EvanHaney,AChristmasCarolisthemostproducedplayinthecountryandconcernsoneEbenezer
Scrooge.Heisagreedyandstingybusinessman,withnoplaceinhislifeforkindness,compassion,charity
orbenevolence.WhenScroogeisvisitedbyfourghosts,includinghisformerbusinesspartner,Jacob
Marley,heiswarnedtochangehiswaysorfaceamiserableafterlife.ShareScrooge’smiraculous
transformationwiththewholefamilyandexperiencetheremembranceofthetruemeaningofChristmas.
It’snevertoolatetochangeisCharlesDickens’messageofhopeandempowermentthatremindsusof
themeaningoftheholidayswecelebrateeachyear.
Thisyear’sproductionisarevivalPerseverance’sdebutlastChristmasthattheAlaskaDispatchNewssaid
had“Agorgeousset,ambitioussoundeffects,andexcellentacting.”Thisyearsversionislargelythesame,
withadditionalmusic,somenewlinesinthescript,andaddedsetpieces,AChristmasCarol,performsfor
twoweeks,December18-27,withonePay-As-You-CanpreviewonDecember17,intheDiscoveryTheatre
attheAlaskaCenterforthePerformingArts.TicketsforAChristmasCarolare$19.25-$53.75andare

PerseverancecommissionedanewadaptationofDickens’classictale,usingthebookasthemain
inspirationfortheperformance.ItwasadaptedbyAnchorageplaywrightArlitiaJones(CometoMe,
Leopards,RushatEverlasting)andMichaelEvanHaney(AssociateArtistatCincinnatiPlayhouseinThe
Park).
DirectedbyCincinnatiPlayhouseinthePark’sArtisticAssociateMichaelEvanHaney,whoseloveofthe
storyhasleadhimtodirectingAChristmasCarolinCincinnatiforovertwentyyears!Nowoneofthe
Playhouse’sassociateartists,Mr.Haneypreviouslyservedasassociateartisticdirectorfrom2002-2012.
Hisproductionshavegarneredmorethan40CEAandAcclaimawards,includingsevenbestplayandnine
bestdirectingawards,andlastyearhereceivedTheRickSteinerAwardforExcellence.Off-Broadway,he
directedAroundtheWorldin80DaysattheIrishRepertoryTheatre.Mr.Haney’sinternationalcredits
includetheEnglishTheatresofViennaandFrankfurtandtheEdinburghFringeFestival.
ArlitiaJonesisaplaywright,poetanddirector,aswellasco-founderofTossPotProductionsinAnchorage,
AK.HerplayRushatEverlastingwasproducedatPerseveranceTheatreinJuneauinJanuary2014and
AnchorageinFebruary2014.HershortplayTornadowasselectedasawinnerinthe38thAnnualSamuel
FrenchOOBShortPlayFestivalinJuly2013.Inadditiontohertheatrework,Jonesisalsoapublishedpoet
andauthorofTheBandsawRiots.
TheshowwillhavechoreographybyKristenVierthalerandsoundandmusicdesignbyLucyPeckham(An
