check your information in
the current directory and
call the church office with
updates by January 17.
Dear Church Members,
I want to thank you all
for your remembrances
of me through this
Christmas season.
Thank you to the
GAs and RAs for your
Christmas cards
which you made and
brought to my home
here at Cypress
Glenn, and thank you
for the lovely
Christmas bouquet
from the church,
brought to me by
Kevin Adee. I enjoyed
the visit very much,
and the flowers are so
beautiful!
It is a blessing to be a
part of such a caring
congregation.

Coordinator: Teresa Byrum
Beginning Wednesday, January 13, Teresa Byrum will be facilitating the
book study, Becoming More Than a Good Bible Study Girl. The author,
Lysa Terkeurst, shares from her own story of faith how she went
through the motions of living a Christian life to applying biblical truths in
her everyday life. As participants read Lysa's book and view video teachings, they will share and learn from each as well as from God's Word.
Please come join us!
Dear Church Family,
Thank you for
demonstrating the
love and compassion of
Jesus during our time of
grief. From all of you
we have learned what it
truly means to be
comforted, and
because of this, we will
know how to comfort
others in the future.
“He heals the
brokenhearted, and
binds up their wounds.”
Psalm 147:3
Lenora and Gail Lilley
Imagine how impoverished our understanding
of Jesus Christ and the mission of his church
would be without the Gospel of Matthew.
Living as Disciples of Jesus
Without Mathew, we would lose roughly half
of our cherished Christmas stories. Without
Matthew, we would miss that towering summary of Jesus’ teachings, the
“Sermon on the Mount.” We would not have Jesus’ firm but gentle
challenge that we “strive first for God’s kingdom and righteousness,”
confident that all the things we most need will be “given to us as well.”
Only in Matthew does Jesus spell out guidelines for reconciliation among
members of the church and promise as “where two or three are gathered
in my name, I am there among them.” It is in Matthew’s Gospel that Jesus
tells us that “whatever we do to the least of these” we do also to Him. Only
in Matthew do we have a fully formed statement of the “Great
Commission” to “make disciples of all nations."
Matthew’s Gospel seeks to form a community of faith in which people
faithfully confess Jesus as “the Messiah and Son of God” and follow Him in
lives of creative and adventurous discipleship. Come and take a journey
through the book of Matthew with us on Wednesday nights beginning
January 13 as we venture to live as disciples of Christ.

MEMORIAL MATTERS!
The Christmas Eve service was a blessing to all those in attendance. If
you missed the service or would like to view it again, visit our website at
tmbc.org under the resources tab.
On December 19, TMBC youth cleaned up a
yard for Christmas.
Library News
We have added five wonderful DVDs to our collection: Do You Believe?, When the Game Stands Tall, Fireproof, Courageous, and Moms’
Night Out. War Room is on its way! We can highly recommend each of these. Please note that a DVD may be checked out for 7 days
only. Please return all other library materials within a month’s time.
Thanks to our donors, we have acquired many new books --- fiction and nonfiction --- for all audiences. Among our new books are
Priscilla Shirer’s Fervent: A Woman’s Battle Plan for Prayer, Colleen Coble’s Distant Echoes, Karen Kingsbury’s Angels Walking, Warren
Wiersbe’s Be Joyful, Daniel and the Lion’s Den, Devotions for Youth, and many more.
If you have any suggestions for books or DVDs or need help finding material, please let Marcia Chesson know.
