ANNIE ARMSTRONG EASTER OFFERING®
Week of Prayer March 6 - 13
Each year, we honor the life and advocacy of Annie Walker Armstrong (1850-1938) when
we give to the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering® for North American missions. As a
tireless servant of God and a contagious advocate and supporter of missions efforts
throughout the world, Annie Armstrong led women to unite in missions endeavors that
ultimately led to the formation of Woman’s Missionary Union, for which she served as
Organized
1885
the first corresponding
secretary.
Annie believed in and followed Christ with all her heart, but it was her hands that
expressed that belief in tangible ways. She spent a great amount of time typing and
handwriting letters in support of missions. Many of these letters were quite lengthy and
all were filled with conviction that more could and should be done in our missions
efforts. Annie also never hesitated to use her hands to reach out to hug a child or
distribute food, clothing and the Word of God to those in need. Her hands held her own
Bible as she studied to know how best to share Gods love with others. And, most
important, Annie was a woman of prayer, folding her hands in prayer to intercede for
the missionaries and for those they were helping discover Christ.
Annie rallied churches to give more, pray more and do more for reaching people for
Christ. As modern-day missions advocates unite to continue that work today, we can be
confident that her legacy will also be ours.

THE BANQUET CONFERENCE
Saturday, March 5
Peninsula Baptist Church
687 Brawley School Road
Mooresville, NC 28117
Jesus teaches us to "set the table" for all
who will come. Children with special
needs are sometimes excluded from the
table because churches aren't equipped to
serve them well.
The Banquet conference offers training to
teachers and leaders of ministry to
children with special needs so that all feel
welcome and experience the truth and
love of Jesus at church. Training will be
offered for inclusive, self-contained and
reverse mainstreamed classes for children
with physical impairments, emotional,
social and sensory issues and learning
delays.

WOMEN’S MISSIONS
I hope spring is just around the corner, my crocus and
daffodils are blooming, so that is a good sign. I enjoy
watching God’s world bloom after a cold, dreary winter.
We had a productive session at our associational meeting
on Tuesday, Feb. 16. We welcomed Judy Tucker among us.
She will be serving as WMU Director for First Baptist Church,
Oakboro. She will be replacing Mae Brooks after our spring
session.
ALL ABOARD! Our spring session will be held at
Centerview Baptist Church fellowship hall Tuesday, May 17,
7:00 p.m. We will be inviting the WMU ladies from
Montgomery Baptist Assoc. to join us since our associations
are working side by side. Our speakers will be missionaries
who served abroad for many years. I hope you will attend
and bring your team. Let’s show our visitors how important
WMU and mission work is in Stanly County.
We will be feeding the Community Inn on Thursday,
March 3. The menu will be meatloaf, mashed potatoes,
green beans, rolls and dessert. Come and join us at 6:00 for
a time of fellowship. We will also be giving the inn a
monetary gift to use at its discretion on needed items.
We will not be having a fund-raiser for our scholarship this
year as we have it listed in our budget. We will need to look
at fund raising when we meet in the summer for next year.
If you have a high school senior who is planning to attend
a Baptist College in the fall or someone who is in a Baptist
college and could use some financial assistance, get in touch
with Joyce Whitley, our Scholarship Coordinator. We would
love to award a $750 Scholarship to a deserving young lady.
Don’t forget to collect food items, etc. for the Baptist
Children’s Home coming up in April. They are always
appreciative of any and all donations.
Reminder: We will be collecting paper products for the
Esther House during the month of May. Items (paper towels,
napkins, toilet paper, paper plates, Kleenex) are due in the
associational office on Thursday, June 2.
For those attending Mission Extravaganza April 1-3, we
look forward to your sharing at the Spring Session.
If your group needs a mission project in the next few
months, the ladies of Bridge to Recovery could use towels,
washcloths, blankets and sheets for single beds, cleaning
supplies and monetary donations.
Hope to see each and everyone of you at the Spring
Session.
May you continue to be richly blessed.

Greetings everyone from NC Baptist
Children's Homes. Hope everyone is
surviving winter and doing well. It seems
that with winter and its short days and
cold temperatures you just want to
hibernate; but good news, spring is just
around the corner. That is the time
things start happening at the BCH.
One of the big projects for BCH is the
annual food roundup in April. We hope
each church will participate in this
project. I will be sending a letter to each
church about the food drive along with a
list of food and supply items needed.
Dates that you may bring the food and
supplies by the Associational office will
begin on Monday April 18th through
May 2nd. The office is open from 8:00
4:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
Please note: The office is closed on
Friday. We will be reminding you again
next month about this project, but please
take time now to pray and begin
promoting this project.
Please always remember to keep the
children and staff of NC Baptist
Children's Homes in your prayers.
May God bless each of you.

Dear Leader
So you’re a leader, but what kind of leader are you? Are
you a leader by call or by default? Did you seek
leadership or did it seek you? What did others see in
you to ask you to serve in this way?
As you probably know by now, leaders are not leaders simply because they
hold a position. Whether pastor, deacon or custodian, the office one holds
does not automatically translate to influence or the ability to work with others
to accomplish a task.
The main ingredient of a godly leader is what J. Oswald Sanders describes as,
“an honorable ambition.” First Timothy 3:1-7 affirms those who aspire to
become leaders and lists traits they should model. As a growing leader, keep
this list before you. An honorable leadership position is never about being
recognized or obeyed by others. At its center, it is about serving others in
meaningful ways. Jesus modeled leadership by serving and giving Himself for
others.
So, dear church leader, why do you give your time and energy to Christ
through His Church? How does your service help others or advance the
causes of Christ in and through others? Take some time to reflect on this and
you will better invest yourself in the right people & organizations with greater
passion and results.
“If anyone aspires to be an overseer,
In grateful service
he desires a noble work.” I Timothy 3:1
