The first time I mentioned at
one of our Tuesday night
meetings that we would be
dedicating our Club dance floor
in a warehouse, I saw several
people around the room get a
look like you are kidding right?
It was wonderful to have some
of those same people come up
to me at the dance and
comment on how nice everything
was and did I think it was a
possibility to have another
dance there. I have been
involved with Country Lovers for
seven and a half years now and
I have to say that as far as
activities that involve the Club
as a whole the June 2004 dance
has to be the highpoint of my
involvement. It seems that
almost as long as I have been
involved in the Club (only about
a year shy) we have been
raising money and waiting in
anticipation for the Club to have
their very own dance floor.
Realizing that goal by itself is a
really good feeling for everyone
who has been involved from the
planners and organizers all the
way down to those who have
recently started participating,
but having the opportunity to
dance on it really made every
minute worth it, even the car
wash.
To top it off dedicating it to
Kathy Culley, a woman I have
considered a mentor for years
made the evening such an
emotional high! I wish I had
thought of the idea
I want to take a moment to give
credit to some non-Country
Lovers members who made the
evening possible. First, special
thanks to Sid, lot manager at
Karmann Ghea Parts, who not
only allowed us to hold our
dance there for next to nothing
($1.00 a head), but came up
with the idea. Also, thanks Lee,
Lynn, and Donny who cleaned
out all the car parts that had
been dumped in the warehouse,
setting up the parking lot
lighting, replacing the toilet in
the middle of the night (the
tank broke while I was there
cleaning the night before), and
for repairing the rotted board
in the stairs that gave way
when George was on his way
down. You have no idea the
work the three of them put in.
They do not even work there,
just friends helping out for a
good cause.
Message From President Deanna

It is really tough to think ahead after an
evening like that, but we still have plenty of
fun activities ahead to enjoy. I’m beginning
to wonder who plans on showing up to the
picnic though, last I looked no one has signed
up for the pot luck and it is only a couple of
weeks away. Although it is an industrial area
off the Ventura Avenue, it is a beautiful,
quiet, secluded area. Once inside it seems
you have been transported somewhere else.
The first weekend in August is really busy!
Marylyn Monroe and John Wayne will be
there). But wait, there’s more, stay in
costume and join us for our August dance
with the same theme that evening. ACTION!
The weekend is not over yet. On Sunday,
Sue Ellen has arranged for Country Lovers to
do a demo at the Fair. We would love to
have as many people join us as possible.
Whew! And there is still more to come! Plan
on joining us in September at our dance and
at the Camarillo dance September 25th
where our Club’s DJ’s, Jammin’ Country, will

Hey, everybody! Did you know that
Country Lovers were represented at
the annual “Camarillo Music in the
Park” with Caught Red Handed on the
12th of June????
We luckily got a chance to sit near
other dancers whom we all remember
from the "ole' Friday night dances".
Don, and Mareret, Deanna and John,
Tony and Sandy and her sister and
friend. We also saw friends from the
Camarillo Dances who we hadn’t seen
in a while. All in all, it was a great
time, and the evening was one of
those where you wished everyone
could have been there. If you weren't
there, you missed a good time.
There was a bunch of us there all of
whom brought chairs and put them up
early so we could try to sit together
and enjoy an evening of music and fun Til we meet again,
under the stars. Of course, some of Polly
us danced and never sat, but it was
fun. Winny, Nancy, George, Pat and
Kathy, and Mike and I were there.
