Pickleball was founded in 1965 by 3 friends from Bainbridge, Washington. They were bored and looking for something new to do. When they attempted to play Badminton they couldn’t find a shuttlecock so they used a wiffleball and lowered the net. They also constructed new paddles out of old plywood from their shed. They changed the name from Wiffleball and began calling it Pickleball as it mimics the game of Badminton, Ping Pong and Wiffleball. One of the friend’s dogs was named Pickles and his children would constantly shout, “Pickles bring that ball back here!” And so, Pickleball was born! Benefits of Pickleball: • Smaller rackets make striking the ball easier • Provides an overall fitness workout that’s fun • Teaches hand-eye coordination • Legs, arms and mid-section get a great workout • All ages can enjoy the game and it’s easy to learn Description: Site: Learn the Skills of Pickleball to include the serve, groundstrokes, volley and rules of the game.
