OFFICE OPENING HOURS
DEAR BERTH HOLDER
After a reasonable summer, we are now moving into
the twilight of this boating season. On behalf of all the
staff here at Upton Marina I would like to thank you all
for mooring with us and making any new-comers onto
your pontoons so welcome. It’s always a pleasure to
see you all congregating on the pontoons and making
new friends.
The Berth Holders party held on 4th
July was extremely successful and
many of you turned up in the appropriate “red, white and blue” for our
version of American Independence
Day. Thanks to Nicky and her team
for all their hard work—the food was
great!!
The Cross-over Cruise was also well supported and it is
hoped that we do something similar next year for those
who are a bit shy of venturing out on your own through
locks etc. for the first time.
Some of you may know Tim and Caz who run Severn
Expeditions on site. In case you didn’t know they got
married in August. Congratulations and best wishes to
them for their future happiness.
We have been overwhelmed with customers buying
larger cruisers this year and you will have noticed that
we have had to make a few slight alterations to the
pontoons to accommodate.

Winter opening hours will commence on Sunday
25th October 2015 (our Sunday opening hours will
revert to 9.00am to 4.00pm, Monday to Saturday
we are open 9.00am to 5.00pm).

DINGHIES AND TENDERS
PLEASE NOTE - again - that when not in use,
tenders must be kept on davits or on top of your
boat. We are getting dinghies and ribs left in
unoccupied berths which is making it awkward if
we book visitors in. If you want to leave tenders
on the water a fee will be charged and a berth
allocated which will not be by the parent boat.

DIARY DATES 2016
ELECTRICITY METERS
New Years Eve Party at the Wheelhouse Bar
If you are using one of the new Smart Card Meters for your
electricity supply it is your responsibility to make sure you
have sufficient funds on your Smart Card to cover when the
office is closed.
PLEASE check, and top up if needed - don’t run out!
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
When you go off on holiday with your boat for a long or
short trip, or if the boat is lifted out of the water for the
winter, don’t forget to refund the credit on the meter back
onto your Smart Card.
To do this, press and hold the red button on the meter then
insert your Smart Meter card into the meter. When the
meter displays “b_good” remove the card and release the
red button.
This will negate losing your credit.
DOG FOULING
Cute and cuddly as they are, dogs do create a
mess. The majority of owners clean up this mess
but there are a few that don’t.

BOAT CRANING
There are bins around the Marina for this
purpose. Please use them
WORKING ON YOUR BOAT
When your boat is taken out of the water it is
chocked with blocks and wedges by trained
works personnel. Please do not move the chocks
FOR ANY REASON. It could cause damage or
injury.
Please also remember when working
on your boat to pick up any nails,
screws, or anything dropped on the car
park and put it in the skip. Waste oil goes in the
waste oil tank - see a member of staff for the key.
Please put paint tins, oil filters and oily rags in the
appropriate bins.
Please remember to prepare your boat ready for
craning. Secure your personal items
and belongings inside the boat and
ensure that there is nothing on the
exterior that can fall off.

heating on your boat in case they
are left on or they fall over. Greenhouse bar heaters are permitted.

PONTOON SAFETY
As we are approaching the darker nights just a reminder not
leave items on the pontoons and fingers as they are a potential
trip hazard. Please leave your mooring lines tidy and store away
your hose pipes etc.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our boat sales customers who have made this year such a
success. It’s been a very busy year with sales continuing to be grow and we’re still enjoying excellent interest
from potential customers.
Those of you who visited the Southampton Boat Show you will already be aware that Tingdene Boat Sales have
announced two new prestigious manufacturer additions.
Tyler Wilson “Tingdene EuroBarge” coming soon! For several years we have been looking for a quality boat
builder capable of producing an idea we have for a new type of inland cruiser, with the living space and
practicality of a wide beam combined with the classic looks of a Dutch barge and most importantly designed for
ease of use. We are delighted that this idea will shortly be going into build by the renowned Tyler Wilson boat
builders in Sheffield.
Broom Boats on 1st September 2015, Broom expanded its reach across the UK with the appointment of
Tingdene Marinas & Boats Sales to represent Broom Boats on the River Thames and River Severn. Neil

TROLLEYS
DUCK, GEESE & SWAN FOULING
Please return the trolleys to the trolley parks as soon as

MARINE PERFORMANCE
With the cold weather fast approaching we strongly recommend protecting your boat systems / engines from
corrosion, deterioration and frost damage through the winter period; which are all costly repairs.
In the past many have been caught out in the cold weather, even with electric heaters as it is not common for
interruption to the electric supply.
Every boat lifted will benefit from a free visual inspection.

in and return to us.
Chandlery and Service Centre
The Chandlery is open 10.00am till 4.00pm everyday (except Tuesdays) including Bank Holidays.
Christmas Shutdown: Wednesday the 23rd of December 2015 to Sunday the 3rd of January 2016 inclusive.
We carry large stocks on site but any other items required can be ordered within approx 2-3 days. We can compete with internet prices on most items and in addition to this if you have any queries or problems with your purchase it can be resolved easier than parts ordered over the internet.

RIVER CONDITIONS
We know you always take care, but if you are unsure
whether you should venture out onto the river after
heavy rain or melting snow(!) please have a look at
the “traffic light” indicator on the left-hand stanchion of the bridge entry out of the marina, and
read the relevant notice by the slipway.
NEW CODE LIST FOR 2016
The new codes are ready for 2016 so don’t forget to call
into the office to collect your list. Don’t forget that the
code changes on the first Thursday of each month and
please do not give out the codes to people you do not
know – or shout it out to friends!! We do not want unauthorized people on the pontoons. Also, please could
you not tie back the gates and leave them unattended
i.e. whilst you take a trolley to the boat. We have had
members of the public wandering through and climbing
onto berth-holders boats.

located on the front of the Marina complex.

DIESEL OIL FUEL
You will be pleased to hear that the diesel oil has been
reduced even further to 0.89p a litre for loyalty card
holders (and £1.02 a litre if you are not).
Fill up now and benefit from the lower prices.
SMOKELESS FUEL
We have received a
few complaints
about dirty, smutty
smoke on the
Marina. Please
ensure that you always use
smokeless fuel.
WATERSIDE SERVICES
Leslie is no longer
operating from the Marina
premises but she is still
offering a boat wash and
valeting service.
