a week to answer questions you may have about this very important program. Brochures are available at the Senior Center Front Desk or you may call the Senior Center at (916) 685-3160 to make an appointment with Mr. Herrera. Thursday Morning Movies Thursday, July 11, 2013 9:45 a.m. in the Dining Room “Protocol” with Goldie Hawn Notice The Annual General Meeting of the Senior Center Board of Directors will be held Monday, July 8, 2013 at 3:15 p.m. in the SCEG Classroom. The 2013-2014 Board of Directors will be installed at this time. The public is welcome to attend. For qualification requirements call Elk Grove Food Bank Services at (916) 685-8453. Home Delivered Meals. Are you having a difficult time preparing a meal? Or are you recovering at home after a hospital visit and in need of support. Meals on Wheels by ACC provides hot or frozen lunches for seniors 60 years old and better who are homebound and in need nutritional assistance. Please call Meals on Wheels by ACC at 444-9533 for information. Upcoming Meetings at the Senior Center Monthly Alzheimer’s Association Caregiver Support Group. The group meets at 10 a.m. on the second Wednesday of every month in the Senior Center of Elk Grove Classroom. Neuropathy Support Group meets the 2nd Tuesday of every month at 1:00 p.m. at the Senior Center. The next meeting will be July 9, 2013 in the SCEG Classroom. AARP Driver Safety Class Please call Royce Tomson at (916) 478-2959 to register for the July 30th and 31st classes. Participants pay a $3 room use fee at the beginning of the first class. Singles Social Group Activities The next Senior Singles meeting will be Wednesday July 3rd at 10:00 a.m. in the SCEG Library.
