Larry King
After an illustrious 53 years in broadcasting, a career capped
by his extraordinary 25+ years at the helm of CNN’s Larry King
Live--the globe’s most compelling “must watch” news talk
show--Larry King is now launching his post-broadcast career.
Not one to sit still very long, he observes that he is busier now
than before he left the anchor desk. Since he wrapped his last
show on December 16, 2010, King has announced his multimarket comedy tour “Larry Standing UP,”
become the
franchise owner and spokesperson for the Original Brooklyn
Water Bagel Co. in his hometown of Beverly Hills, CA, and

undertaken the job of introducing All-Natural BreathGemz

twice by American Women in Radio and Television for his interviews with Melanie Bloom, widow
of NBC’s David Bloom (2006), and Nellie Connally, a former Texas first lady (2002). Larry King
Live was also awarded the Genesis Award from the Humane Society of the United States in 2006
for Outstanding Talk Show. In 2002, King received two New York Festival Awards for his Sept.
11 coverage and for his interview with Sir Paul McCartney. King was also selected to be an
Olympic Torch bearer for the 2002 Winter Games.
King received the Unity Award for excellence in public affairs, reporting on minority issues from
Lincoln University of Missouri and the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention’s Public
Service Award for his programming on depression in 2001. King was also crowned Bacchus
XXXIII at the 2001 Mardi Gras in New Orleans and was presented the key to the city. In 2000,
King received Harvard University’s Mahoney Award for increasing public awareness about
neuroscience and the March of Dimes' Franklin Delano Roosevelt Award for his efforts on behalf
of community volunteerism.

In celebration of his 40th anniversary in the broadcasting industry, Hollywood honored King in
1997 with a star on the Walk of Fame for his life’s work. In 2006, Promax/BDA awarded Larry
with their Television Century Award and the Los Angeles Press Club honored him with its
President’s Award. In 1996, the American Academy of Achievement honored him with the
Golden Plate Award for his life’s work in the broadcasting industry.
In 1994, he received the Scopus Award from the American Friends of Hebrew University, and in
1993, the National Association of Radio Talk Show Hosts named King “Talk Show Host of the
Year.” He has received honorary degrees from George Washington University, the New England
Institute of Technology, Brooklyn College and the Pratt Institute.
Entertainment Tonight called him the “master interviewer,” and King has made cameo
appearances in more than 20 movies, including Ghostbusters, Primary Colors, America’s
Sweethearts, Shrek 2 and the 2004 remake of The Stepford Wives. King has appeared in
television series such as Law and Order, Boston Legal, The Practice, Arli$$, Murphy Brown and
Frasier.
The multi-faceted King is author of multiple books including My Remarkable Journey; How to Talk
to Anyone, Anytime, Anywhere: The Secrets of Good Communication, and The Best of Larry King
Live: The Greatest Interviews.
Before broadcasting to an international audience, King was a popular media personality in Miami
where he hosted interview programs for WIOD-Radio and WTVJ-TV. From 1978-1994, King’s
voice was heard by millions of radio listeners on Mutual Radio’s The Larry King Show.
In addition to his broadcast credits, King founded the Larry King Cardiac Foundation, which has
raised millions of dollars and provided life-saving cardiac procedures for needy children and
adults. King also established a $1 million journalism scholarship at George Washington
University’s School of Media and Affairs for students from disadvantaged backgrounds.
King is married to singer/actress/TV host Shawn Southwick-King and is the father of Andy, Larry
Jr., Chaia, Chance and Cannon and stepfather to Danny Southwick.
Shawn King
Shawn King has been a part of the world of entertainment all her
life, having been “born to the business,” so to speak. The daughter
of a major record company executive and a top Hollywood studio
singer, as well as being the niece of one of the members of the
original Lettermen hit vocal group, it was not unusual for Shawn to
run through the house as a little girl and see Brian Wilson of The
Beach Boys, go on a bike ride with Anne Murray or play catch in
the back yard with any number of major recording artists.
Born and raised in Studio City, California, until she enrolled at
Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah in 1978, Shawn herself
has an extensive and varied background in the world of
entertainment, having started as a child studio vocalist in
Hollywood at the tender age of three, eventually graduating to
singing back-up vocals and solos for commercials, motion pictures,
television and record sessions for numerous hit artists.
In the ‘80s, as an actor Shawn was a frequent guest star on many of the most popular prime time
television shows, and from 1990 to 1996, she hosted USA Cable Network’s weekly television
entertainment news show Hollywood Insider and co-hosted The Spectacular World of Guinness World
Records with David Frost.

Shawn, too, is a successful businesswoman and entrepreneur having personally developed, patented
and launched the first consumer-friendly hair extension product through her Luxurious Hair infomercial in
partnership with the American Telecast Corporation, resulting in sales of over $23,000,000 in the first
quarter alone.
In 1997, Shawn married Larry King and took a hiatus from her professional life. She began recording
again in 2002 with producer David Foster.
Shawn’s initial CD, entitled “In My Own Backyard” on Lofton Creek Records (2003) was produced by Carl
Jackson, Keith Follese’ and Steve Tyrell. Promotional appearances for this package included “The Today
Show”, “The View”, “Conan O’Brien”, “Late Night with Jimmy Kimmel”, “The Don Imus Show” and “Dr.
Phil”, among others. A real highlight for Shawn during her promotional tour was being invited to sing at
the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville and at Buck Owens’ legendary Crystal Palace in Bakersfield, California.
She has since then released several recordings and has a new CD scheduled for release in the fall of
2011.
Shawn has performed in Las Vegas and Atlantic City with Don Rickles and she and husband Larry King
perform in concert also in Las Vegas, Atlantic City and in various venues across the United States and
Canada.
With such busy and productive lives, Shawn and Larry live between Los Angeles, New York City and
Provo, Utah, with their two youngest children, Chance and Cannon.
Shawn’s many activities include her great passion serving as chairperson of the Larry King Cardiac
Foundation.
