Our Mission:
The Dover Public
Library is committed to
being the center of
community life in Dover,
Ohio. It is our mission
to support life-long
learning by providing
information and
opportunities for
personal enrichment
and enjoyment to
people of all ages and
from all backgrounds in
Dover and throughout
the Tuscarawas Valley.
- Henry David Thoreau, "Walking"
This summer marks the 11th
year for the Annual Community
Walking Challenge. Coordinated by OSU
Extension-Tuscarawas County, this community
event challenges all residents of the
Tuscarawas Valley to get off the couch and get
moving. The theme for the 2015 walking
program is "Just Move!"
I would like to challenge you to stop at any
public library in Tuscarawas County and pick up
a tracker to log your walking time. Whether you
are mowing the lawn, riding bikes, or bailing
hay, the Summer Walking Challenge is about
getting people active so they can live fuller,
healthier, and more productive lives.
Participants that complete at least 30 hours of
activity by August 1st will receive a special
t-shirt. Those who participate in at least three of
the seven "adventure hikes" throughout the
county will receive a special walking stick.
The public library exists to nourish and
challenge you to grow in mind, body, and soul.
As the Chinese proverb says, "A journey of a
thousand miles begins with a
single step." Get moving this
summer and let the library help
you take that first step.

Position: Library Assistant
Family: Son Doug, Daughter

What do you like most about working at
the library?
I enjoy all of our patrons, but particularly
the children, watching them play in our
castle and make new friends. We have so
many great programs and activities for
everyone who visits our Dover Library. I
also love working with our great Library
staff; we are like family.
Who are your favorite authors?
Linda Castillo, Mary Higgins Clark, and
Debbie Macomber
What do you like to do in your free
time?
I enjoy: reading, playing cards, attending
Dover Football and Basketball games (I’ve
had season tickets for years), and Church
activities like our Bible Studies. I also
volunteer at Union Hospital and just
received my 3000 hour pin.
People would be surprised to know:
I can’t swim!
