Reception, where English is spoken, is open from 8am to 10pm all season. Customers unavoidably delayed, arriving after the barrier is down (from 11pm to 7am) should leave the in the car park by reception and go to the reception to speak to security or to the bar to find a member of staff. We advise that you ring ahead to warn the campsite if you expect to arrive late. Please note all guests are required to show an identity card/passport on arrival and they will then be given a personal pass which is to be shown to the site wardens upon request, as well as a car pass which should be displayed on the right hand side of the windscreen. As Eurocamp couriers (on site from 28 March to 1 November) will be unaware of your arrival, we recommend that you visit their reception area as soon as you have settled in. Useful Information • • • • • • • • • • Swimming pool: there is a great aqua complex with 5 swimming pools (including a lagoon style pool with an island in the middle), sun loungers, water slides and a spray park for children. The lagoon pool is open for the whole season, while the other 4 pools and splash play area are open from mid April to late September. Please note swimming caps are compulsory in one of the swimming pools. Washblocks: there are 6 sanitary blocks on site with clearly separated sections for Ladies and Gentlemen. Please note, most campsites do not provide toilet paper in the wash blocks and some campsite sanitary blocks do not have toilet seats. Barbecues: Only Charcoal barbecues are allowed on your pitch. Internet access: there is Internet access in the Bar and Animation Office and there is WiFi cover in the site reception and restaurant and bar areas. Gas bottles: these can be exchanged on site. Motorhome service point: there is no motorhome service point on site. Fridge hire: this is available on site, but it cannot be pre-booked. Please ask about it at the site reception when you arrive. Electricity: There will be a16 amp standard European 3 pin electricity hook-up available on your pitch. Dogs: Dogs are not allowed on the campsite. Credit cards: please note that credit cards are not accepted on site, but there are two ATM cash machines. Food and Drink There are a number of restaurants and 5 bars to choose from which are open all from late March to late October. The Corte Riga is located in the old courtyard with a central fountain at the far end of the site, Le Terrazza is a family restaurant overlooking the lake, serving Mediterranean food, Locanda Bella Italia is situated in a quiet corner close to a swimming pool and the Trattoria Bella Italia is where you can taste typical Italian dishes in a cosy, sophisticated setting. There is also a take-away serving pizza and pasta. The different bars serve a variety of food from Paninis and ice-cream to burgers, sandwiches, kebabs, salads, and chicken nuggets. Shopping There is a well stocked mini-supermarket on site selling bread, meat, dairy products, ice cream, baby products, newspapers, alcohol etc. In addition there is a green grocers selling fresh fruit and vegetables, a beachwear shop, a leather goods shop, ice-cream shop, tabac and hairdressers. The shops are open all season. Campsite Activities and Entertainment We have picked out a few things to do on site that may be of interest to you. For a full list of campsite activities, please refer to our brochure or website. During the day • Archery is available all season, with supervised sessions. • A Multi-sports area is available for basketball, volleyball, tennis and 5 a side football. • Cycle hire is available; adults, children’s bikes and mountain bikes can all be hired (helmets may not be available). • Tennis – a full size tennis court is available for a small charge and lessons are provided as part of the campsite animation programme, but you will need to bring your own equipment. • Watersports are available by the lake with kayaking, pedalos and waterskiing available from mid May to mid September. The water-skiing is charged per 20 minute session and lessons and lifejackets are available. Jet Ski trailers can be parked onsite, but this should be pre-booked and there is a charge. One a fortnight in the summer, there is a campsite party with food, sangria and a firework display. Entertainment runs from April to September. Satellite TV with MTV, Eurosport and Sky channels is shown in Diego’s Bar, Mauro’s restaurant/bar and bar Dolce Vita. Excursions Tours of Lake Garda and excursions to Venice and Verona are operated by an outside company in July and August. Further afield the wonderful city of Venice