-2SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
The products in the ST range are folded or shaped sheets or plates in pre-lacquered galvanized
steel or stainless steel wih are fixed by their longitudinal edging. They are characterized by their
flat appearance and by the absence of visible fastenings after installation. (technical drawings –
nb. 15 to 20)
These shapes exist with different trimmings conditioned by the geometry of their longitudinal
adges, influencing the appearance and arrangement possibilities of the longitudinal junctions,
generally vertical, or horizontal, or possibly oblique. This cladding is designed for vertical facades
of buildings that are public or private, industrial, commercial of for dwellings, new constructions or
buildnigs undergoing renovation.(technical drawings – nb. 21&22 and 32&33)
The products in the ST range are used for the exterior cladding of building walls using the applied
cladding technique with ventilation airspace.

-3FINISH ELEMENTS
The finish elements are manufactued from the same plate (same thickness, same quality of
material) as ST panels in a maximum length of 6.00 m.
. Acroterion crown (technical drawings – nb. 23 to 25 and 34 to 36)
. Low guards , etc… (technical drawings – nb.26 to 28 and 37 to 39)
. Window frames
. Outside and inside corners (technical drawings – nb. 29 to 31 and 40 to 42)
. Divisors
IMPLEMENTATION
The products of the ST range are intended to be installed on walls rails according to the
professional rules for manufacture and implementation of metallic siding. The system is to be
installed on a ruled secondary frame allowing a ventilated sheet of air between the panel and the
support wall or thermal insulation. This secondary frame is to satisfy the requirements of C.S.T.B.
n° 3194 January-February 2000 – « General conditions of design and implementation of the
metal frame and thermal unsulation of offset siding. »
The subframe wich serves as a support for ST cladding is an understakin in itself and is not an
integral part of the ST procedure. The subframe conditions the final result, particularly with regard
to the appearance of the cladding. A subframe is systematically required, including in the case of
double-skin cladding with metallic plates on the interior skin. It serves as a support and a means
to fasten the cladding.
PARTICULAR POINTS REGARDING SUBFRAME
The flatness, alignment and poise of the frontage walls or the main frames of buildings are
generally not good enough to achieve the desired effect without adjustment of the subframe.
The subframe and its hanging devices must be sufficiently strong to transmit the cladding loads.
The bending factor to be respected is 1/200 in normal wind conditions. A framework design that
minimized the building's strain effects and the thermal dimensional variations of the cladding is
recommended. The products of the ST range do not add ot the overall stability of buildings.
For aesthetic considerations it is advised to limit spans to 1,5m for the ST900 and to 2m for the
other blades. The installation and the attachment of the ST blades are made on metal ribbans of
following characteristics:
. the width of support is of minimum 40mm.
. the thickness of section of secondary frame has to allow to obtain that the plates must be fixed
to ensure a minimum characteristic strength of 300 daN.
ORGANIZATION
The PMA company is the product manufacturer and does not install the product. ST panels are
to be installed by contractors having the required professional qualifications. Design and studes
prior to executing the facade are not incumbent on the maker PMA nor on the distributor
companies. On request, PMA can provide technical assistance.
The purpose of the present specification is not to give details on all points of implementation but
to state the main technical definitions of the panels and their particular characteristics. To help in
the study of the facades, it is complemented in the appendix with particular design suggestions
and finishing elements.
-4HANDLING, UNDLOADING AND STORAGE
Handling operations and carried out in consideration fo the particular features of the products.
They are to be handled vertically on edge.
The panels are stored in bundles, slightly inclined in the longitudinal direction on a flat surface
without stacking more than two packages. Storage time on the work site is to be reduced ot the
minimum.
The essential precaution consists in avoiding water from entering by runoff or condensation
between the panels. Store sheltered from sunlight.
Metallic facades have to be normally maintained in accordance with the prescriptions of the
Professional Rules for Mettalic Siding (article 4-2-91 exterior maintenance).
Although naturally cleanable by runoff of rainwater, if needed, they can be cleaned periodically
with household detergent, without chlorine added, with no use of abrasive or solvent, followed by
rinsing with fresh water.
Maintenance notably consists of:
. Eliminating various vegetation (such as moss) and any incompatible matter that might be
deposited on the facing surface.
. Repair of any localized degradation as soon as detected, such as incipient corrosion caused, for
example, by exterior deterioration actions.
CONDITIONNING AND TRANSPORT
A delivery note is glued on each package stating:


Customer order reference
Batch reference




Facing thickness
Bundle content (number and length)
Color reference of pre-coated plates.
The weight of thebundles may in no case exceed 2.5 tons.
Products of ST range and their accessories are to be transported under conditions that preserve
the integrity of the characteristics (shimmed up packages, carefully stacked and strapped,
tarpaulin-covered trucks).
TECHNICAL DRAWINGS
Following technical drawings are examples of processing of the singular points of installation
the ST procuts range. Any other solutions can be envisaged and studied by the contractors by
respecting the specificities of the product.
The specifications for the use of the ST products range are validated by SOCOTEC within
the framework of technical survey nb. GX 4335 (published Dec. 1999) available on inquiry
with PMA.
