To Lethbridge College
On October 6th the Career Centre Staff took Mr. Mulder’s Pre-Engineering class to the Lethbridge College for an
Interactive Trades Day. The students were given a tour of the college to start their day and then a welcome to the Trades
where the chairs of 4 departments talked to them about the differences between apprenticeships, pre-employment and
certificates in relationship to the RAP Program. The students then were separated into 4 groups and each group had a
turn to experience 4 different trades programs. The students spent their time in each program doing interactive activities
taught by instructors from the college who teach those programs. The students were also treated to a lunch prepared by
the college culinary students. Thank you so much to the Lethbridge College for planning this day and making it such a
success.
To Galko Homes
Students and the Career Centre Staff were treated to a tour on October 22nd of Galko Homes Interior Design Centre. The
students were able to hear from the interior designers exactly what is involved in decorating a newly build Galko Home. The
designers showed us the wide array of products they can choose from and how they make their choices. They talked to the
students about product knowledge and about the budgets they must work within. They also talked about what education was
needed and what other fields Interior Design can lead into. They then took us to see two of their show homes they had worked
on. Thank you to Galko Homes for making this worthwhile field trip possible and to the ladies from the Galko Homes Design
Centre for taking the time out of their busy day to show us around.