offers an amazing cultural experience, while children and thrill seeking grown-ups will be kept happy with two big theme parks close at hand. While you’re here try... Sporting Activities • Fishing – fishing is possible at many locations around the lake, the nearest spot is 1.5km from the site. Species include Carp, Trout and Pike. Please note a permit is required. You can also fish in the River Mincio at Peschiera, 1.50 km from the site. • Windsurfing – the conditions are particularly good around Limone and Riva where there is an international windsurfing centre and part of the lake is reserved exclusively for windsurfers. Hire is available from ‘OK Surf’, Gargnano, (instruction is available). • Golf - ‘Garda Golf and Country Club’, Soiano del Lago, please note, an official handicap is required. • Horse riding – there are stables 3km from the site. • Sailing – boats can be hired 1 km from the site. • Water sports – Lake Garda is popular for all sailing activities, but jet-skiing is only permitted in certain designated areas and these may not be close to Camping Bella Italia. Gelato The true Italian ice-cream; it is much less whipped than English ice-cream and is made with milk, as opposed to cream, and this allows the flavour to really stand out. There are lots of really delicious flavours to try. Risotto In Northern Italy risotto is as popular as pasta dishes and you will find many variations to try including Risotto alla Milanese is a creamy dish of braised short-grain rice blended with meat stock, saffron and cheese. Italian Wine Italy is one of the world’s largest wine producing countries. The north of Lake Garda is part of the Trento-Alto Adige region and produces the distinctive Trentino dry white wines including Nosiola, Pino Blanc, Chardonnay the Spumante Talento Trento and the traditional sweet dessert wine Vin Santo. Sirmione - 10 km This is the biggest water amusement park in Italy with large water slides, a wave pool and lagoons. The Movieland Park offers more than 20 attractions with rides and shows set around movie sets. http://www.movieland.it/ Beaches Salò - 40 km An attractive village, dating back to Roman times, with an archaeological museum. In the summer there are live musical events to enjoy. There is direct access to a pebbly lake beach just off the site, where you can swim or fish. Where to Shop • • • Peschira del Garda – 2 km, Desenzano - a larger resort town with a correspondingly greater number of shops and banks etc. The shopping in Desenzano spirals out from the piazza and some of the best shops are accessible only through entering arcades. There is a large ‘Standa’ supermarket here. Verona – 30km, the nearest city, within reasonable reach for a days’ shopping and sightseeing. Local market days (usually mornings only) are as follows: Monday – Moniga and Peschiera Tuesday - Desenzano Wednesday - San Felice del Benaco Thursday - Toscolano. Friday - Manerba, Sirmione and Montichiari. Saturday – Salò and Padhenga. Sunday - Rivoltella. Must Sees and Dos Please see your European Guide for additional information about your local area. Peschira del Garda - 5 km This lovely historic town is filled with shop, restaurants and ice-cream parlours. Brescia - 44 km Lying at the foot of the Lombardy Pre-Alps, this bustling town is dominated by a medieval castle and its streets are studded with many fine buildings from all periods. Heller Botanical Gardens - 38 km The Gardone Riviera consists of two parts, the houses by the water, including the Grand Hotel where Winston Churchill used to relax, and a group of houses on a slope by the church (the Upper Town). In between is the Gardiono Botanico, a collection of plants from all over the world (some 8,000 species), with wonderful views over the lake. www.hellergarden.com/link_01_en.html Canevaworld Water and Movie Park - Lazise 10 km This is the largest water amusement park in Italy. There are different shows everyday. The park includes - Aqua Park, amusement park, large waterslides, aqua gym. There is also a boating lake. Restaurants, bars, ice cream parlours, shops and pizzeria. www.movieland.it/ Gardaland - 8 km On the east side of the lake near Castelnuove del Garda, Gardaland is the largest amusement park in Italy and one of the largest in Europe. It offers its visitors no less than 11 different shows each day and 5 themed restaurants. The Park has rides for the courageous such as Blue Tornado, Space Vertigo and Magic Mountain, or you can discover the ruins of an ancient oriental temple on board a rubber dinghy, or visit Fantasy Kingdom with the