March 2016 Issue 5 Newsletter Projects Update Letter from the Managing Director “Whatever we accomplish belongs to our entire group, a tribute to our combined effort”; Walt Disney Dear Colleagues, friends and partners, The Second quarter of 2016 has started, La Mer Project North Peninsula activity has now subsided due to substantial completion, a balance 400 lm of crown wall remains followed by finalization of rock works post crown wall to close. The Headland has seen good progress once again this month, we opted to progress the main crown wall ahead of rock works which allows early handover of area to follow on Contractors, this change in methodology proved successful & early handover of the Headland is on target. South Peninsula has seen the completion of South West Beach Groynes 2 & 3 with the commencement of Beach reclamation, Groyne 1 is advancing at great pace which should see completion by end April 2016. Crown wall has commenced on South Peninsula South Revetment following substantial completion of Rock Works in this area. Sieving has commenced onsite to create Beach Sand to Engineers Specification, this will be transported to each beach on completion and placed via Long Boom Excavators to the required profiles. Estimated completion date is June 2016 Deira Island Coastline Project PLC major projects are on schedule. La Mer is at 88% progress, Burj Al Arab Piling and sheds replacement is 100% complete, Al Hail Field @ 85%, and the other marine logistics projects adhering to the supply schedules of Clients. Every member of this great team, from labors and mechanics, The Bilal heavy duty operators, the marine crew, the construction team up to the administration and management team; you are all recognized, appreciated and should be proud for your role in La Mer, Burj Al Arab and all other projects that have contributed to the new footprint of this great emirate – Dubai; I personally thank you all for succeeding to make Projects Link Contracting a well-known name in the market for its capabilities and added value to Clients. Khaled A Hamid IMS Certification Company is currently preparing for Integrated Management System (IMS) certification scheduled for third quarter 2016. The IMS is a combination of three international standards – ISO 9001: 2015 - Quality Management System, ISO 14001: 2015 - Environmental Management System and OHSAS 18001: 2007 - Occupational Health and Safety Management System. In the run up to the certification, we are realigning existing processes and procedures to comply with the international standards. Implementing those standards would facilitate the company to continually improve upon safety, and reliability. The Company is already certified to ISO 9001 since 2013. Total quantity 1,447,000 Tons. Delivered 286,002 Tons. Estimated date of completion is July 2016 1 Projects Update LA Mer Project Celebrating Two Million Safe Man Hours AL Hail Field Development Project Rock Revetment works in A-A, B-B, C-C sections, & crest works in handed over areas is completed. Estimated completion date is May 2016 Burj Al Arab Shed Project Burj Al Arab Piling Project The main achievement in March 2016 has been the completion of 2 Million Safe Man Hours without Lost Time Incident for LA Mer Project. The milestone achievement was celebrated on 31st March 2016 at 5:00 P.M with approximately 400 employees from both day & night shifts. Meraas, Sogreah and other contractors joined the celebration. Certificates and prizes were awarded to the safety nominated workers & supervisors. Company also received n letter of appreciation from Meraas on achieving this milestone. Mr. Ian Roberts, Sogreah Sr. Resident Engineer congratulated and appreciated the efforts of Projects Link, a theme echoed by Mr. Andrew Scott, LA Mer Project Manager, in his address. Also Mr. Vinod Brutus, Health & Safety Manager added “Our client and consultant involvement and support on the Health and Safety matters is always outstanding. The guidelines and encouragement from them together with Projects Link employee’s effort has driven us to 2 Million Safe Man Hours”. Archirodon Rock Supply, Zirku Island Total quantity received of aggregates & dune sand is156,993 Tons. Total quantity loaded 153,338 Tons, Supplies /Loading 7,500 Tons / Month. Total received 772,260.79 Tons. Total Loaded 661,427 Tons. Estimated completion date is May 2016 Hyundai Rock Supply, Satah Al Razboot Total quantity 370,238 Tons. Total received 23,800 Tons. Estimated date of completion is March 2017 Meet Projects Link New Staff Human Resources Health & Safety The award ceremony was held on the 22nd February, 2016 under the slogan on “Safety First & Always”. The main purpose of this ceremony is to enhance the safety culture among all and to encourage them to adopt and implement it at site. Mr. Carmello PullIdo; (HSE ADOC), and Mr. Garry Garzon; (Marine Supervisor, ADOC) were the chief guests to distribute the awards for the nominated members. Certificates of appreciation were given to the safest men for the month of February based on their behavior and discipline, instruction follow up, compliance to PPE, safe approach to work and contribution to reporting unsafe conditions. For the man of the month, certificates of appreciation were given to Abdul Ghaffar, Bandan Kuman Nath, Buddhiman Tamang, and Radhakrishnan Pillai. This month AL hail Field Development project team reached 0.82 Million Safe Man Hours without any lost time incident. Training on the efficient usage of RTK systems Didik Purwantoro Master Marine & Plant Department Abhilashkumar Unnikrishnan Store Keeper Purchase Department In order to reduce the number of Real Time Kinematic breakdowns, a training session has been conducted on the 17th March 2016 by Mr. Muhammad Kaleem Khalid, Senior Land Surveyor. The main purpose of this training is to reinforce the procedures of using RTK system which are used by operators on the machines for rock placing and excavation. Targeted audience were operators of 16 long boom excavators, Site Engineers, Section Head, Survey Chief and Lead QA/QC Engineer. 3