children. www.gardaland.it/resort-en/ Parco Natura Viva’ – Lazize 15 km A wildlife park and botanical garden (with a Dinosaur park); there are two main areas, the Faunistic Park features wild animals from European forests and other areas including wolves, wild boar, and pumas. The Safari park area includes the big wild animals of Africa such as lions, leopards and elephants. www.parconaturaviva.it/ Verona – 24 km The historic city centre is surrounded by walls. Verona is the setting for Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet; you can visit the house and tomb of Juliet Capulet. Well worth a visit is the 1st century A.D. Roman amphitheatre which has been restored and is now an important operatic venue, with performances held from June to August. Venice - 139 km This famous city is primarily accessed by a canal network, the main waterway being the Grand Canal. The Basilica, Bridge of Sighs, the Rialto Bridge and Piazzo San Marco are all ‘Must See’ attractions. Please note: Eurocamp Independent has not vetted any off site activities. Customers should undertake their own safety checks. Ferrari Museum - Modena 128 km Enzo Ferrari was born in Modena on 18 February 1898 and just south of here is Maranello, the present location of the headquarters of Ferrari. Galleria Ferrari, built in 1988, is just around the corner from the factory. Unofficially known as the ‘Temple of the Red Road Gods’ this modern two-storey building displays exhibits of racing and road cars. The museum contains books and other memorabilia including hand built die cast models of various Ferraris. Getting To Your Site Location On the south eastern corner of Lake Garda, 2km from the town of Peschiera del Garda. Directions From the direction of Milan: take the A4 toll road heading towards Venezia for approximately 120 km. Take the exit for Peschiera towards Via Valeggio/ SR249 (partial toll road). After800m turn left onto Via Valeggio/SR249. After 59m take the slight right onto the SR11 ramp to Brescia/Verona/Sirmione/Affi/Lazise. After 300m, at the roundabout, take the 1st exit onto the Via Tangenziale/SR11 ramp. After 220m merge onto Via Tangenziale/SR11 and continue to follow the SR11 for 3 and a half kilometers and the destination will be on the right. New Law re Breathalysers in France Please be aware that a new law came in to force from 1st July 2012 that makes it COMPULSORY for all motorists in FRANCE to carry a single use breathalyser. We advise that if you are travelling to (or through) France you should carry at least two disposable breathalysers in order to comply with this new law. The breathalysers you purchase must comply to French regulations and will carry the ‘French certification mark’ ‘NF’. These should be purchased prior to departure in the UK but can also be purchased on the ferry, in most French supermarkets, service/petrol stations or chemists. Couriers on site will have information of local garages. Due to recent European legislation it is now a requirement when driving in Europe that all cars need to carry a reflective jacket at all times. These reflective jackets can be purchased almost everywhere in Europe for approx 8 to 15 Euros each. Personal Injury The chances of you and your family either having an accident or becoming the victims of crime whilst on holiday are extremely low. However, you should encourage the members of your party to take the same sensible precautions that they would do at home. Try to avoid walking alone at night, and keep to well-lit main roads where possible. You should try to avoid short cuts like alleyways, waste ground and wooded, bushy areas. Stay alert: be aware of what’s going on around you. It is always worth letting someone know where you are going, the route you intend to take and when you expect to return. We want you to have a safe holiday - please read campsite notices carefully and ensure all members of your party understand the rules and regulations as they are there for your own safety. The country’s official national holidays, on the other hand, tend to close everything down except bars and restaurants. Handy Hints and Tips Shop Opening & Closing - The classic Italian shopping days are Monday to Saturday, with shops generally open from 9 a.m. to 12.30 and 3.30 p.m. to 7.30 p.m. In the summer many shops close as late as 10.00pm. Stores generally close on Sundays. Please note: banks in the area are normally open only until 1.00 p.m. and closed at weekends. Although some larger stores or those in popular tourist areas may remain open at lunchtimes and Sundays, this is optional and not guaranteed.
